She didn't know the position of my baby. She said he was LOA. Really, he was asynclitic posterior. She had me pushing for so long that my cervix was so swollen and when I transferred, I was 6 cm. They don't know if I got to 10 but I pushed for 3 hours at home. At home, I kept telling Gina something was wrong. All I wanted to do was be on my hands and knees. She kept wrapping a blanket around me and forcing me up to "engage the baby." When I told her I was going to pass out, she put on oxygen on me and left the room. She did not turn on the oxygen tank. When I told her I wanted to transfer to the hospital, she didn't take me to the facility in my birth plan. I later learned it was because she had just taken a client to that facility so she drove me farther to a different hospital. I felt such immense pain- I later learned it was because my bladder prolapsed from pushing for so long at home. Gina kept saying she could see the head, but I didn't feel it. It's because she was seeing my bladder, which the hospital instantly recognized. Getting my bladder moved to get a catheter was an agonizing process. I was GBS+. I was a primip. I was 42+1. I was only 6 cm. There was thick meconium. The baby was asynclitic posterior. I required an emergency c section for prolonged late decelerations. My baby had to be resuscitated. My care at the hospital was delayed. Why? Because Gina refused to transfer my records so I had to slowly, painstakingly tell my history between contractions with a prolapsed bladder. Since she refuses to transfer my records, I was drug tested and the baby was drug tested because it was as if I had just come off the street with no prenatal care to have a baby. I filed a complaint with the state. Gina was found guilty of negligence. She fled town and moved up to Denver. She changes practices every couple years. She disables reviews on every midwifery pages she's been involved in because of my child's story.

When my birth plan took a detour at 36 weeks (breach) I was very heartbroken, but she was still very encouraging no matter how my baby decided to come. And baby decided to come early via emergency c/s. Alexandria was there for us right away. A couple of days after I was discharged, Alexandria came by our home to visit. With her memories, insight and retelling of my babies birth, I was able to reframe the experience in such a better light. Enough that I look back on it with just as much joy as if she came naturally! Even if I had known a c/s was necessary months prior, I still am glad I hired Alexandria. On top of her loving doula service, she also encapsulated the placenta. I can't explain how helpful the placenta was for my recovery. I had plenty of energy those first few weeks, my milk was flowing without effort, no sadness, and the salve she also made for my scar helped it heal great.

I was never really into yoga prior to this pregnancy (my first) but decided to give it a try as I read it can be very helpful in preparing for birth. I am SO glad I did and that I found Alexandria. She was kind, warm and encouraging throughout my classes with her, offering excellent suggestions to any issues that came up as well as lending an ear when I just needed to vent. She truly cares and it comes across in her practice. The class itself isn't difficult, she does a good job of modifying anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, but it also made my body stronger and more flexible. I always felt more relaxed and yet somehow also energized after her class. Additionally, the meditation which she incorporates into the class has been so helpful and I feel has really prepared me for natural birth. I have way more confidence in my body and myself now and I owe so much of that to Alexandria and her class.

My first two were delivered at a birth center near Denver, which we loved. However, after our experience with Seasons we found that it was an even better experience. The front desk staff has always been so welcoming in person and on the phone. Each of the midwives is not only highly skilled, but they are so wonderful when I come in with my two other kiddos (at the time 2 and 4 years old). They allow them to help with the doppler ultrasound, blood pressure,etc. As a parent, this is so wonderful, especially because they would look forward to the baby appointments so they could help and it made them even more excited for their baby! Each session I felt like I had so much time with the midwives to ask whatever questions I wanted and even though this was my third baby, I had a lot of extra curiosity questions due to my line of work. My birth could not have been more peaceful and calming due to my birth team. I not only had my husband and my doula, who they welcomed with open arms, but I had our amazing midwife Aubre (who delivered our first baby at the other birth center), a student midwife, and a wonderful nurse. The entire team made me feel so supported, empowered, and confident. The room felt so comforting by its design, it's warmth, and perfect lighting that together made for me to feel so comfortable. I had made birth plans and goals with my birth team, which my main one was to prevent tearing if possible. I had tearing with my first two births and made a plan with my midwives and doula as to my birthing position and warm compress to help reduce my risk of tearing this time around. Aubre did a great job of supporting my perineum with warm compress and reminding me of the birthing position and I didn't tear this time, which was a game changer in my healing. The team took my vitals and checked baby's heart rate when necessary and only checked my cervix once to see where I was at, but only after I was completely settled into the room. After the birth, I felt like a queen! The team at Seasons took such good care of me! The nurse checked in on us, but left us to sleep and bond. She kept bringing us food and set me up with a wonderful bath (set me up with shampoo, sope, robe... the works). My postpartum hours spent at Seasons I will remember forever. I felt so supported and cared for. My baby was cuddling on my husband's chest, the light was dim, I had a full stomach and I was relaxing in a warm bath reflecting on my amazing birth. If you are considering a birth center, this is the place to be. The entire team from the front desk to the midwives to the nurses and the facility itself are the best around. Being in the birth world, I know a lot about the hospitals and other birth centers and this one is absolutely the best. I look forward to watching their continued growth and support in the community! They are great to ease my concerns and give peace of mind where I need it. One thing I've missed is being able to speak with a nurse over the phone. Though it's nice to come in the same day, it can be expensive and I'm used to being able to consult with a nurse on the phone to ease concerns. I'd recommend if you need a hands on team to help you understand and walk you through your pregnancy.

