My husband and I stopped by Silverado Canyon Market with our newborn and instantly fell in love with this absolute gem of a place. From the moment we walked in, it felt warm, welcoming, and full of charm. We had the pleasure of meeting Deanna, who--along with her husband--owns the market, and you can truly feel the heart they've poured into it. I had the best chai latte here, along with a fantastic pastrami sandwich and The Goombah--every bite was incredible. You can immediately tell the food is high-quality and absolutely made with love. As new parents out and about with a baby, the kindness and genuine hospitality made the experience even more special. This is truly a hidden gem. I've been here twice. I absolutely think the place is a hidden gem and would love to stop by more often however both times Ive stopped in I haven't felt extremely welcomed, let me explain. Once I dropped in with my nephews (3 and 7 at the time) for lunch and enjoyed it however we had an odd experience where one of them wanted a sandwich dry (meaning no condiments) and we were told by the waitress that no alterations were allowed on the menu. That was a year or so ago. Moving on I thought it was strange but didnt think too much of it other than them not liking kids. Yesterday I stopped in solo after a 30 mile canyon ride and asked for a IVL (Latte) to go (in there small defense they did ask if I wanted for there or to go). They made it quickly which was great. It was maybe 9am and there were maybe 3 tables seated in their side outdoor space with maybe 6 cars in the lot, it was not packed at all. I went to walk thru the door to the side outdoor seating just to look around and maybe sit for 5 minutes and was told I wasnt allowed back there as they're 'full service'. My assumption was that meant they wanted to keep the tables open for people who eat there which is fine. So I said no worries and explained I just wanted to look around instead of sit and then was told yet again I couldn't even go through the door nor sit indoors. I was told my only option was to take my coffee out front. It really felt as if I wasnt welcome there at all. It was a very odd experince to be honest. I've worked in customer service for over 20 years myself and all that they had to say to me was 'you can look around and sit for 5 minutes or until we start to get busy'. Instead whoever trains the staff here seems to train that of it's to go then people arent welcome to stay even for 5 minutes. As for the drink itself. Instead of making a latte with an expresso shot it was simply milk with brewed coffee sat atop (very bitter at that). Which was really odd as I could see they had a full expresso machine setup. Not sure if it was intentionally made bad but once again it felt as if I wasnt welcome there. *Updating below in response to the owner/managers response* 1. Regarding the latte with brewed pour over on top I didn't get that information from anyone. That WAS the drink I was served. Ive had maybe 5000 lattes in my life time from about 500 different cafes. Maybe someone pulled a really bad (over extracted shot) but it was 100% like a pour over on top of milk. 2. I never tried to use the emergency side exit/gate. I tried to use the adjoining door way. 3. I completely get the outside is reserved seating only now. That could have been explained friendlier on the spot. The approach of the situation could have been a sure you can take a look but cant sit. Simple. 4. When I went with my nephews it wasnt a question of not having a kids menu it was not allowing the slightest of alterations (no condiments) for kids who are typically picky at a certain age. 5. Ill agree maybe its just not a good alignment. read more

We came here on Valentine's Day for brunch and it wasn't all the way packed. There were still a few tables left, we got seated outside and it took a while for them to take our order. When we did, they didn't allow any modifications (which I kind of get, it even said it on their menu) but if I am paying $20 for a sandwich I would hope I can modify it. So this was the upsetting part. After they took our order, it took tab out another 30-40 minutes for the food to come out. They did check up on us, but what can I say? So it's a bit confusing as to why making a few sandwiches takes over 30+ minutes. The bread was good, but not worth $20. My tuna sandwich had very minimal tomato + lettuce. The pastrami sandwich is good, meat was flavorful, bread was toasty. Just sucked that the food took long and it is overpriced for some sandwiches. Edited: While we were there, another customer asked if he could sub something, so it wasn't just myself that felt some way about not being able to sub something. I did enjoy the scenery, I thought it was a nice little getaway away from Irvine. However, I think anywhere where you have to wait 30+ minutes for food especially for a sandwich, it is upsetting. Whether it's a small business or an established one. These are just my honest opinions unfortunately. read more

