Well, it happened; Dr. Smith retired {sigh} He was a talker, but apparently, I'd gotten accustomed and developed a preference for his and Kamren's style and care. Signature Optometry took on Dr. Smith's patients. Everyone in my family needs/wears glasses and contacts, and I've now gone through each family member's visits for the year so I feel ok to leave a review now haha Before I get into it, I want to mention that prices for services and glasses at this office are fantastic. They offer custom made frames - for a lot more but if you struggle being satisfied with the look of your glasses, this is a wonderful option. First, this office is in one of those small professional office complexes on Palm across the street from Bullard High School (consider the horrible traffic in and near the school in the early morning and 3:00ish when making appointments). Not an old building but not one of the new modern complexes that all the medical offices are flocking too (which in my mind, has to translate to higher service fees). What matters to me is the equipment and expertise of the practice. Dr. Fisher hits both of these, and records are in the computer not paper files like Dr. Smith, bless his heart. It reminded me more of a Kaiser visit, which is a positive for me. I liked his explanation of astigmatism to my youngest girl (we all have it, hers is the worst). I can't help but compare this practice to our old doctor, sorry. When you first come to this office, they ask for your medical information, a copy of your I.d. and they take your blood pressure. These annoyed me and feel overly cautious, but I understood their reasoning and they aren't militant about it. I also don't care for the dr aide doing the first part of the exam. I've worn glasses for over 40 years and am used to the optometrist doing the entire exam. But that didn't end up being too big a deal either because she did the minor stuff. (I noticed there was a different tech after our first or second visit; hope that isn't an indication of high staff turnover.) Each of us has been happy with our new glasses and contacts. It's taking some getting used to new personalities and differences in care at this office, but with each visit, the staff has been great. Though I really miss Kamren and his care, the tech at this office that helps with frame fittings is also really great. I'm so bad with names but the other gentleman that assists with processing sales/orders is also really great. I think there are two women who handle appointments and that is taking some getting used to but they are nice and try to be helpful. I'm confident we are going to have fine care here - super hope so because I hate finding a good optometrist for my favorite purchase of the year haha read more

I'm lucky enough to have pretty good vision, but I drag myself out to get an eye test once in awhile just to make sure. It'd been 5 years since my last eye exam. A friend was talking about organizing her day around an eye test and I asked if she recommended Dr Fisher. She said she likes that he keeps a note of her overall health and checks things like blood pressure and medications to ensure that nothing he does conflicts with her other health arrangements. I thought that sounded good, so I decided to give Signature Optometry a shot. Once I looked them up on Yelp I realized that many of my Yelp Elite friends already come here, too, so that was good to see. I called and made an appointment for a week or two later. The receptionist seemed to be new but was getting guidance from another staffer. I came in and they saw me right on time. Dr Fisher took a bunch of notes and was easy to talk to. He was communicative throughout about what each of the testing techniques is for, what he's looking for at each stage, and what he's noticing. I felt like I was part of the process rather than just being told to do random actions for unknown reasons. I appreciated that. He did ask about dilation towards the end of the appointment - I would have done it if I weren't driving home alone. I think if that's on the cards it'd be worth having the scheduler mention it so I could've come prepared. No big deal though. Dr Fisher determined that I could use a light prescription but it wasn't necessary, and didn't pressure me to fill it like the last optometrist I saw did. He let me know it was on file in case I want to fill it. Easy-going place, I had a good experience and will definitely be back. read more

I found myself in A Christmas Story "You'll poke your eye out kid!" I poked my fingernail into my eye on Christmas night.. Managed to tear up my cornea a bit. I found them because they take emergency appointments.. contacted them first thing in the AM on the 26th and they got me in right away! The exam was so thorough he caught an eye problem separate from my stupid cornea I recently ended up in the hospital, and that problem caused an eye problem. I knew it was possible, but I had hoped it didn't happen to me.. Well it did and he took care of starting me on the path to recovery for both issues. Due to the emergency appointment.. I had to pay extra, but I was told up front, and it was understandable and let's just say he's got a new patient (even if he doesn't want me) j/k read more

I relocated to Fresno not so long ago and finally was going to see an optometrist. I found Signature Optometry on Yelp and scheduled an appointment. They offer evening appointments on Thursdays, but book out a month in advance. They use text messages to remind you of the appointments, which I found very convenient. The check in process is easy and the wait for the doctor is minimal (10 min from the time of my appointment). I needed both eyeglasses and contact lens exam. Dr. Fisher took his time getting to know my health history, addressed my main concern and actually did not rush through the exam. I don't think I have ever got a more comprehensive exam than this time. It's not just the modern (or to me it appeared modern) equipment, but the education and information that I was provided that I valued most. Another important thing. There was not pressure to order anything there, but options were clearly provided. I think I will come back to order my glasses there. This is a solid family business, and I felt very comfortable doing business with them. read more

