Came around 1 o'clock today. Was excited to try their food again with a fresh perspective. Probably one of the cleanest restaurant bathrooms ever. Restaurant was clean. Everybody at my table enjoyed their food. It seemed that I was actually served more brisket this time in my brisket plate than my last visit so I was thoroughly pleased! I like lean brisket but I found myself doing a lot of chewing and water sipping to get everything down this time. Just a little dry. Server and kitchen were super accommodating with providing me a side of peppers to eat with my brisket. Our server was fantastic. The inside got really cold due to them turning on the fans and opening up the back door to I guess clear the air out for an incoming party. Made it uncomfortable towards the end. Delivered in about 15 minutes. I chose to sit in the bar area. Sometimes it is harder to get the attention of the bartender and I didn't get my ticket for 30 minutes. I could have chosen to sit in the dining room but the table they offered me was sitting solo in the middle of the dining room. A small 2 top. All the other tables had been pulled together for a large party. I felt like a fish in a fishbowl. I declined . Maybe it was because I was missing my husband, but I felt like this was a meh experience. I might be back. Silver Star is considered pretty decent for Shreveport-Bossier City standards as a "smokehouse" focusing on BBQ and meats. Plenty of parking up front and the exterior and interior are both very spacious The service is a bit hit and miss, mostly very young women / girls being the waitstaff. Our orders weren't really accurately placed but that's that. Their wedge was quite alright, the lettuce quality wasn't the best though. The chopped beef sandwich came on premade bread buns (like from Krogers) and the Cole slaw was definitely premade from a tub. The fries were crispy and nice but likely also were previously frozen. We decided to give it another try and this is what we experienced. Barbeque chicken and ribs were ordered with augraten potatoes, barbeque beans and cole slaw. The ribs we ordered were really dry and tough. It was like chewing leather. Great ribs should melt in your mouth. The chicken just didn't have much flavor. It was really bland. It reminded me of the food I ate in New England. The beans reminded me of ranch style beans. Wow. I could have gotten almost the same thing out of a can. The augraten potatoes and cole slaw were really good and I would recommend ordering them. The barbeque sause was really good as well. I left the waitress a good tip. Let me start by saying the service is fantastic, and this place seems to stay busy. Good folks serve up good food. The food is good but not exceptional. The vittles here won't knock your socks off, but you won't leave hungry--healthy southern portions. The decor is very cozy, like a warm, inviting country cabin. We visit often when traveling. It's great for large parties. If you're away from home and want to have a meal with people who will treat you special, this is the place to go! Several other eateries are next door. We waited several minutes before anyone came to seat us, which is a pet peeve of mine. Tonight we went for dinner out and wanted BBQ. Decided to drive to Bossier to SilverStar. It has traditionally been hit or miss, but tonight was definitely a miss! Waitress was was Mariah. The waitress obviously never waited on a large party so taking orders and getting drinks was a bit chaotic. As for the food apparently well done is the only way you can get your food because my burger was dry and boot rubber even though I asked for it to be medium well not well done. The steaks at the table were all over cooked as well, for the price this is unacceptable. At the end another waitress came around asking everyone what they ordered because apparently our original waitress didn't splint any of the tickets after specifically asking if we wanted it separated. We met up with a friend who came from out of town for a visit and decided to take him here for dinner. As always, Silver Star Smokehouse never disappoints! Drinks were great and the food was fantastic as usual. They have such a great variety to choose from. I particularly enjoy getting their combo meat plates so that I can try a variety of different smoked meats. Their sides are a very good too! Their potato salad and BBQ baked beans are some of the best around. They even had a great selection of dessert items! We left full and happy with leftovers in tow. We came here for a family birthday party and was told it's loud busy and the potato's au gratin were the best thing on the menu. I decided to get a 3 meat plate to try some fifteenth things. Ribs, no smoke no flavor no seasoning they were tinder. Brisket same thing. The sausage was good but it was just a run of the meal sausage. In Bossier City for work, one coworker raved about Silver Star, so a group of us came for dinner one evening. Not a single complaint from anyone's meals, which is quite a feat with a group of 8. The place was large enough to have social distancing between us and another large group, and even from other smaller groups. Everything was clean and the whole evening went smoothly. We are visiting family in the area, and had tried Silver Star 3 years ago for lunch when we were in town and enjoyed the food. So when we decided to go to dinner we thought it would be a good choice as some of our group had never been. Tonight we had a party of 11, 6 adults, 1 teenager and 4 kids. our waitress greeted us and took our drink order as we waited for our group to arrive. When the rest of the party was seated she took orders for drinks and kids meals and we ordered the appetizer platter. Those came about 20-30 min later. And the waitress disappeared for a while, long enough we started looking for her in order to place our main course order. Four people ordered pulled pork. Two had the rib platters and one had chicken fingers and fries. Not sure if it was the waitress, kitchen or bar tenders or all of the above who had issues; as She did have other parties, but we feel the wait time in between ordering and our food arriving was excessive! The appetizer was nothing special and certainly not worth 28.99. The kids meals were good size portions and the food was decent although some was cold. All of us who ordered the pulled pork sent them back, but one who ate half and then left the rest. It was extremely dry and had a weird metallic taste I can only describe as a chemical or lighter fluid residue.. I tried the meat with no sauce and spit it out after a few chews. Others tried to cover it with BBQ sauce but it didn't help. The ribs were fine but again dry and needed a lot of sauce. Everyone said their sides were good. While our server was nice and obliged all our requests we did not tip above the 20% added to the bill because we felt the service was very slow. The restaurant is decorated nice and appears clean, I didn't use the RR so I can't comment on that. They had a decent crowd so it may be we chose the wrong item, but This place was a big let down for the price it's not worth it!! I walked in and it was a nice looking place, was quickly seated, and Mary the waitress was soon there to take our drink and appetizer orders. I had the burger plate and my friend had the half chicken plate, the food was good, the waitress kept our drinks full, and we had a good time. The manager clearly keeps things moving well and the people working seemed to be happy to serve. It was all around an excellent experience, good food, good atmosphere, and good service. Get your glasses out of the freezer. That is only to make piss water taste better. For actual beer, made with out corn or rice or any other shit that does not belong in beer, the drinking temperature should be ~40-55 degrees; generally speaking. Another beer issue is get the right glass for the right beer. I had the same beer two nights in a row and both nights it was super heady. That's not because of that young ladies inability to pour a beer but because she was I'll equipped. The glass was the wrong glass and way too cold for that beer. I give 3 stars because the brisket was the best I have ever had in my entire life. Falling apart, tender and not drowned in sauce so you can truly appreciate the flavor of the meat. The baked potato was incredible. I could have just had a potato and been happy and our server was quite attentive as busy as she was, my glass was never empty for long. I cannot give 5 stars however because they need to learn how to run a restaurant that has a concert venue attached. When you are having a concert you should not be having huge parties taking up whole entire rooms or taking reservations.
