We recently visited sidebar for taco Tuesday! For this place to be in the middle of the city, they have it figured out. From the menu, to the separate floors based on what mood your in, the server we had was super nice but we can tell she was working majority of the floor by herself. The top floor is a restaurant (although every floor serves food and has a bar, the second floor(the floor you enter on, is chill, not too loud, not too dim, you can easily have a conversation in this space and place your order with ease. Now if you're looking for unapologetic turn up, skip on down to the basement where you can feel the vibe of the basement through the floors! Venue: This is a dive bar with a great neighborhood feel to it and I loved it. I went here with a friend who was visiting from out of town because I found it on recommendations in Reddit. The question was opposed there: Where can I get drunk for cheap? Sidebar was one of the recommendations. While we didn't go to get hammered, we could have. The drinks are plentiful and affordable. As for the staff, they were great. They were chatty and friendly once we made the initial effort to connect. Verdict: Will return. My only regret is that I don't live closer. If I did, it would be MY neighborhood haunt. read more

The drinks here were great! They have a nice variety of alcohol and different types of liquor. It's also priced fairly reasonably and located quite close to GeorgiaU. The ambiance is nice. The basement is for the 20 - 32 year old crowd, they have a dj playing loud mumble rap and waitresses dressed like bottle girls. My friends and I requested to sit upstairs and they quickly made accommodations for us to be seated upstairs. Upstairs is an older vibe, soulful 90s music and the music is low enough that you can have a conversation without screaming. The bartenders was also the waitresses which sucked because the service was extra slow. They seemed to attend more to the people sitting at the bar. The food was just ok. I had fried fish and fried shrimp, It taste like the used the same batter and grease for both. My friends said the drinks were strong and good. Parking is terrible in that area and you have to get your bags checked or a pat down when entering. read more

