This store has been a Bastrop staple for a very long time...at least 20 years. Everything you need for sporting, hunting....no matter what you want to hunt! This local sporting good store was clean, neat and easy to get around. My son needed more boots, my nephew wanted to wade so needed more boots and my brother needed a variety of knives for hunting. There wasn't ANYTHING in this store that you could need and want that wasn't there. It's a bit pricey but that could be said about all hunting items... I have no complaints or compliments about the customer service, I think the employees were a little shocked to see a whole crew of black people willing to spend money...idk... I say that because they didn't NOT help us...but they didn't CATER to us in the way that i was expecting. Again no complains....Simmons even had some things for my grandchildren...got my dad a hat...I mean...I just had a ball in this store. read more

Simmons really has to be seen to be believed! I have never been in a store with this much quality hunting and fishing merchandise. It blows Cabela's and Bass Pro away! Simmons was truly impressive and I'd love to go back soon. There is a great children's section with outdoorsy clothes and toys and a small women's department but this is predominantly a man's paradise. Definitely recommend a visit! read more

I am an OTR truck driver and I planned my trip to stay in their big, big parking lot overnight. I arrived at 12:30am pitch dark and storming and can't legally move until 10:30am. This morning at 8am I get some guy pounding on my truck telling me I can't park there and calling me bubba... he asked me,"Didn't you see the signs you're not allowed to park here?" I proceeded to tell him not it was dark and storming and I'll be out of here in 2 hours if that's ok. He had to play telephone with the liberal owner and proceeded to tell me they will call the sheriff if I didn't leave. Even though there is so much dang room in that huge parking lot and I'm out of everyone's way they had to disturb me in the middle of my sleep because they want power....... I even offered to pay for my stay but it was still calling the sheriff, then i proceeded to cross the road and goto EZ mart and the owner with a very small parking lot said yes please do park here! Thanks Simmons for the warm southern hospitality.... oh and by the way Mr owner, I drive through here so often that I've stopped and spent well over $500 with you and now I won't spend another penny with you! I dont write reviews often unless I have an overwhelming positive or negative experience. In this case, it has been countless positive occasions. On reddit, there is a user by the name of u/Hunter_SimmonsSG that advertises for Simmons Sporting Goods. I live in the midwest, and like many online shoppers I tend to go where the best deals are. That is what I did the first time I shopped with Simmons, when I purchased a holosun optic for my glock. Second time I needed an optic, I shot Hunter a message after comparing some prices... again, they were the best price by a mile and a half. Third, fourth and now fifth time buying a relatively high priced item has been with Simmons. It has now gotten to the point where I won't look for those items anywhere else, its an immediate message to Hunter_SimmonsSG. The last two times I did price comparison post purchase and they were still the best. But, that isnt what makes Simmons the premier outdoor outfitter, its their customer service. I messaged him late at night this last time after I got in town from a work trip and come whenever opening time was on the east coast the following day I received a message back, within an hour my package was packed up and on its way to me with a nice note, a sticker and a koozie. I love it here!!! As a young kid it was always my favorite place to go just because I could walk up the stairs and see all of the mounts that they had in the walls. This store is pretty damn large and wall to wall packed with everything you need or think you need in order to hunt wild game or waterfowl.... Clothing, hats, camo, archery, ammo, rifles, shotguns, pistols, revolvers, footwear, Bad Boy side by side ATVs.... Gun prices seemed/appeared reasonable & in line with other places I've seen across the state of LA and Baby they ain't running NO shortage on weapon inventory...Ammo seems a tad pricey compared to other places I've checked but again these boys is well stocked on ammo of all calibers!! I ordered an item the 12/5, I called to check up on the status 12/15 and found out it had been lost by FedEx. The rep I spoke to said they had 1 itme left in a different color, confirmed it was still available, called me back and got it out that day so I could have it for Christmas. It arrived 12/17!! Bought a Smith & Wesson M&P 9 shield M2.0 from them and it has absolutely no tactile reset or sound to the trigger reset. Trigger also feels rough and gritty does not operate smoothly. One of the selling points for the M2.0 is supposed to be how great the reset feel and sound is. They will do nothing for me. They said they won't give me full price if I return it because it's used. They won't give me a discount or store credit or ten bucks off on something or anything. Sold me a defective fire arm and their answer is send it to S&W. Zero customer service. Might as well have bought it out of a guy's trunk in a back alley! read more
