My friend and I did a private wine tour and both state it was the best we've ever been on. I have…read moredone wine tours in other areas of Italy, as well as in France, Croatia, Greece, and many areas of the US... none compare to the personable experience had with Stefano. He picked us up from the train station as predetermined and immediately started sharing information and points of interest on our drive to visit the town of Barolo. We toured the town, learned knowledge, he took our photos when wanted (hey we are women living in the age of Instagram), and bought us coffees and a bite to start the day. We visited 2 wineries in Barolo (as I requested when booking), with lunch in between at a restaurant with a stunning view and delicious food (cost not included in tour fee). The 2 wineries we visited were great, first a more modern family owned one and second a more homely own one. At both, Stefano and the winery owners gave us knowledge on the wines, the area, and food pairings. Stefano was very easy to speak with and it was fun asking his opinion on Italian and wine culture, etc.. as well as sharing ours. It was like spending the afternoon with a knowledgeable funny friend. I was insistent on not visiting a Babaresco winery as I am a HUGE Barolo fan but Stefano insisted we should try one if there is time (and luckily there was). We visited a winery owned by two sweet older men and tried over 10 wines there and sat chatting. I will forever remember this experience and 100% credit it to our wonderful guide. To know: The guide picked the wineries and restaurant based on the price point we wanted since that was an additional cost. Everything else was included in price (pickup/drop off, wine tasting at all wineries and snacks too). We visited: Pira, Cantina Stroppiana, and Grasso and also tasted (at additional fee) a tasting of Gaja wine at a shop while visiting the town of Barolo. In addition to the wineries we saw many sites and learned a lot of history not only about wine but the area. 100% recommend!

It is truly hard to imagine a more enjoyable motorcycling environment than what I found - beautiful, curvy mountain roads in every direction. Traffic was light. The weather was perfect. I rode for about eight hours each day and I feel like every portion was a thrill. It's hard to pick which part was the best - so many contenders! It's motorcycle heaven. I was really impressed with Mike's service. Originally I had planned to merely rent a bike (the BMW F800 GT) and do a self-guided tour, but I am so thankful that Mike showed me around. I am sure I wouldn't have been nearly as ambitious without his knowledge of the area - and that made all the difference. He brought the bike out to my hotel and also helped me get to the bus station on my way out. He really went the extra mile in every way to make sure my trip was smooth. The bike was in great shape and was fun to ride. I also rented a jacket and helmet, which was really nice to be able to do instead of having to pack my own. My only regret is that I didn't have more time to stay! The next time I visit Grenoble I will definitely be contacting M2 once again.

This is the most expensive tour company I have used with the least amount of support. In fact there is no SAG wagon, in an emergency you have to figure out how to use the train and bus system, no refueling with energy bars, the group consisted of 19 rider and only 2 guides. The guides and transport/cook for picnic lunches are contracted out. One guide was a previous employee from 6 years ago that flew in from California to help. The second guide only works for Bike Switzerland doing one or two tours a year. My GPS did not match the route we were riding, it didn't match the guides and my position on the GPS left me confused of where I really was. There was no cultural wine tasting, cheese making tour, breakfast on the farm. You were on the bike route for 9 hours. Getting to the hotels to late to explore the village or take in the resort. After the first day of riding 6 riders did not ride the second day and at noon another 4 dropped out having to figure out how to get there bike and themselves to that evenings hotel. I will stop my review here, to say the least I was very disappointed in Bike Switzerland and I had been looking forward to doing this trip for the past 4 years.

The staff were all very friendly and patient with the non-french speakers in the group. A lovely Hotel, very big and fairly easy to get lost in. The food/buffets were of an exceptional standard. The rooms were very cosy and naturally had amazing views of the ski slopes. They had animal head as lights stands and very brightly painted rooms. This hotel has a lovely gym, sauna and spa area. There is also a pool which goes into the outdoors, which brings some nice scenery whilst swimming. There are other activities to do if you are not a keen skiier, for example shopping, gym, spa's, go to cafe's. The bar area was also very lively and a great place to unwind after a hard day out on the slopes. Also a fantastic chance to meet fellow skiiers. I am not a natural skiier and I found this very accommodating and situated on the main transport links into Chamonix town. The hotel was a bus ride away from Geneve Airport. There may be nearer routes but this was the one we chose.

Creating food on a mass scale is very difficulty, the workers are awesome in the dining room, and work hard but the amount of food they have to put out is too much volume to be at any kind of quality. The worst is the ski instructors. We were misinformed. Don't believe that you will get a "Ski tour Guide" Rather you get a mothergoose style ski instructor who screams at you if you do not do exactly what he/she expects. The rudeness and non communicative style is terrible. I am American, do not speak french, and therefore was not able to ski alone in fear of getting lost without local language skills. I did not want to get myself in a situation where I couldn't find my way back, or take the wrong lift. I am a low end intermediate skier who enjoys Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire and the American West, so have a lot of experience. However, because I am not a black Diamond skier they put me in the "baby class" It was so incredibly boring. It was also dangerous. Because they want to teach "mother-goose style" we were constantly at risk of being skied into. AND that's exactly what happened-- repeatedly! I finally said, I am not going to stand in the middle of the mountain waiting for your permission to move, I will see you at the bottom (which wasn't far at all). I got screamed at! Madame, stay where I tell you to stay!. My friend broke her ACL because someone skied into her. So much for their instruction! Old school instruction, ridiculous experience. Spent a lot of money to get there, flew from NY to Geneva and didn't enjoy myself. Couldn't wait to get back to the East Coast and ski with respectful people. My advice: If you visit Chomonix, do not go to Club Med, stay at a local place, hire a tour guide daily to take you at your level, eat in town and enjoy. Although friends of mine (I was in a CT ski club tour) went out for dinner and waited to be waited on (in a line); the counter woman ignored them, they politely asked to be waited on and she screamed, WHAT NO BONJOUR, NO HELLO, GET OUT!! OMG, really! Do they not have hospitality classes for the French? It is exactly as you have heard all these years, sadly to report but true, the French seem to be snobs. Probably best to go to the Italian Alps or the Swiss Alps. Wherever you go, don't go to club med in Chomonix for skiing.