I was in Fresno from out of town and I found out my insurance would be changing soon through my employer. So I called around to see what places I could get into the same day. Low and behold I found Signature Optometry. They were able to squeeze me in for a last min appointment. I wasn't expecting much but it was a wonderful experience. The staff are very friendly, helpful and informative. I got in quickly and got to see someone very fast. Everyone I ran into was polite and friendly. I got my eye exam and a new prescription. All of it was explained step by step. They have a nice selection of glasses to choose from. I was in and out in just over 30 mins. read more

Dr. Jervy Smith, OD is an Optometry specialist. He graduated from the University of California, School of Optometry, at Berkeley. He has practiced for many years and is the owner of Spexiwear. I have been a patient for many years. What's I like best is the personal service and great selection of unique frames and lenses. It is a very relaxed setting unlike most businesses. There are no long lines before you see the doctor. Rather your visit is more personalized. I like this as a patient and customer. After I buy my glasses, I can come into the shop to have them tightened or repaired if needed. Typically I work with Cameron who is very efficient, personable, and professional. I love that they know me by name. The frames and lenses are a bit pricey but worth the personal service over time. Try it! You won't be disappointed. read more

Worst experience! I recently switched insurance and wanted to also switch optometrists. Big mistake. Don't be fooled by some of the reviews. I was a new patient, had a routine exam and Dr Fisher wanted to try a prism on my prescription which I've never had done, and I agreed to try. It didn't work. Received my frames and nothing about them felt right. When I looked around it felt like I was going cross eyed, but they said it'll take some time to adjust. I could not adjust it was hurting my right eye, and I should have not been driving home with them on. Took the frames back the next day, turns out Luna put in my prescription wrong. They let me walk out with an incorrect prescription and knew about it. She claims it was the labs fault because they didn't catch her error in time- please admit to your mistakes, we all make them. But they still let me walk out with my frames- because I needed to "adjust" and didn't let me know about her mistake. So they wanted to make it right and performed another exam, ordered another pair of frames. This time the prescription was too strong. When I went in again to see if I could get a refund because I've about had it with these exams and reorders. I didn't want to damage my eyes my giving them a THIRD chance to "make it right". Apparently they don't do refunds on the exams or frames nor call your insurance about it either. Why don't you make it right and do a thorough exam with new patients? Or at least apologize for providing such a horrible experience when I came in to pick up my frames? read more

This past week, I had my first appointment with Signature Optometry. The doctor and the staff were awesome. I had a problem with my glasses. They sent them back to the manufacturer and were returned to me completely repaired, no questions asked. My annual eye exam was also completed this last week as well. I was going to Costco for my eye exams due to convenience, and low cost. Exams were 10-15 minutes in and out, never the same doctor, which I thought was normal since I've only been to there for exams. I came here and it was really a night and day difference. Dr. Fisher's exam was at least 5x more thorough...from pre-exam to actual exam to advanced screening I learned that you get what you pay for, even though the cost wasn't significantly different. I went and saw Dr. Fisher for the first time a while ago, but have been meaning to get on here and do a review. I was so impressed by the time he took with me. I needed a late appointment (after work) and they totally accommodated. Then the doctor took so much time with me and really explained everything he was doing. He answered all of my questions and even helped recommend some glasses to me. My glasses were ordered quickly and came in so fast. The staff was so nice and spent extra time to make sure my glasses felt right. I even had to come back for another quick adjustment on my sunglasses and Dr. Fisher made sure they felt perfect before I left. I have just been really impressed by this office and the time they take with each patient. *On a side note...a coworker of mine mentioned he had just been to the eye doctor and after talking we realized he also saw Dr. FIsher. Had a wonderful experience here. The staff is VERY friendly and engaged. You can tell they truly want their patients to be as happy as can ve, no matter if it means helping them sort through 30 pairs of frames to do it Dr Fisher gave me a very through eye exam and was very easy to talk to and take direction from, plus he also came out to help me pick frames. I've been wearing glasses since I was 12, and no Dr has EVER been around when I was picking out frames, let alone offered their opinion on them. I'm pretty sure it's the owners wife that works the front desk and she is worthless. Dr. Fisher seems like a good dr but when it comes to frames they are not flexible or accommodating if the frames don't work out at the fitting! My daughter is 8 and one of her frames did not fit right at the fitting and they refuse to switch them out and there is no return or exchange policy posted anywhere. I had previously taken my 4 1/2 yr old to LensCrafters and was not happy with our experience. So I scheduled her an appt with Dr. Fisher and I am glad we did. He was great with her and explained every detail to her and I. He dilated her eyes to get a better look as well and found that the Rx that the other doctor gave her was way incorrect. WORST doctor, WORST experience ever with a doctor!! After spending over an hour in Dr. Fisher's office on an exam for my 14 y/o son, he refused to treat him because I did not want to switch to daily contacts from the biweekly contacts my son has been using for several years without any issues. He was very belittling and blatantly disregarded the fact that I am a single parent with only my income buying glasses and contacts for myself and two kids. After telling him I could not afford the price of the daily contacts he continued to fit him for them saying the biweekly contacts are not an option because he was currently in swim at school and my only other option was to buy prescription goggles if I was not going to buy him daily contacts (my son has been in swim since he was a toddler and has worn biweekly contacts with his goggles for several years now.) He then preached to me about a "standard of care" saying that contacts were a "luxury" and that he could no longer treat my son if I was not going to purchase daily contacts. In addition he refused to give me the prescription he just fitted my son for. As a health care professional myself, this is not how you treat patients and this man is not worthy of even one star! read more

