I initially had a very positive experience with this dental office, and both my husband and I…read morebecame patients. Early on, my husband was advised to get a deep cleaning that cost around $600 out of pocket even with insurance. After that, he was placed on a 3-month deep cleaning schedule at $400 per visit, which we trusted at the time. Because of that trust, I even upgraded our insurance to a top-tier plan. During my own visits, I was consistently told my teeth were in excellent condition--multiple staff members commented on how clean and healthy they looked, even though I had gone two years without dental care prior. However, my experience took a concerning turn. At one visit, I had minor gum irritation from eating hard food the night before. Suddenly, I was told I had gum disease and would need a deep cleaning at my next appointment. The cleaning that day felt rushed and incomplete, which I found unusual. At my following visit, I had scheduled a regular cleaning instead of a deep cleaning. The dentist reacted with visible frustration and pressured me to proceed with the more expensive treatment. I was told that if I did not get a deep cleaning, it could jeopardize their professional licenses. As someone in the medical field holding multiple licenses, I found this statement extremely inappropriate and misleading. Patients have the right to decline treatment, and using fear as a tactic is unacceptable. I ultimately agreed to a regular cleaning but was required to sign a liability waiver. The hygienist appeared visibly nervous throughout the procedure, although she did perform a thorough cleaning. What is most concerning is that after all of this, I left the appointment without even being clearly informed whether or not I had a cavity--something that should be a basic part of any dental visit. The focus seemed to be entirely on pushing an expensive procedure rather than providing complete, patient-centered care. Dr. Patel was to focus on pressuring me about a deep cleaning, then evaluating me for cavities. Also, be aware that while they advertise a $59 cleaning, X-ray, and exam, my experience suggests that this is often used as a way to upsell more expensive procedures--even if you have top-tier insurance. This experience raised serious concerns for me about consistency in diagnosis, pressure for costly treatments, and the use of fear-based communication. I can no longer confidently trust the recommendations from this office. I would strongly encourage others to seek a second opinion before agreeing to major or repeated procedures here.

They had all…read moresorts of X-rays, took some saliva test, took so many nonsense test that made ZERO sense to me. It felt they were doing everything in their power to bill me for whatever was left in my dental insurance since the year was coming to an end. After so many hours of time wasting, a blonde looking Dr came in, said I was losing bone teeth, that I was beginning to have large spaces on my teeth. She said even though I didn't have any cavities I still needed a laser deep cleaning, she said I'll need mouth guard too, I said I wear retainer to sleep every night religiously, she later sent a young black man to me that he is in charge of knowing what insurance would cover. The guy presented many bills, he said for all the X-rays done, he showed me that they charged my insurance about $1,500, and that my out of pocket was zero. He said for the complete laser deep cleaning, the total would be around $4,500, and my out of pocket would be around $1,500, I told him, I don't have all these, I ONLY wanted the regular basic cleaning. He left shortly after seeing, I wasn't ready to pay for these nonsense they were trying to sell me, and later on the blonde so called 'Dr' came back, telling me I'll needed 4 quadrant, and it cost $80 per quadrant, meaning, my out of pocket after charging the insurance another almost $1,500 would be $320. I felt like I was in a time share sales meeting. It was horrible and so unethical. In the end they didn't clean my teeth, and I was let go after fraudulently charging my insurance for nonsense test. Please RUN away from them. I hardly write reviews, but this is too important to just let go.

But this is my 2nd time getting my teeth cleaned and the hygienist is not good. She barely polishes the teeth. She doesn't do a thorough job scraping plaque. My husband has had the same experience with her as well. She needs to be properly trained.

My wife went in for a cleaning and they recommended root canal while our prior dentist just recommended a filling was all necessary. I went in few weeks later and they couldn't find anything wrong with my teeth, so they recommend deep cleanings, not just one session but two sessions. Which out of pocket will cost close to $300 dollars for something normally my insurance will cover for the standard cleaning. To add insult to injury to patients time, I have to come back for the deep cleaning, they don't have time. Anyhow, I scheduled a followed up with my regular dentist and they did a traditional cleaning without any additional cost and confirm Comfort Dental recommendations were just not needed. Long story short, they lost potential future businesses from our family due to greed...

Dr. Jordan does not rush the appointment time, is detailed in explanations, and asks if you have any questions. I haven't met very many physicians who are as personable as Dr. Jordan. He even personally calls to check on you. He cares, and it is evident. I had oral surgery under anesthesia this morning, and I'm writing this review eight hours later. Excellent surgeon. He came highly recommended by another physician for his technique, and his care has exceeded my expectations. I have zero pain since he sent me home with specific pain instructions, no swelling, and I did not expect to start recovering so quickly. I have to note I follow instructions to the last detail (eat what and when they told me, take my medicine, no using straws etc). Dr. Jordan was also very nice to my mother who drove me to the procedure. His office faces a hospital, his office staff are very friendly and keep contact with you about payment before the procedure so nothing is a surprise, and he has an anesthesiologist with him. If you're looking for an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who is safe, has welcoming and expert staff, and cares about your outcome then I highly recommend you consider Dr. Jordan. Mitzy K.

