The atmosphere/ambiance is updated and has beautiful views. Id like to return in the summer as im sure the patio is nice for drinks possibly. We started with bone marrow which my husband stated was very bland (3), and also the Roasted Bacon which was a 4 (best item). Our steaks were not cooked to our liking with a nice crust, some salt, garlic flavor. We luckily bought the salt pact so we had some flavor. Seemed to be oven cooked or broiled and sadly that does not make for a 5 star ribeye so would give them a 3 for appearance, flavor, enjoyment . Our sides were Brussel sprouts, and green beans - which were a 2.5. Just had no flavor at all. I ordered seared scallops with my bone in ribeye which were great - because they had some seasonings/seared. Since it was our anniversary we ordered cappuccinos and dessert which our waitress forgot about but we asked for them which were good not great. Sadly I really hate to sound like I did not enjoy my night , I did but besides the view I could not say I would recommend this steakhouse to others. We enjoy our steaks - even dry age our own so know a bit of farm fresh dry aged prime and this felt like a choice broiled kind of night. As Landry members even we didn't even get our nights tab added to our points because our waitress was just super busy and did not come back around. I also thought she was a bit snarky when I asked about a few things since I am Gluten free - not by choice (Celiac) and they do not really accommodate with GF options at all. Reminded me of our first time out when I was diagnosed 5 years ago at Roadhouse and they offered no sauces, not even butter, garlic or salt & pepper. Wish restaurants would learn how to accommodate to your GF clientele a bit more as we LOVE the smell of your oven bread and makes us wish we could. Along with real butter, garlic, rosemary sear on a steak goes a long way. Perhaps we'd try again one day but not sure. read more

This has been an institution for many years. Location and view are wonderful. Staff is nice. I'm not sure about the award winning menu...this is a review of the Mothers Day Brunch. We were seated downstairs, inside but on on outdoor furniture - very uncomfortable chairs. After climbing stairs and moving through a crowded dining area, the first food you are presented with in the buffet is a table of marshmallows, rice crispy treats, sad strawberries and chocolate sauce... Another table is filled with staples from a family picnic - macaroni salad, deviled eggs, cheap bread rolls...I was amazed. $60 per head? Someone is laughing all the way to bank. The "mains" included tri-tip which was so tough it was barely edible ( and could never cut through it with the provided butter knives), barbecue chicken pieces, bacon, maple sausage, au gratin potatoes, overcooked scrambled eggs, sorry looking crab legs, flavorless eggs Benedict that sat too long... Brunch buffets are hard to do well. This was subpar to poor. Basics like coffee service was super slow, and the dessert bar was...sad. The setting was formal, the service was above average, and there was a wide range of acceptable attire, from business casual to elegant. It is highly recommended to try the Sunday breakfast buffet because there are so many options. Prime rib, crab legs, and a wide variety of sweet decadents are just a few examples of dishes that are served with unlimited mimosas or your preferred coffee. Breakfast consisted of waffles, eggs, and cinnamon rolls. Everything was delicious and fresh, and the rolls provided the ideal beginning. I have eaten here twice and I will NEVER eat here again. (1) Last night my friends hosted myself and my daughter. I ordered prime rib, rather than my usual NY strip. When the meals were delivered, I realized they hadn't provided a knife. Easily corrected - except it took at least 4 minutes to find someone to get me one. What they provided more resembled a very dull hacksaw blade with a handle. Everybody watched in horror as I literally SHREDDED my way through a rare piece of meat. If we could have found a waiter, I would have had them take the plate back and get me a different entrée! I sawed and sawed and tore off piece after piece! It was ABSOLUTELY EMBARRASSING to treat a piece of meat that way. WTF? What made it worse was that the prime rib was very dry, not juicy. (2) Two years ago, I took my daughter there for her birthday. When I made the reservation, I ordered a birthday cake and EXPLICITLY confirmed the request. After our meal they were quick to ask if we wanted dessert. I explained that I had ordered a birthday cake. The waiter went to check and when he returned he informed me that there was no mention of a cake on the reservation. I used to eat there when it was Simms Landing. Great food, greater service. After Landry's bought it the prices went up and the service went down. Twice in two years and both disappointing. We went into Outback to celebrate our son's graduation from Mines. The food was awesome and the drinks were great and filled with enthusiasm! We even purchased gift cards to return. I went here tonight for a work celebration. I arrived a little early so I could talk to the server about vegan options. While they didn't have any on the menu they were kind enough to make my husband and I a pasta dish with veggies sautéed in olive oil. They even checked the noodle ingredients list for me to make sure they were vegan. We also ordered a salad to share and asked for them to not add bacon and to leave the feta cheese on the side, since I am vegan, but my husband is not. A few bites into my salad I realized there was bacon in it. I was pretty disgusted by this, but they kindly made me another salad without bacon and double checked that my pasta dish was vegan before they brought it out. I really appreciate all of the effort that was made to accommodate my needs and that the server was so kind about all of the questions I had. I'll give this restaurant 4 stars for all the efforts they made. It would be really nice however if they could have a vegan option on the menu so future vegan diners and those with food allergies wouldn't have to feel awkward asking so many questions. Tried this while we were in town. The views are really nice. We had 2 servers team the tables in our area. We had our order figured out until the server said they had a surf and turf special that included asparagus and mashed potatoes. The steak and lobster were delicious. