The rooms and bathroom are upstairs with one room with two twin beds and one room with one twin bed. The beds are very firm and the pillow is flat. I recommend that you bring your own pillow. The shower is an extended shower head that is directly hooked up to the bath faucet, which makes it hard to hold and shower with the water running in you at the same time. They do not offer any converters so you have to bring your own. The check in process was extremely slow, first with one person and then after about 20 mins was two people doing the checking in. They have a safe but you have to sign for key. There is a physical key for the room and they only have two. The elevators are extremely small and fits about three people with three rolling bags, and it is pretty tight then. The customer service is ok.

The staff here is very polite and professional, with extra services available for airport pickups and drop off if requested which can be arranged for you for an added but reasonable fee. When I complained to the manager and the front desk, they refused to take any responsibility. They treated me like I was a complete idiot, and didn't know how to put a do not disturb sign on a door. They had every excuse, like someone walked by my room and turned the notice around. They refused to take any responsibility or offer an apology. I especially enjoyed having a glass of wine at the end of the day on the moonlit terrace (where breakfast is also served in the mornings) and looking out at the gorgeous views. In the bathroom there were very few toiletries provided such as creams, conditioners, shaving cream, etc. More importantly one of our shower heads did not work and the toilet broke 4-5 times while we were there. Each time they came to fix it the toilet would break again after the first flush. The last day we were there the toilet was broken for the entire day, requiring us to use the restroom in the hallway. I will say the staff was very understanding and accommodating but when they tried to contact the management because we were so upset no manager would answer the phone. Because we had to leave for the airport we had no choice but to pay the full amount for the room. While we loved Catania and Sicily this certainly put a damper on our stay.

We had to stay in Catania for one extra night and he ensured we could keep our room for that time. His helpfulness and kindness was not unnoticed. His associate who's name I did not get; but worked the night of July 5, was extremely helpful trying to help me find an open pharmacy to get medications as I had developed an illness and needed help. All the kindness of Hôtel Villa Romeo is never going to be forgotten by me and I will recommend to anyone staying in the area.

Luca was friendly and professional; my only disappointment was that he only suggested one restaurant directly across the street, which frankly wasn't great -- thankfully, I stuck to my own list and we ended up having an excellent dinner elsewhere. On a positive note, Luca did provide a solid recommendation for an airport taxi (Carmelo), which worked out perfectly. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and breakfast was a nice touch -- you place your order and it's delivered to your door in the morning.
