If you're vegan... fuck all else and head straight here. If you're not vegan and want real food…read morethat tastes great and is actually made here... fuck all else and go here, right away. The pastas are all homemade and they have many vegan options. And not just like, "Yeah, we have eggplant and tasteless salad and we can remove the tuna and cheese and suck ass so you can eat."... it's more like, "You thought you like pasta, try this shit, it's fucking awesome!" I'm not kidding. You choose the style of pasta (I had gnocchi ((potato/gf)) and the wife had bucatini). Two vegan options, and holy god dammit all... mind blowing. I cried when it was over. Okay... I have to balance this out with some bad. The yang to the yin. Goddam plastic water bottles and plastic water cups!! Why?! Stop it Sicily... you're out of control with the pollution... like WAY out of control. Be better than the rest! That's all, I should take off a star for that, but I believe once they read this... they'll change. Giuliana was our waitress and I don't know the chef's name yet, but we're going back tomorrow so I'll find out. I actually clapped for him. That's how awesome this shit is. Vegan awesome sauce like no other. You've never had pasta this good. Never.

We thought we were waiting in line but then realized that the people had spilled out into the front and weren't really waiting, they were just drinking and chilling. After some confusing exchanges we got a table outside though, so all was good. The pasta was great! They have several different sauces and fresh pastas that you can mix and match. I loved the pesto trapanese. We liked it so much that we went back on our last night and got some to-go. Our waitress was very nice and despite the crowd the food didn't take long.

The locals frequent this place typically for lunch, so prepare for a bit of a crowd if you go there around lunchtime. The methodology of ordering is a little confusing--so here's your tip: order what you want from the lady at the counter nearest the door, pay and then take your tickets (if provided depending on what you order) to the second window towards the back of the front room. In short, you are giving them a ticket to prove you paid for the pasta, vegetables, etc. that you ordered. Then, go find a seat--either in the front room or the back area. Depending upon what you get, the prices are exceptional for "restaurant" food. And, at this restaurant, there are no extra service fees or anything. You simply pay the price you see, and the food is good. Not the best I've had, but solid and worth the price tag by far. You can get a portion of lasagna for 3 euros, a plate of baked pasta for the same (I had this and it was quite flavorful), a plate of ravioli for 4 euros... All in good portions. You can order a small side of veggies for 2 euros (I highly recommend the cauliflower if they have it), an arancini for 1,50 (needs extra salt though) and so on... I think the most expensive plate was still under 10 euros, so indulge! The food is clean and good, the service is strange but hospitable even if your Italian sucks, and the ambiance is authentic. The only downside is that they don't have everything every day. Bottom line: Without hesitation, go!

Solid 4.5 stars for this place! Located right across the street from Hotel Plaza Operá where we…read morestayed during our visit to Sicily, this place seems to be somewhat of a hidden gem of sorts. Practically every day it was a bit quiet, but come evening time, & I'm talking late night around 9-10p, this place would light up with activity. We could see this place from our 3rd floor room & some nights we could hear the crowds, even with the windows closed. Figured that was a good sign, so for our last dinner we opted to give them a try, especially with the decent reviews on TripAdvisor. Our waiter, Michael, was super friendly & did his best to explain the menu. I was hoping to get Shep whom reviewers on the other site said was super helpful, but those were from Sept/Oct, so maybe he's moved on? Anyways, We explained we were there for the pizza & was going to share one. He asked about any starter & recommended a fried ravioli. Yum, that sounded perfect! Unfortunately, he must've got confused from our ordering, as that never came out. Instead we received a dish that was similar to a caprese salad but with burrata cheese, which we were NOT mad at! It was delicious!! I was also in the mood to try a nice Sicilian red wine, so he was kind enough to suggest at first a Syrah, but knowing I'm not a real fan I asked for something else & his follow up suggestion was very good! Had to take a pic so I could remember it later. We also asked if we could do a CYO pizza, & opted for one with mozzarella, salame (he called pepperoni) & bacon. He said they were happy to oblige. The drinks came out with complimentary warm toasted bread w/sesame seeds & brought out 2 EVOOs & a balsamic vinegar spray-that was a little weird but still good. Michael saw me mixing them on my plate & came over to 'help' by adding some pink Himalayan salt & Pepper freshly grounded. That did add a nice flavor. When the pizza came out, it looked & smelled amazing! And we definitely were happy with our meal! I wished there was a little more salame on it, but it had a nice spiciness to it, while the bacon pieces were a good size & plentiful. After dinner, we decided to have dessert & since they didn't have the ricotta for the cannoli we had hoped for (Hubs loves him some cannolis), we went with the chocolate lava cake with some lemoncello. It was sooo good & they even gave the lemoncello "on-the-house"! It was reeeeally good too!! So while Michael was very friendly & attentive (a little TOO attentive if you ask us), the service & food was great! With it conveniently located, it was definitely a win-win. FYI-They got a lovely covered patio area where every night we saw/heard patrons enjoying themselves, I would definitely say this is a great place to try if you're in the area. And with the late hours, open till 11p or sometimes midnight, you can enjoy the night away!!!
