$5. Enough lamb meat for two sandwiches.

Best deal on the west side of Indy. Period. The gyros are $4.99. Better than any $5 Subway footlong you can get. Call to order ahead or walk right in. Doesn't matter. The owners are the sweetest and love their regulars. My brother takes his family often, and every time they go the owners greet them by name and give the kids free candy. How hometown-sweet is that?? You can get any number of veggies on your lamb pita wrap. They also include sauce. If you want to take a vegetarian, you can! They get a discount for having no meat on their wrap. These sandwhiches used to be $2.99 way back in the day when I was 10 years old, but $4.99 is still a bargain. They give you so much lamb meat that you can take off half and have a sandwich for later. Even if you don't need to fill up the gas tank, you can surely fill up your stomach. Stop by the Silver Express gas station next time you're on this side of town.

    HUGE gyro!

Almost everyone is ordering a gyro and they are just piling on the meat for these things.

Found this gas station/restaurant on Yelp to try for lunch while in the area. Full disclosure: I…read moredidn't realize it was a gas station until I arrived! But I was intrigued, so figured I'd check it out. Now I had no idea what Leo's offered until I went in. Think gas station/convenience store offering locally made food items, freshly prepared bowls/drinks and kolaches. Second guilty admission: never had a kolache. The nice woman behind the counter helped me choose (they were buy one, get one free)! So I chose one egg and cheese, and one spinach and cheese. They were warmed in an oven while I went to grab a coffee and use the restroom, which was very clean and well-stocked. Pro tip: if you want a latte or another specialty coffee, order at the counter. If you want to make your own, go to the coffee bar. It's less expensive, plus they have a variety of sweeteners, Torani syrups, and assorted creamers (including plant-based). The cash register employee let me know when they were ready to go, and my grand total was less than $6. I picked up a few hot sauce packets from the condiment bar and sat down in the dining area to eat. The kolache itself is essentially a small, light sandwich. The bread was soft, with a hint of sweetness. The egg and cheese combo was perfect for my light lunch! I had a bite of the spinach and cheese kolache before I left, which was even more flavorful and cheesy! Can't wait to have it tomorrow morning. The cafe also features freshly prepared smoothies, coffee drinks, salad/potato/pasta bowls as well as soups, with a rotating soup of the day. There's truly something for every taste. I was really pleased with this fun gas station mash up, and will absolutely drop in again when in the area!

I've noticed that this gas station generally has the lowest-cost gas in the area. I like coming here because the gas pump's functions work, and I've not had any issues paying at the pump. Also, the receipt prints out, so there is no need to go inside, which fewer gas pumps are doing these days. Getting gas here is seamless and reliable. This location is very convenient and is easily accessible.

So all of the old reviews that mention Marsh don't apply to this newer store, now called Needler's Fresh Market. I don't know -- I think Needler's is pretty good! It has a little bakery on site (Lemon's Bakery Cafe), which has hot food and baked goods, with seating by big windows that overlook Mass Ave. Beyond the cafe, the rest of the joint is a small grocery store. You'll find a modest produce section with fresh-looking greens and fruit and things. They sell house-made hummus and sushi. The wine section is abysmal, but I did find a bottle of one of my cheapie low-key favorite bottles of Malbec here, so I picked that up. The dried ramen section is also better than it needs to be. The prices seem to be about the same as Kroger and other grocery stores. Checkout was quick and there were several registers open. The only thing is that I entered through the cafe and exited by the registers, so I got a little turned around once I exited. Keep in mind that you can only enter/exit through the cafe at certain hours. They lock that door after a particular time. (I think it's 5 or 6 p.m.)