Dr. Bush is a genius, and a very calm, steady figure, especially as the head of your IVF plan, as he was for ours. We came to Conceptions after years of infertility and recurrent miscarriages. After all the initial testing we decided to go with IVF as the success rates are very high here at conceptions. I almost didn't go through with IVF as the cost, stress of going through the process, and fear of it not working really weighed on me. Luckily, I didn't let that all stop me, so we went through the egg retrieval process. Dr. Chiang did my egg retrieval and I had pretty much no pain post OP - it went so much smoother than I could have imagined. (I was really afraid of having the retrieval and let horror stories on line scare me - lol!) Everyone was so kind and reassuring before and after the procedure. We had great success creating embryos, and after the first embryo transfer failed, Dr. Bush personally made sure he was there to do the trial transfer prior to the real one. He assured me the next transfer was going to work - and guess what - it did! We had a successful pregnancy and birth and the whole team - from IVF to transfers - made our dream of a family come true. I am so glad I came to Conceptions to go through IVF. I want to add that some people leaving reviews say they never saw the doctor but once or twice. While this may be true, please know that the doctors are working hard behind the scenes even when you're not meeting with them. They are creating your specially tailored protocol, going over your bloodwork and results, and making sure you are being taken care of. The IVF and transfer teams relay any messages from the doctors and are just as hard working too. Everybody at this clinic cares about you and your success. I have never had positive experiences with healthcare providers until I came to Conceptions. They make sure that you have the tools you need to have a successful IVF or transfer cycle, even when it feels so hard to go through. The doctors, the front desk staff, the nurses, the phlebotomists, the embryologist team, the ultrasound technicians, and even the billing department and financial coordinators all are kind, understanding, and thoughtful when communicating with you. I would choose Conceptions over and over again - they are truly a world class IVF clinic and I feel extremely lucky to have happened to live nearby and go through one of life's toughest medical treatments with these amazing medical professionals. 2ND UPDATE: // TLDR We attempted a 2nd IUI at age 43 for me…read more(first one was at age 41), and that one resulted in another beautiful baby girl. We literally were 2/2 on IUI. As with the first IUI, it involved very little medication. We are very thankful and blessed. Again, my Conceptions fertility doctor (Dr O'Shaughnessy) told me my eggs were no good and I wouldn't be able to conceive with my own eggs, but I really think she's full of sh*. UPDATE: // TLDR Conceptions advised against IUI, which is the procedure we wanted to undergo. They gave no legitimate reason, and I doubt the doctor even reviewed my previous records as she said she would. I had 2 failed IVF protocols here, the first one of which was an improper protocol (by the doctor's own words). I was told my eggs were no good and I needed an egg donor ($55K+), but I went to my original clinic in Arizona and got pregnant on first attempt with IUI with minimal medication compared to IVF. 2 MONTHS LATER. We are now the proud parents of a healthy, beautiful baby girl. This clinic definitely feels like a cash grab and I'm convinced the doctor we had is full of s*** and primarily motivated by money not results. IUI costs maybe $1K vs IVF which is about $10K-20K for most people, even with insurance.

Never mind the fact that I had a real reason to see the doctor. I understand needing to keep a schedule, but 5 minutes is hardly late, and they didn't try to call to check on my status. They clearly just wanted to pack the schedule. Instead, they lost a patient, lost the insurance billing, and I'm at a loss for taking care of my medical need. Very disappointing. It's also appears to be a major issue with this office because many of the low star reviews say the same thing. Please look through the Yelp and Google reviews to see that this is not a one-off complaint. This is a very poor representation of medical care or woman prioritization. They do not want to actually see patients or accommodate the poor directions or complicated building.

Laura took the time to come into our home and explain everything in detail, helping us feel informed and comfortable. During the pregnancy, she was always just a text away, especially when I was feeling impatient for the baby to arrive. She was right by my side during the birth of our son, and continued to be a steady source of guidance during the roller coaster of postpartum. I hired them mostly for support during birth, but I ended up having a quick labor and a very challenging postpartum period. They were there for all of it in every way I needed them. Each woman brings a different set of skills to the table, but they all offer exceptional prenatal/labor/postpartum support. If you're considering hiring a doula for your birth, do yourself a favor and allow these women to help make it a beautiful experience.

Especially if this is your first baby, after going through it, doing it without a doula is simply unimaginable. More on why below. Boulder and environs are not short on doulas as we learned when we moved here two months ago, seven months pregnant). Boulder Doula's Circle was recommended to us by a friend, but we were hesitant at first - like many health providers, on the "big day" you do not know which of the three doulas you might end up with. What if we had a favorite or were not crazy about one of them? This is intimate family stuff after all. However, after a 1:1 meeting and attending one of their monthly birth circle open houses at the Mamahood, we knew it was not just a case of being the "right fit" for us, but so much more. Suddenly we felt incredibly supported by these three very wise, very experienced, and very fun women. Each brings a unique set of skills to the table that will benefit you, not just on the big day, but throughout your pregnancy. Whether it was herbs, exercises, guiding us to other resources in the community, pre-natal home visits, or post-partum visits, Amanda, Rachel and April gave way more than we ever imagined. We were clueless, but by the time labor arrived we were super-educated, prepared, and confident. And the benefits of their support during labor cannot be overstated. Its difficult to express how grateful we are to these three. Another aspect of the team-doula approach: you can't end up in a situation where your one doula is on vacation or at another birth, leaving you in the lurch. Or, if, heaven-forbid, you have a marathon labor, you can get a hand-off, where one of them will come in as relief. A final thing to add - while we were on board with their approach, we saw other couples who had different ideas of what they wanted (or didn't want) and all three of the doulas were really non-judgmental and supportive. I suppose that in this world thats normal, but there was something genuine about it - its not that they were hiding what they really thought, but that they were truly not judging and wanted to do whats best for their pregnant mamas and their babies. In this incredible, exciting, daunting process of starting a family, I cannot stress how great it was to have these three as counsel.