I want to take time to write a review for Telfair Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. I was very…read morepleased with their service. I've been to their office 6 or 7 times between August 2022 and July 2023. When you have to get an extraction and implant like I did, it requires several visits, plus a lot of time in between for the gums and bones to heal in between before they can proceed with the next phase. It all started when I accidentally cracked the bottom part of my tooth down to the root in 2022 when I bit into a piece of bone (warning to you spare ribs lovers out there) while I was on vacation. It was excruciating pain to say the least and I couldn't wait to get back to Houston to see my dentist. My dentist told me it appears that my tooth is cracked and referred me to a root canal specialist to see if performing a root canal can save my tooth. The root canal specialist took x-rays and 3D photos and said it wasn't salvageable and I had to get the tooth extracted. Strangely, the dental office that I used to go to, couldn't or didn't want to perform the extraction so they referred me to a couple of oral surgeons. I called their offices to schedule an appointment but one doctor was out of town and wouldn't be back for another couple months. I did not want to wait that long as I was still in pain. I called the other referral and nobody answered the phone. I decided to look for an oral surgeon myself and stumbled upon Telfair Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. They decided to see me even though I did not have a referral. Some places won't even see you if you do not have a referral. Dr. Kyoko Yamaji and her staff took care of me. Dr. Yamaji performed the extraction and bone graft. She gave me the option of staying awake for the surgery or be put to sleep. I chose to be awake. After local anesthesia, the procedure was painless and I experienced minimal discomfort after surgery when the anesthesia wore off. I was prescribed ibuprofen for the pain and an oral antibiotic. I went back to see Dr. Yamaji a couple more times for follow-up checkups to make sure everything is healing properly. In 2023 I went back to get the implant, which again I chose to stay awake for the procedure. The procedure was painless after local anesthesia and I was once again given ibuprofen and antibiotic for post surgery. After another 2 months I went back to see Dr. Yamaji one more time to follow up. She took an x-ray and examined the implant and gave me the thumbs up to proceed with getting a fitted crown over the implant from my dentist. Throughout this long process, the office staff members were professional and courteous. I'd like to give props to Christina who is always friendly and upbeat. I've never seen her without a smile on her face. If I have a medical clinic, I would hire someone like Christina because she makes the patients feel welcome and appreciated. Dr. Yamaji has been nothing short of professional and friendly as well. Honestly, this place far exceeded my expectation. If you're looking for an oral surgeon, you can trust Telfair Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. They accept most major insurance plans so make sure to ask first.

Look for another place and if you decide to go here, please make sure not to let your family members go in without supervision, that way you can be there for them and stop "this professionals" from hurting your loved ones.

The insurance was verified before arrival and I was told it would only be a $50 copay for each child. The co-pay would not be subtracted from the cost of the procedure. I verified the insurance again the day of the consultation before arrival and upon paying the co-pay. The oral surgeon was in the room for 5 min to review the x-rays, which were taken again in the office for some unknown reason. She went over the same risk and benefits of wisdom teeth removal as she does with every patient and left. The procedure themselves would cost over $3000 each. I went with another oral surgeon referred to me by the orth9odontist, which was 1/3 of the cost and there was no consultation needed! A month after the consultation with fort bend oral surgeons, I get text messages that I owe $300 each for the consultation and that they did not have insurance coverage at the time of the consultation. I said they have dental insurance and it has been verified. I provided them with the insurance information again. 2 months later, I again get text message that I need to make additional payments. I respond and the reply is to not reply to the text and to call. I called multiple times and left messages for an explanation without a response. Instead I kept getting mailed bills from the office. No courtesy to call and speak to me directly to explain the reasoning. This lasted for 6months! I got in touch with a manager who stated they billed the insurance for both kids the day of the consultation and did not get a response. I doubt that the insurance company missed the charge for BOTH kids on the same day! She could not provide a EOB to confirm it has been billed on time. They billed a month after the procedure was done at the other dental office, which was the reason for the denial. I verified with the insurance and they did not receive any charges on the day of the consultation for both kids, but got it a month later. The manager would not accept that and instead decided to judge my decision on taking my kids to another oral surgeon that did not require a consultation. She tried to explain the risks of sedation and hoe a surgeon could do a procedure without consultation. I am a physician and understand the risks! She is a manager and has no right or medical expertise to judge my decisions! The office made multiple mistakes and the bill should have been dismissed since it was the office staff's mistake- they provided the coverage information and then claimed they were not under the insurance, did not bill the insurance for BOTH kids on day of service, HORRIBLE communication, doctor who refused to call me as a courtesy (when I am a physician myself), Judging my decision to go to another practice and HARRASSMENT with multiple mailed bills without the courtesy to call or return calls! I do not think waiving a charge of $122 would be much of a loss for the office. Many oral surgeons and orthodontists provide free consultations or apply the fee to the procedure cost! The consultation was unnecessary. PLEASE SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE! I have also told the dentist and orthodontist not to refer patients to this group.