Found this place on TikTok, they advertised there 4-8 happy hour R&B Fridays. So me and my friends wanted to try it out, the server wasn't that great, we asked about the happy hour special and she only mentioned the drinks, so I asked about the food special (which they advertised) she said they don't have any. So I showed her the advertisement and then she was like "oh yeah" then after we ordered what we wanted, she came back and told us they basically only had 3 things off of the happy hour menu available, they ran out of Togo containers and she said they had no bags but after bugging her, she found some. She seemed annoyed that we wanted things from the happy special (that they heavily advertised), there were 6 of us and we didn't only order off the happy hour menu but I mean that's why we came . These 3 stars are reserved for the music and games in the lounge only. I ordered the Calypso burger, which has jerk seasoning or sauce and mango chutney. I held the mango but maybe I shouldn't have because this wasn't a jerk burger... at all. They let you choose your protein, I got a turkey burger. It wasn't good. I ate it and it ate me as soon as I got home. Bleh. My stomach is still in revolt. This might be a spot you should go for drinks, games, and music and I just missed the memo. The establishment is also not far from the streetcar line. There's three entrances. One door is on fairle street, second door on poplar street and the last on a little alley behind the bar. The establishment is split up in two sections three types of seating. Bar with high tables and stools, outdoor patio behind the bar and mini booths with individual tvs in the dining room towards the Forsyth street entrance. Bar have at least seven tvs and one projector. Main dining room have tvs in the booths and few on the walls. Free WiFi is available. Cell service can be spotty time to time and there's no smoking throughout the restaurant. The food. Basic bar food with a Spanish twist. Menu have changed over the years though. Here's what I have and liked. -Sidebar Cuban 7.99 consisted in house slow roasted Cuban pork, pork with Swiss cheese pressed on authentic Cuban bread. -Sidebar Wings 7.99 for ten. Large wings with four flavors to choose. -Hot-zarella Sticks 7.49 to 10.49 basic lyrics mozzarella sticks with a spicy breading. -Chef salad 7.79 my favorite.This huge salad is. They also have a lot of regulars and the bar staff turnover is very low. Infact some leave and comeback to work again. I usually get attentive service by Felicia,Jayzmn or Kieran . The verdict.. Sidebar is very unique . Its the only bar in downtown that shows UFC fights with no cover. Closes around midnight on the weekends. Found this gem last night after watching a play at Theatrical Outfit. As we walked in, we were greeted by the staff. It is a small place with a great vibe. We ordered Dream Keepers, a signature cocktail, which was delicious. We both got the chef salad, which was more than we could eat. The service was perfect and everyone was very friendly. Bar staff just seems very overworked. Was there this past week and they all have positive attitudes, but you can tell they're pulling some rough hours and probably not being properly compensated. Body language, listless eyes, etc...all tell tale signs. Food is good and drinks are the standard tasty fair for downtown. But I just can't get on board with the treatment of employees. The rice was horrible. It tasted like the microwave rice. And there was nothing on it. No salt, no nada. The beans seemed to have a nice flavor but who eats beans alone? My first visit to SideBar about a year ago was when I had my first introduction with several yelpers (Greg V. Jason 'cruise director' K. just to name a few) of course the lovely Lauren S. was also there. Well wanting to watch the game this weekend I meet up with the homies at SideBar. I had no idea there was even a bar in the back. I always though the little booth/billards area was as good as it gets. I had a nice time, seeing my fellow Florida dwellers. The beers were affordable $5.25 for a Stellla. The service here was very attentive and fast. At halftime Sidebar gives out comp. shots, and they have drawings where the customers win prizes. I wanted to love this place. The building was unique, it was super convenient considering our Airbnb was next door and the food was truly delicious. BUT it's a huge RED FLAG when my credit card alerts me of fraudulent charges. And it wasn't just me! We went with another couple and they too were alerted. After calling my credit card company I was informed of two separate charges (both were WAY more than our bill) AND someone tried to add my card to their apple pay!!! This is no way to treat paying customers and I hope others will pay attention after going here. Smoky dive bar that reminds me a little too much of my favorite college bars. Sticky floors, giggly bartenders, and unkempt bathrooms. I would like this place a lot more if I could actually get a drink. But on both occasions - when I came by myself to a nearly-empty bar and when I brought a large group - the ladies at the bar ignored me in favor of flirting with men at the bar. Guess they're going for a tip? I'm not amused. They seemed more annoyed than happy that I just brought them 40 paying customers. SideBar has a huge back room with booths with flat screens and pool tables, but they have such a small staff it doesn't do much good to hang out back there if you're wanting some service. Beer selection was pretty minimal. 4 or 5 taps and none of them are priced well. They had well drinks and shots that some people enjoyed. It was a good addition to my Pub Crawl, but I don't think I'll ever be back here. However if you like the sticky floors and inattentive bartenders, it might be just what you're looking for. read more

A surprisingly spacious bar considering it's basically in an alley. Sidebar is heavy on sports watching and alcohol, and light on the appetizers and sandwiches on the menu. The food is standard bar food with a lot of variations of pressed sandwiches on the menu. Sidebar attracts a heavy dose of the after work crowd from downtown. You won't see much convention attendee traffic in there due to the bar's relatively low profile location. Sidebar is alright, but I really only go there when I'm meeting up with friends who work downtown and they choose it. I'm not even sure where to start. Tried this place out for Super Bowl Sunday based on what was advertised on insta and it was the complete opposite. There wasn't anyone playing bingo and no one mentioned the raffles. There was not a full kitchen, but a select menu that had all meat options (aside from the sides), no seafood or even cheese sticks etc for those who do not eat meat). The service was extremely poor and the server seemed to have had an attitude with us the entire time. The "sides" size was a joke. For $3 I expect to get more than a ketchup container worth of potato salad or baked beans. The drinks were not even worth drinking, despite having paid for them. We inquired about the third floor and 2 staff members, both servers said there were only 2 floors. On top of that, I received a notification that my card was charged a different amount than the authorized amount from Sunday. All I'm saying is, don't expect much, except the automatic gratuity (scam) and to absolutely positively pay in cash. Never going back. Horrific experience. read more

Went here after a Thrashers game and its definitely a little hole in the wall bar that is tough to find if you don't know how to get there. The place is absolutely huge and expands downstairs into a vast pool and darts room. They also had a arcade super shot basketball machine last time I was there along with air hockey. If there's one thing I like about bars, its having plenty of activities for drunk people to do and Sidebar has it covered. The cuban I got here was pretty much a joke but that's the only thing ive tried on the menu so other stuff might be better. read more