I recently found myself in a situation where I needed some honest information from a local optometry office, I spend the entire day being lied to about what could be done and could not be done on a fast order of a pair of high index glasses or my grandson, by later afternoon I was totally confused and could not believe a word of what I had heard. A very dear friend of mine referred me to Signature Optometry, said she was very pleased with everyone she had encountered there, she said she was sure I would get an honest answer to my question. I have say it was a breath of fresh air, I spoke with a young woman by the name of Luna. As I went through my questions she not only gave me the answers I needed but did so in a manner that actually made me understand how to read the prescriptions and what each of the numbers meant. There were a couple of questions that she did not have the answer to so she said she would have Dr Fisher come and talk to me as he had a couple of minutes. Sure enough I got my questions answered. I was not only impressed that Dr Fisher took the time to help but the way Luna managed, all the customers as well as myself without making anyone feel slighted in customer service. Signature Optometry just got my family as new patients and I will be recommending their office to all my friends and Dr Fisher my hat is off to you for having such great front office employees. Especially Luna who apparently sets the standard of ethics the the rest of the staff aspire to. Admittedly, I've turned out to be a nightmare eyeglass customer. But despite the many complications and freak accidents I brought with me to Spex-I-Wear (too many and too complicated to detail here), Dr. Smith and Kamran were amazingly patient and accommodating, and I now have the best glasses ever. Their frame collection is unique, Dr. Smith determined the most accurate prescription of my life, and the customer service provided by Kamran has been so far beyond the call of duty, it's hard to believe. I live 200 miles away (another long story), but when it comes time to update my glasses it will definitely be worth the commute. My highest recommendation! read more

I took my daughter to see Dr. Fisher last week. She was very nervous because it was her first eye exam. The staff was very friendly and patient. They helped to make her feel comfortable when she was scared and appehensive. Dr. Fisher was especially patient when my daughter refused to let him put eye drops in her eyes. He finally convinced her that the drops were necessary and would not hurt. He even put them in his own eyes to show her what it was like. She let him put the drops in and he was able to finish the exam. We were very pleased with the service and staff. We were also pleased to find out that my daughter did not need glasses after all. read more

On Tuesday, 7/21/15, I was in your office for an eye exam and it was mid afternoon, very busy, seemed very chaotic and there was only one girl I recognized Sandra helping a young man. Dr came out because the two brunette ladies, one being his, "wife", who is very LOUD and UNPROFESSIONAL and the other new lady that had big glasses and seemed extremely flustered, did not know how to help a lady there for her husband....well the Dr. Was not much better the wife left unhappy after traveling a ways to come there she said. The new lady then asked the always sweet Sandra something and Sandra told her something and this girl SNAPPED at her, unprofessional with a room full of people. I truly felt for Sandra!! Then when Sandra went to the back with someone those two seemed to be then talking about her. What we in the waiting room witnessed that afternoon was so unprofessional, I'm not sure I want to stay and PLEASE do not go down your schedule attempting to call. Dr you have a problem and you need to fix it and tell your wife to be more professional along with her new pal up front. Very sad what we all saw. Sandy is gone, which is a travesty, I sure hope Sandra goes to somewhere deserving too because it seems you like fake people, greet you fake to your face but treat others horribly.
