Absolutely love this place -- it's become our go-to spot to celebrate big wins as a family. There's something so homey and comforting about the vibe, and the food is consistently amazing. The scallion pancakes are hands-down the best we've had -- crispy, chewy, and full of flavor. The Mapo Tofu is rich, spicy, and perfectly numbing in that classic Sichuan way. The napa cabbage is deceptively simple but so well-cooked and flavorful -- the kind of dish you keep reaching for without realizing. It's a local gem that always feels warm and welcoming, and it holds a special place in our hearts (and stomachs). If you're in the area, this is the kind of spot you keep coming back to -- we certainly do.

TLDR: Maybe one of the better Chinese restaurants in the MA suburbs but definitely not up to par with the Chinese food you can find in NYC or SF. Only dishes I'd order again were the 1) Steamed bacon, 2) Shredded beef with hot green pepper, and 3) Roast Beef Sichuan specialty dish. Restaurant ambiance wasn't bad and service was efficient. Pretty packed on a Sunday night so would make a reservation even if they tell you that there's no need! ------ FOOD: 1. Steamed Bacon with Fresh Garlic Spicy Sauce (5/5): Really delicately fatty and flavorful. Credit where credit is due - this was one of the best things I ate on my recent trip to Boston. 2. Shredded Beef with Hot Green Pepper (4.5/5): Again, addictingly fatty shreds of beef with a delicious sauce that coated each piece of meat beautifully. Beware, the hot green peppers in this are very spicy, even more than I expected. 3. Roast Beef, Tendon & Tripe with Chili Sauce (4/5): A classic Sichuan specialty dish, this was pretty good here! Not life changing but at least standard. 4. Pea Shoots with Garlic (3.5/5): Standard. Pretty big portion so that's good, but a little limp and not quite as flavorful as it could be. 5. Sichuan Wontons with Spicy Chili Sauce (2.5/5): Very thick skin with minimal meat, much more like a dumpling than a wonton. The authentic Sichuan chili sauce is supposed to have a beautiful red color -- this kind of just looked like soy sauce. 6. Stir Fried Pork Kidney with Vegetables (2/5): Not for me but maybe it's better for those who love this kind of dish. Regardless, I didn't feel like the sauce had much flavor at all. 7. Hot and Sour Soup (0/5): Unfortunately the biggest let down of the night. This didn't taste right at all. Much too sour and generally had a funky taste. This soup is so quintessential so I'd highly recommend the restaurant revisit the recipe for this dish! A portion of rice here is a huge bowl that could probably serve 3-5 people. Average rice quality. ------ AMBIANCE / ENVIRONMENT: * Restaurant is located on the second floor of a building complex. There are both stairs and an elevator you can take. Plenty of parking in the lot in front of the complex. * Inside there is a large dining area with lots of tables for large groups or small groups / couples. There's also a bar with seats there. * Classic, minimal Chinese restaurant decorations adorning the walls and paper Zodiac placemats from the 2010s at the tables * Not too loud and didn't feel too crowded inside, even when the restaurant was full ------ SERVICE: * Average Chinese restaurant service but at least they're very responsive over the phone if you need to call in for anything

Not the place we once knew! In years past, Sichuan Gourmet's food was exemplary; one of the best most authentic regional cuisine Chinese restaurants that we've dined in. Food quality has slipped noticeably; we, also, observed that service is a wee bit disorganized these days, quite unlike any of our previous visits. It is very unfortunate for me to have to say that we would not be in any hurry to return to Sichuan Gourmet any time soon.

Best Sichuan I've ever tasted. The drinks are well priced. The food is authentic. The vibe is welcoming. The staff is friendly. The seating is comfy. This place is a definition of 10/10.

I've come here several times now for weekday lunch, and although the service is always fast and the portions always plentiful, the food has been somewhat inconsistent. Chicken and Asparagus with Chengdu Special Sauce - I recommend this dish as the super thinly sliced velveted chicken is tender, and the sauce is flavorful. The downside is they used some fibrous asparagus stems which were unpleasant. Also, don't be surprised to find bell pepper or other random veggie added as well. Sichuan Style Double Cooked Bacon - I do not recommend. This is one of my all-time favorite dishes at nearly any other Sichuan restaurant, but this place failed miserably. The bacon was thick sliced, and the fat was not rendered well, so it was tough and chewy. More like poorly single cooked than double cooked. The fermented black beans and leeks are also crucial to this dish, and there wasn't nearly enough of them for my liking. The items served with the lunch special are generally really good, especially the surprisingly tasty pickled broccoli/veggie nibbles. Love these! And the egg drop soup and spring rolls are solid. The fried rice continues to disappoint, though, as it seems to just be rice seasoned with soy sauce. Too brown, and not enough green flavor enhancers - some onion or scallion, carrot, peas, broccoli, etc. would go a long way.

Great restaurant offering traditional Sichuan cuisine. I would always stop by this place for dinner when I'm in the area. Staff is also courteous and helpful.