Stumbled across this place after hiking black star, and it was exactly what we needed! This is a true hidden gem. The food, outdoor seating, and variety of drinks is perfect. Even though we're still in OC, it felt like I was whisked away to a local country cafe with sweet southern hospitality. The sandwiches were loaded and so good, and the beer was crisp. The first time I stopped by Silverado Canyon Market, it was just for coffee (actually, it was for the classic "Silverado" red/silver bumper sticker, but these haven't been made in years, I guess). Tucked away in a quiet, rustic part of the canyon, it felt like the perfect hidden gem to grab a warm cup and enjoy the scenery. On my NEXT visit, I came hungry. I ordered their Chilaquiles for a sit-down breakfast--green and red roasted salsas smothering crispy corn tortilla chips, topped with two organic free-range eggs, avocado, onion, cilantro, crema, and cotija cheese. I added smoked bacon, which, unfortunately, didn't make it to the plate but still showed up on the bill. So ... thanks for that, Silverado Canyon Market. Even without the bacon, though, the dish was magnificent. I was the first customer of the day, sat outside, and had a peaceful al fresco dining experience. A week later, after a hike, I returned and tried the "Not Yo Mommie's Pastrami"--hot, thin-sliced premium pastrami with Swiss cheese, stone ground mustard, and sliced dill pickles on a French roll. Hands down, one of the best pastrami sandwiches I've ever had! The meat was lean, smoky, full of flavor, and the condiments were perfect. I grabbed a seat way in the back near the fence overlooking the creek--an unbeatable setting for someone who loves the outdoors. I could say I'll be back, but the truth is I've already made this place a regular stop. Everything I've tried so far has been fantastic! Pro tips: - DO try the Potato Mac Salad. It's a comforting, tasty side! - DO BRING CASH (they charge a fee for credit/debit cards); - DO Double-check prices in the market (a bottle of Coke cost me nearly $4!); - DON'T expect cell service--it's spotty until you're a mile or so further out of the canyon past St. Michael's Abbey. The cafe was closed for the season. We didn't know and came up on a rainy Sunday for a cup of coffee. The owner happened to be there and informed us the place was closed... then proceeded to turn on the espresso machine and make us our coffee! Excellent people and an amazing experience! I just moved back home to OC and had been meaning to try this little market as I'm so excited to be living near the trailhead of my favorite saddleback hike. I saw this market on Instagram and couldn't wait to try as Silverado really needed something like this.! I remember a few years ago before I moved to LA, I would drive through the canyon and would be dying to just go somewhere for a little coffee, but there really wasn't the perfect place for that yet back then until I tried this spot. I love that my latte was not only so flavorful but also the espresso was poured really strong, but it was served with an animal cracker which is just so cute. The perfect latte! Not to mention the gorgeous backdrop of all of our precious canyon! My compliment is for the girl who brought out our food. She was so kind. She's a brunette girl and she complimented my hat and then she also took a moment turned back and said "this is your day" and it just touched my heart in a way that I was not expecting that day and it meant the world to me. I believe this was last week on a Sunday morning. Anyways, I can't wait to be a regular and thank you so much for being so intentional and I'm so glad you guys are here and I really enjoy the coffee. Got served a mimosa in a dirty cup. Lipstick and residue from the previous user. The person making it and the server didn't notice a dirty ass cup that was obviously not washed? Unacceptable. Had a tuna sandwich, it was basic. In response to Deanna, I did say something. I asked for another cup. Obviously was not gonna drink out of a dirty cup. Nothing weird about this claim. I gain nothing for posting this review. Just thought I'd let fellow yelpers know. This is what yelp is for right? The fact that you think it's weird or a scam is crazy. Your previous non-five star reviews, which you respond to with attacking the yelper also says you lack accountability for your business. But whatever. We came in for lunch today after spending the morning at the Library of the Canyons with our 2 little ones and this place exceeded our expectations!! My husband and I got the gabagool and pastrami sandwiches and they were HUGE! We could have easily shared one, but they were both so delicious! The gabagool reminded me of Bay Cities in Santa Monica (but thankfully without the hassle of driving to LA!) Also the peach black tea was really good! The kids loved the croissant, too! We had an absolutely lovely breakfast here today! This is a husband and wife owned spot in Silverado Canyon which opened in September. They were so friendly and the ambiance was wonderful. We sat on the patio which is very large with lots of tables overlooking the creek. The Silverado Sunrise breakfast was so good, with very yummy (not dried out) turkey patties, and my mom got hers with bacon which was thick cut and tasty. Their house-made country bread is light and airy, and so delicious, and you get a nice little fruit cup with your breakfast. My brother enjoyed his French toast, and the oat milk mocha I had was excellent- about 10x better than any other coffee I've had in the RSM area. They also serve lunch and cocktails and pizza is coming soon they said. Definitely go check them out for a wonderful meal!! read more