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were rather bland. I got the steak tar tare appetizer which was good but the steak had a horseradish mixture in it that over powered the taste. My husband loves steak, & he's not particularly fussy, for his birthday week he wanted to have dinner at Simms. He had been there before by himself & liked it. Now I know his standards for food are a bit different than mine but since it was a 'birthday' request we came here for dinner. My hubby and I were looking for some prime rib. It was a Friday night, and we decided to come to Sims. What a neat place. Very much country inside with several seating areas. We chose to sit in the bar where we discovered there was a stage. A band was setting up. Live music is great. Definitely going to come back for that! We started off with the potato skins. They were OK, but kind of hard. Salads came next, and they were generous, fresh, and good. We both ordered prime rib. We got the smaller cut, which was $25 for the meal. We both ordered Medium rare. One was kind of medium and the other one was MR. Served with Ajou and horseradish, which is a bonus. I ordered broccoli with mine and hubby ordered green beans. The veggies were good although they were not seasoned at all. I thought the prime rib was good and had great flavor. There was a lot of fat, but for the price, I think good value and worth it. they have several sizes you can get including a huge one. I would definitely come back here for the prime rib again, a little later, so we could enjoy the band. Very lively place with pretty quick service. Came to Simms for the view - which is one of the best in the city. The food was okay, but not particularly great - especially at the prices. I don't mind paying more for better food, but this is a competitive market with some amazing restaurants. Maybe management should try other places for competitive review. Best part of the place was the city view and bread brought to the table before our meal. Ordered two filets, 1 7oz and 1 10z, both ordered medium, 7oz came out rare (still purple/red all the way through) while the other 10oz came out almost well done. You would think the bigger steak would come out under cooked if they were cooked at the same time. For $50 a steak you would think it would come with some type of sauce or at least one side, but no you have to pay extra for anything you want. Waiter who was great and offered to take the undercooked steak back to finish cooking, while the manager appeared to be in an argument with the bar staff. When it was brought back to the table you could tell it was just put under a broiler and didn't touch the stove again, barely cooked any more. We both ordered a glass of wine and it was maybe 3oz worth of wine in the glasses. Cheapest wine by the bottle they had was priced 3.5x the retail price After our meal the valet basically forced a tip out of me when my car was parked 2 ft from the entrance, all he did was back it up to the curb when we arrived and turned it on for us when we left. This was for my parents 61st anniversary and this place is lacking in service and quality control all over the board, as was our experience 8/16/25 for a 430 PM res., and the place was only open since 4PM. We sat on the patio and 4 dinners, 3 were chicken and one was steak. Starting with the beverage service, the server was nice but acting a bit frazzled. ICED TEA refills: Why take the glass away and bring a new one? Why not just use a pitcher instead and top off instead of taking 1/2 full glass away? I don't get it. FOOD: Salads OK, but Watermelon Salad vinaigrette barely detected. MAIN: Chicken arrived cooked well but potatoes underneath were ROOM TEMP, not hot-Kitchen quality control issue. SIDE: $12 Broccolini LIMP, warm, not hot, and OVERCOOKED and inedible, another KITCHEN control issue. COFFEE after dinner decaf was COLD (Reg was hot). Server was frazzled and not aware (Why not check this?), so had to replace TWO of three coffees but this took too long so dessert arrived and we had no coffee until too late. More TIMING issues. This is basic stuff. PLEASE work on these issues, because we will not be back based on these things and a $300+ bill. Ambiance OK, but place does need some renovation, which is apparent all over. Mostly the fact that food is not hot enough when coming out of the kitchen is NOT OK. Preventable. Fixable. I advise working on this because place could have been busier for a Saturday night and it is apparent why it is not. read more