This place is an OKAY place to go with a group of friends to have drinks and shoot pool in the back room. They're really friendly with mixing up the type of music they play. The food is pricey, but then it's understandable with the portion that comes with it. I have tried their sandwich entrees as well as their fries/tater tots. It's just okay. Their wings aren't bad though! Pretty tasty. Other than that, my only complaint is the ventilation. Once I left the place, I smelled like grease and oil. First of all, this is a Florida Gators bar! Everyone is welcome but if you are looking for a place to watch a Gator game then you found it! It is full of energy and excitement! The staff is really friendly and the bartenders actually know what they are doing. The drinks are phenomenal! Now the food selections, on the other hand, are not desirable. I came here after looking at a condo around the corner, and before watching the Braves opener. I had read good reviews. I was not disappointed. This place has character. I was with a Real Estate Attorney who has also lived in Manhattan and we thought the long wood bar, narrow lay-out,and wooden chairs all reminded us of a Midtown Sports Bar/Irish Bar. They had a great assortment of liquors, awesome draft beers, and specials. We did not try the food. The service, was good, even if a tad aloof. The bar kind of reminded me of Engine 11 on North Ave which I used to pop by from time to time between my affairs downtown. I suspect I will be back here. read more

It's cool but if u can't stand smoke don't come. I want for a DJ event that featured 90s music..great time. I missed the drink specials but the regular prices were alright. The street parking is tricky because it's located in the narrow streets downtown. The parking meters are free after a certain time so that's a good thing and if you are a GA State student, you can pick up their free wi-fi by using your GSU password. ;-) G-S-U!!! Nice little bar over by Georgia state. I found this place through scoutmob when I was looking for a quiet place to grab a bite and study between classes. This was NOT it. (That's my fault. It's called sideBAR. I don't know why I thought it would be quiet.) Despite it being the exact opposite of what I was expecting, I still had a good experience. I ordered the Super Cuban and loved it. Be careful though, it's a huge portion enough to feed two hungry people. The bartender made me a delicious rum runner. With the scoutmob discount my bill came to a little over $10 but I would go back even without a discount. Bar food and beers. The menu doesn't particularly appeal to me and to many smokers in the establishment. To be fair though, smoking is allowed inside eating establishments in ATL. They recently remodeled it and closed off the back area with the pool table so it's much smaller now and less to do besides drinking and socializing. I should have seen the warning signs when I walked up! The sandwich board had a listing of their food, services & entertainment. Crossed out in thin black marker were the items they no longer carried - shuffleboard, no longer! // and some random other items that were crossed out -including raising the price. I chuckled. He continued with his rant and I knew he was so past drunk there was no point in explaining the reasons I didn't need to cope with life using alcohol like him. He was obtrusive and just annoying. I ignored him. The bar kept the shots coming for him. My Sprite arrives and I soon realize it's tonic water. I'm like "something is wrong with this". She returns and fills up my cup with a canned Sprite. Eeeek. I order a burger and fries and I ask what kind of fries do they serve. "Are they crinkle?", "Are they shoe string?" The bartender replies "They are nothing special, they look like those over there". My meal soon arrives and the burger looks like one of those frozen patties you get at big box warehouse grocery store. It is HUGE, but looks tasteless and cafeteria looking. To my surprise the fries are yummy. HOT, perfectly seasoned. My server eventually returns and I have to ask for silverware because I soon realize eating this giant pattie is awkward. The drunk guy next to me has moved on to his next victim on the other side of him and the bar is still pouring! Went twice after organizing a group of 20 people for a meetup.First time was alright even though it was only the bartenders serving for the whole place. I was kinda shocked and stunned at the rudeness.I just answered by saying hey Im with that group of people that came last week and Im waiting on them.". She was like I know in a "i really dont care" voice" She left out to smoke and I was still sitting there kinda like,"what just happened?"I finally decided to leave but I knew my friends were coming so I tried to juts reason with her one more time before I Ieft.
