This review is for the Crematorium part of Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River, NJ…read more My partner made all of her arrangements prior to her passing. I paid an extra $100.00 to view the cremation. Upon doing this on the vessel to send my beloved partner to "the other side" there was a piece of paper stating her name, when she passed and her gender which was filled in as "MALE" .... I was shocked and saddened by such a mistake ... I pointed it out the the person from the funeral home and also to the guy running the cremation .... He proceeded to say "this is the second time this happened ... Totally unacceptable and he should never had said that to a grieving family member!! He proceeded to take the paperwork from the machine and ink in the Fe before the male .... Really!!! The person representing the funeral home went up to get the paperwork changed then came back and I asked her if the paperwork was changed to FEMALE. She said yes and blamed it on technology! No it's not technology it's the person entering the information!! It should be checked before it leaves the area and continuously before it goes on the "vessel " by everyone involved!! I also spoke with the manager John and he proceeded to tell me that the person who entered the information was spoken to .... Really .... Once again .... UNACCEPTABLE!! I was saddened the way this whole thing was handled . What would've happened if the name was wrong ..... So I paid the extra $100.00 to catch their mistake!! Extremely disappointed and heartbroken!!!

The process was professional and went smoothly. When the time came for Complete Care at Holiday City to notify Horizon of the passings, they responded immediately (in the middle of the night) to contact me and to take each parent into their care. We set up an appointment to discuss the service within the next day and they took care of all the arrangements with the cemetery. I can not express just how much we appreciated the efficiency, professionalism and the kindness of the employees at Horizon. A special thank you goes to both Lisa and Eva who took care of my parents and our family.

The Toms River area is filled with funeral homes and I decided to go with Horizon . Fred was patient and helpful , in helping us plan cremation and a memorial service for my mother . He showed us all options, in various price ranges, and explained everything clearly. Anytime I called him, he quickly called back and answered whatever questions I had. Sharon was also very helpful, especially with assisting me with various paperwork. We had a memorial for my mother in the Beach Room. There was lots of seating and the general ambiance of Horizon helped us appropriately say goodbye to my mother. No one wants to have to plan these types of things, but Horizon made things as streamlined as possible for us .

Let me start off by saying that the funeral home suggested them and when you are grieving the…read moresudden loss of your father you just go with it . Worst experience ever - customer service is definitely not their forte. Once the inscription was done (which BTW we had no clue I had to call and they said it was done) when we looked at it we noticed immediately the much larger gap in the word BELOVED. We took measurements and sent them to them (not the picture below - we figured they needed a more descriptive photo as they were not believing us). First email - they said they went out and it was OK. I did not agree and sent another email and they said they would send the sandblaster to check it out - who guess what said there was nothing wrong. Third email - with our attorney CC:D they finally reacted and said they were going to fix it - shocker once you put your attorney on there. So they fixed it and when moving the D to the appropriate spacing and it is not crisp at all - when you look at my fathers side compared to my mothers. I just sent them an emailing saying that I would not be paying the balance of $650.00 - they have stated that I didn't get charged for the sandblasting - ARE YOU KIDDING ME they messed it up from the beginning! I also received a call from Andy saying the same thing but that if I don't pay they will send us to collections. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE COMPANY WITH ABSOLUTLY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Being this has been since January 2025, they basically said we were wrong twice until we emailed with our attorney and then fixed it TERRIBLY. You may not be able to fully see the issues with headstone but this is our parents headstone that is forever. Send me to collections because now you are being sued for a new headstone - that will be done from a competent company.

They required upfront payment - okay. check cleared so fast, i was surprised. hopefully the inscription would be done as quickly. not done until we complained when we found out it wasn't done by early december. when we called, we heard all the traditioanl excuses about weather, work load etc. uras promised to call when it was done (danielle). we visited grave this week (january 2019) to find the work done. three months to get one simple inscription and no feedback as promised. asked funeral home about uras. uras is not held in high regard.
