My Philly cheesesteak looked tasty, but the meat was so dry it was almost worse than had it looked disgusting to begin with, you know? My FB Singles group had a Meet'N'Greet there last night... I reserved tables and there was a mixup so when we arrived the night manager Theo was a bit unprepared (not his fault)....BUT HE WAS A CHAMP!!! He got us all set up and going with very little delay! The waitress for our section, i was told, was new but she was AMAZING!! Props to Theo for handling 50 people as a surprise like it was just another night! So professional and so welcoming.... We will be having more events here because they didn't make us feel like a problem!! His boss should give him and that fabulous waitress a raise!!! read more

Went in today (Sunday), played on 9' table as usual, service was ok, not bad, not great!. Ordered usual hamburger grilled medium, with mustard, pickle ,lettuce, tomato, n fries. Burger was extra well done, hockey puck-saw dust consistency like, no tomato, no mustard, (mustard and tomato never arrived in spite of two requests, fry's were barely warm. Great dive bar that is larger than what you'd expect. Lots of pool tables and dart boards. The giant leather chairs are amazing. There's also a private room, with a speakeasy type entrance door. It's been about a year since we were there last and it's always been good. But going back today was a huge surprise! The place was so clean and nice. The two ladies who served us were fantastic and really took great care of us. Food was very good and a good value for the cost. They have lots of tables but I severely don't recommend going on the weekends or if you're from out of town. It can be difficult, confusing, and somewhat unwelcoming. Poor service. An establishment cannot have 6 servers walk pass customers without acknowledging them. Waited at the bar for 15 minutes and no service was provided. It wasn't even busy at the bar. I really don't want to trash my local bar I'll give you guys some suggestions instead... Word on the street is that the drinks are weak. I have counted pours (seconds) for doubles that were not to be considered doubles. One time I went in with a friend and we drank doubles all night and had a hefty bar tab, but neither one of us were as drunk as we should've been! Other people I know have had the same experience. If you come here, stick to beer. Also, please invest in heaters of some kind on your patio. You're the only bar that doesn't have at least one installed! Why? The place has recently changed. Adults are now being carded as they enter the doors and if they do not have a driver's license, they are not allowed to drink. My family stopped in to play pool and have a couple of drinks. Even though I am over 50 years old, I was not allowed to drink since I didn't have my card with me. Very frustrating! First time we went there to eat we left because they acted like we were invisible. We tried again a couple months later and we were not very impressed. Burgers were mediocre, meat didn't have much taste, buns were tasteless and too thick, I took the top bun off of mine because there was no point in eating it. Food is good but the people at the front desk, bar, servers all were all rude as fuck both the 2nd and 3rd times we ordered from them. The 1st time, their boss was around so of course they put on their masks that time. As professional as they sound on the phone is not how they act when my husband or I pick our food up. They've ignored us multiple times, turned their backs on us, been very short...not a very welcoming atmosphere really, unless of course you're WHITE, that is. An older white lady arrived after us and after completely ignoring us even before she had arrived, when she got there they began talking to her and servicing her. Had a tip ready after getting the food, still ignored so I kept it. Then they "forgot" the gravy on hubby's chicken fried chicken when on the menu it says it comes with it. The food is good but not THAT damn good to deal with this. I'll also make sure to add this review to the popular wichita food groups. Nobody wants to pick up food from b*tches with stank attitudes or discriminatory biases. Seek help. Get therapy and find a different job, you miserable bigots. It was really warm inside started sweating and I hadn't even gone through run game of pool yet was there with a friend of mine we had one picture of beer and only had one table wasn't even on the table for 30 minutes so it was very expensive 18 bucks for a picture of beer and a pool table and then me and my friend were both sweating our butt off in there because it's so warm so it's kind of hard to give a positive rating for this place at this time read more

We had our 2nd visit and we came for the Chiefs game (12-23-18) we again sat in the same place like last visit. Again our waitress was worn thin. We had bad service again... All orders were slow for odering, slow receiving, and no pre-bus!!! We had a table full of dishes, drinking glasses. We ended up cleaning and moving our own table. I know servers get hit but it would be GREAT to have a full staff that can handle the over flow. What finished it off was paying with cash. The waitress to my cash (granted it wasn't much $3) and never brought back the change to even be offered as to get a tip. I came here with my buddy on his 21st birthday and was treated very rudely by the bouncers. I am under 21 and obviously the designated driver. We were standing around for a while and I had to use the restroom and was followed in by one of the bouncers and he immediately accused me of trying to wash the sharpie off of my hands and then proceeded to COVER the backs of both hands with sharpie which you can still see today, two days later, and after lots of scrubbing. My friend and I went in for the burgers. I really hadn't heard of Side Pockets, so we thought we would give it a try. It's very dark inside, coming in from bright sunshine. We found our way to a table and were greeted very quickly and given menus. After our drinks were served, we ordered our basic burger order...cheeseburger, grilled onions, pickles and mustard and fries. The order was served. The thing I noticed first was the size! At least 1/2 lb. as advertised. PLENTY of onions with pickles on the side. The first bite proved especially satisfying. And the second and the third, etc. We both noticed after that that the onions were difficult to bite through, like the skin of the onion had not been peeled away before grilling. Finally we just had to scrape the onions off. I hope just a one time occurrence. A-OK otherwise. Fries were tasty too. read more

This place is my stompin' ground! Heart the staff (especially Barb, Matt and Steve), heart the tables (bar boxes AND full sized), heart the drinks and dig all the screens in there. The volume on the jukebox could be turned up a little but it's not so low that you've gotta shut your date up to hear "More Than a Feeling". It can get pretty damn packed but who could blame em....50 cent pool and extremely reasonably priced alcohol. They're not your typical bar dive prices but you definitely get your money's worth. Haven't gotten my paws on the darts yet but they look like they're in good condition. Haven't seen any bar brawls go down so drama is minimal. They also just built an outside patio area for you smokers. Cough. This place is for both the casual and serious pool player. I'll probably see ya there! read more

So my girlfriend and I like to play pool, and if you ever go to sidepockets you'd know that they have a crap load of pool tables. The pool tables are all pretty nice and well taken care of. That was the positive of my evenings there, now my negative: Both times we went we received little to no customer service. At first we would think it's a little busy and maybe they just haven't found the time to make it to us, but then when i see the table next to us getting service several times and I have to approach the server and tell her we need attention that is an issue. One of the times we went the server was attending to her family which was 10 feet away from us and she still never even came by to fill our water...it was really annoying. I'm not sure if this is a race thing because i was the only black male in the whole place , I try to leave race out of this but I went there before with a big group of not as diverse guys(mostly white) and I actually got great service then but when my girlfriend and I went I received horrible service that says something. Then last week I went there with a friend of mine(another black male) and unlike the time I went with my girlfriend, I didnt even have a server come up to see if we wanted a drink or to order any food. Again it's busy and all but when i see you take the order of two tables on either side of me it tells me a little more than it's just busy. Finally after me complaining to my friend within ear reach of the server they finally came over and asked us if we would like anything....we've only been there playing pool for an hour with my friend having already ordered several beers from the bar. This establishment has not lost my service because it's about the only good pool hall in Wichita that i can think of(if you know any ones close let me know and I will be happy to take my business elsewhere) but as far as anything more than just pool I go get elsewhere before visiting. read more