So we look very it here and want to give kudos to all staff including our server Jackson. So good I popped my head in to the kitchen / staff and gave kudos. The only issue I really have is I asked to talk to the manager to give a good review to Jackson. He told me thanks but said if I gave him a review on yelp he would buy him dinner. Best dining experience I have ever had. My buddy had been talking about this place for months. He told me about their incredible weekend brunches and how he had crab for breakfast. He told me about the magic of wine down Wednesday. 50% off bottle wines on Wednesdays is game-changing. But I hadn't experienced it myself. Tony the Maître d'hôtel and John the bartender took care of us. Tony recommended incredible wines for us to taste. We had 3 different bottles and finished the night with a bit Grahams 40 year Port to finish the night. The food was even better than the drinks. Start off with some mussels, a seafood tower, or a fried calamari with ponzu sauce. Hell be greedy and try them all if you are with a group of 4. I had a bison sirloin for my main, but the sides stole the show. They call their sides Accompaniments. Instead of just getting a tiny portion that comes with your main dish, you order a side that can be shared with your friends. That may not seem like a big deal until you taste their Au Gratin Potatoes and Creamed Spinach and realize that just 3 spoonfuls of those flavor bombs would never be enough. I would definitely recommend getting a variety of sides because they really put care into what they create here. You will enjoy a variety of well crafted food. (Don't forget to try a sauce like the Cognac Peppercorn or Mushroom Cream sauce if you opt to eat a steak here. They were intentionally deceptive at the onset and when we requested our 8 meals that we paid for to be provided togo they went out of their way to not provide us the full meal. Thanksgiving day, Buffett brunch. Food was as one would expect at most hotel brunches. $60.00 pp with champagne by the glass. Just a brunch nothing spectacular but tasty. I reserved weeks in advance and we are select club members. We were seated in the lower overflow room with folding chairs! Again folding , uncomfortable folding chairs!! Sims is about the ambiance it is known for it!. This room is, well, basic. We felt like we were not part of the Sims dining experience. Not impressed! Our server Elliot, was apparently very busy, thus very lacking with attention. Oh I forgot it was a buffet. He probably was tired of going up and down the long distance of stairs to get to the center of the restaurant. We had go even farther to get to the buffet area which was in another room. The real frustration here is that there were plenty of two tops along the windows (ambiance and view) on both sides of the dining area, that were empty the entire time we were there. My fault for not requesting to be moved. The wife didn't t want me to bother them about it. She was uncomfortable and really didn't want to go the distance to get the buffet food. On our way out I asked at the host stand why we seated down there, when there were so many tables open in the main area. The young lady said they were busy and were sorry. My head shaking as we left. We have dined here many times, before and after Landry's ownership. Normally we like it, they are pricey but worth it. Not this past Thursday. We will not do another "event" there. On top of a very steep hill in the city of Lakewood is the Simms Steakhouse. The views of the surrounding mountains, the water feature by the front door and the free valet parking are among some of the highlights from my visit. The evening started out with a Chopped Salad that was garnished with bacon bits, goat cheese and large croutons. It was fresh and crisp and had a delightful flavor. The main course consisted of a 12oz Prime Rib steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The steak was a bit to fatty, I felt like a surgeon in an operating theatre trying to cut away all the fat and gristle, at the end of the meal the fatty portions occupied more than half the plate. It was also I little to rare for me, but I was informed by the waiter that they only serve this cut of meat at a medium-rare temperature since they cook the whole slab at once and cut off portions of meat as needed. The evening ended with a rather plain and tasteless cheesecake that looked like it was bought in bulk from Sams Club. A rather forgettable experience. read more

Great skyline view in upscale setting. Everything was spectacular with 1 exception. We started our diner with Mussels in pinot grigio broth and it was spectacular; the best version I ever had including all the seafood houses. Then came the caeser salad so big we could share, with generous shavings of parmigiano cheese and just the right amt of dressing. Another win. Everything was impressive but the main course. We both ordered the rib eye. The steaks were not grilled but tasted like broiled. Even though it was cooked to order (medium), the meat was tough and had much grizels. Nothing more than choiced steak. For an upscale steak house, this was disappointing. They need to order better grade of meat. It was no better than Outback's. I want to end on a better note - the potatoe au gratin we ordered as side to the steak was delish, lots of flavorful cheese but not overwhelming. We will visit Simms again but I personally will order all the ala cartes I mentioned, maybe add lobster bisque and oyster rockefeller and skip the steak as main, until at least they serve a better grade. read more

I decided to go here and use my Landry's birthday credit. Honestly if they weren't so crowded for happy hour I would probably come here more. The views really are phenomenal. And I have been coming since it was Simms landing back in the late 80s. I went for brunch and honestly wasn't expecting all that much. But I must admit for the cost I was quite impressed. There was unlimited crab legs, prime rib and several smaller items. The gazpacho was some of The best I've had. I did take advantage of the senior discount. But honestly $39 is a good deal for what you're getting. My waitress was great and when she saw I got crab brought the crackers and drawn butter to my table. If nothing else the view is worth at least half the cost of the brunch. if you haven't been here for a while give it another try. Their happy hour is great too.