Came back this year and I'm glad I did. They reprinted menus with higher prices and no longer are cutting down portions or ingredients instead. I would say cooking quality during the pandemic was low but it came back up. Although pricier than before, the dishes were tasty and I was able to have ample leftovers for an additional full meal. Ordered my go-to items! Their service was a bit slower and disorganized (brought the wrong order to our table) and their complementary tea was really dilute (there was one tea bag in the whole pot). Otherwise, their operation has become quite good again.

If you love spice and Sichuan flavors this is the place to go! This is my go to take out but I also enjoy eating in. Their menu is large but attention to detail is not lost at all! My go to dishes no matter what else I order is the Cayenne Spicy Chicken with long horn peppers, DanDan Spicy Noodles and KungPao Chicken extra spicy! Service is very speedy and they make sure you had a good experience! If you're not sure what to get or are confused by the authentic Sichuan Chinese menu they will help you through it all! Very large space with function roon in the back and a bar! Decorated typical Sichuan restaurant but that does not take away from the experience! When they give you 3 sets of silverware because they think not just one person devours this much for dinner! Tuesday takeout from Sichuan Gourmet Framingham!! Pork Fried Rice, Cayenne Spicy Chicken and KungPao Chicken extra spicy!

My family raves about this place and have been coming here for years! I've been three times so far and love it. It's very small and basically do most of thier business via takeout. My view of the current establishment may be tainted by my mourning for the wonderful restaurant this used to be. Now, it is a perfectly decent takeout restaurant, but does little to standout from so many run of the mill Americanized Chinese restaurants. The quaint and homey dining room has gone downhill, and it is no longer somewhere I would "dine-in" as the room is mostly used for preparing takeout orders. The lunch special I tried recently had only 4 shrimp, but a really nice mix of fresh vegetables in the sauce, including yellow squash, zucchini, carrot, onion, bell pepper, snow peas, and broccoli. Personally, I loved having these veggies, particularly given the soy sauce laden fried rice lacked any vegetables.

However, last weekend we decided to give it a try because some times we need to give the benefit of the doubt to some places and judge them by ourselves. Well, to our surprise we had a very pleasant first experience at this place. Starting with the ambience, the restaurant has a nice sophisticated and inviting atmosphere. Everything was very clean and organized in an elegant way, which caused a very good first impression. Continuing with the food, there is a variety of options in the menu, mainly Chinese (of course) but also a Japanese section (sushi and other items). We ordered from the Chinese options...For appetizers we ordered the Thai Spring Rolls, the Scallion Pancakes, and the Boneless Ribs, all of them very delicious. The Scallion Pancakes have been the best in terms of texture that we have tried in the area. Our only recommendation would be to add more scallions to the dough so they can taste more to scallion. The flavor of the Boneless Ribs was very tasty and their texture was tender, not chewy as we have tried in other places. The Thai Spring Rolls were interesting, flavor was good as well as the texture. As main entree, we ordered the Orange Crispy Beef and the Sesame Chichen and found both very delicious. The crispy beef was the first time we tried something like that in the area. The amount of sauce that they used in both dishes was not too excessive and the tenderness of both the beef and the chicken was very good. Regarding drinks, we ordered a Piña Colada and a Polynesian cocktail, both with very balanced flavors. The only recommendation for the Piña Colada is to try making it more frozen and not with too many ice cubes. The flavor was pretty similar to an authentic Piña Colada (we are from Puerto Rico, the place where this drink was born and have to admit that the flavor was good); making it more frozen would give the final touch to make it more authentic, in our opinion. The desserts menu was not extensive at all, only one option available which was the fried ice cream. We decided to try it anyway and found it very good. In terms of the service, it was acceptable. Our server did a great job taking the order and not missing any item as well as serving our table on time and accurate. He wasn't smiling all the time, but he was respectful and polite, enough for us. I would say that if you are in the area, you can give it a try. For 5 years we avoided this place, and unless they changed something recently I have to say that we like the experience and are planning to go back. We don't do late dinner regularly, so we went there around 5:30 pm, which we don't know if that could have made any difference in everything.

Weekday lunch with not much of a crowd. Lunch combinations made it easy. -- Hot and Sour Soup: Tea-colored and thin and somewhat watery, but the heat and tartness still came through. Decent amount of mushrooms and tofu, without much variety. -- Egg Roll: Crisp outside, moist inside. Mostly cabbage, with some gray pebbles of pork. Not much flavor here, so it really needed the duck sauce. -- Orange Beef: A generous portion for a lunch combo, with bumpy semi-crisp surfaces, and somewhat tender meat within. Think of them as miniature chicken fried steaks. The flavors in this dish were impressive, blending spicy, sweet, and tart. Orange, peel, onions, and other little nuggets added complexity. A little gloppy, but someone who likes this dish would like this dish here. -- Fried Rice: Very light of color and no additions other than egg. Moist and fresh, but bland. Zero flavor. White rice would make more sense (and maybe even more flavor). -- Pork Fried Rice (full order): I ordered an extra to go, to see how it compared against the lunch special rice that wasn't that special. Still light and a little lacking in flavor, but an improvement with the pork and other additions. Fairly average. Decent enough meal, reasonable value, but flavor and/or texture was a little lacking on some items. Worth another look though, thanks to the Orange Beef and the atmosphere.
