Mixed feelings. Have 2 separate experiences over the past year. Mechanic is super helpful. Recently went in for a head gasket for my wife... but they ended up performing extra work for an additional $120 (spark plug, oil change) that was not talked about or agreed upon prior. No one likes being surprised when it's time to pay. Not sure why it's their practice to perform additional work without informing the customer. Side note: the spark plugs had been changed less than a year ago. So I'm not sure why they changed them again. Lady at the counter was pretty stern about it when we brought it up. Now that is out of the way, these guys know their stuff, even the receptionist can tell you what's up and explain to you in very simple terms. Really great group of people doing great work. The price is very reasonable on top that they also only use original factory parts. What I appreciate is that they are pretty upfront about stuff and will not really try to upsell you to a service unless they think it is necessary. Been here twice, and I plan to go back. We were experiencing a strange problem with our Avalon. The brakes were making a loud bang noise and the engine would stop running. Instead of just replacing the most likely part, a steering sensor ($500) that the codes were indicating, Joseph spent a few hours trouble shooting the electrical system until he found a ground wire that was not making contact.. Although we did need to pay for the labor to trouble shoot at least we did not have to pay for the $500 part we did not need. Thank you very much Joe. read more

Sorry to say that Simply Automotive, simply dropped the ball on this one. Spoke with Lynn a week and a half ago to make an appointment for transmission service, serpentine belt change and a full vehicle inspection. Took the car in yesterday (2/7/24) to have the service done, dropped it off & got a call back about 3 hours later, stating car was done. What I got was a "safety inspection" (whatever that is) which appears to have been basically a brake inspection (rough idle wasn't mentioned), fresh serpentine belt, and an overfilled transmission. Noted that because on the drive home it was shifting oddly. Had to get out my suction pump & drew out almost a full quart of ATF from the transmission. Works fine now, but...the wotk order said nothing about pulling the pan on the transmission, no filter change, nada. So - for $380 I got a ticking time bomb back from my service appointment (good way to blow out seals on a transmission is to overfill it) and service that frankly isn't even up to Jiffy Lube standards. Lynn was pleasant enough, but I won't be darkening their door in future. Caveat emptor, folks. read more

I brought my sick 2004 Toyota Tundra truck here to Be fixed. Joe troubleshooted and diagnosed the problem with the truck and determined it had a cracked head and several other items that needed to be fixed. Over the course of several weeks, Joe diligently worked on fixing this truck and provided me timely updates. At the end, everything got fixed and the truck ran like new. in my opinion, Joe and Simply Toyota are one of the best Toyota shops in the Inland Empire. I should have written this years ago. All the positive reviews have prompted me to finally post to let folks see another perspective on Simply Toyota. In 2016 I bought a very low mileage 2002 Sienna from a friend in Redlands. My first plan was to get it up to my maintenance standards. I brought it to Simply Toyota for a transmission service - fluid and filter. Simple enough, right? I'm very handy with cars but I was very busy at the time and it's kind of a pain so I figured I'd hire it out. After I drop it off I get a call from a mechanic saying the differential is making noise and he recommends rebuilding the transmission. I'm suspicious right away but hear him out. I go check the car with him and hear nothing. He says he can hear it on the lift and it's only a matter of time before it goes out. I listen while it's on the lift and hear nothing. He's really pushing the rebuild. I say it's a chance I'll take and just to change the fluid and filter. They charge me for it and I pay. Curious, when I get the van home I jack it up and check the work. The bolts on the transmission pan are virgin from the factory, no marks. I get the correct fluid and filter and do it myself. The fluid is very dark brown when I change it, the filter looks like the original, the pan magnets have not been cleaned, and all evidence says they did nothing to my car and charged me anyway. I could feel a difference after replacing the 14 year old fluid. The transmission was smooth and strong and shifts were right on and crisp, just like one would expect from a low mile Toyota transmission from this era. And... no differential noise. I had no problems with that van other than squeaky rear brakes and fixing a broken rear door latch when I had it. I sold it to a friend in Texas and he's driven it trouble free for years. Why am I writing this? Because I hate dishonest mechanics who try to recommend unnecessary and expensive work. This guy took me for a rube when I have more experience than most under the hood. Cars are my hobby, and I do most of my own work unless I'm busy or it's a particularly dirty or advanced job like rebuilding a transmission. Why so late? Partially because I wanted to be sure the van transmission proved to be solid, which it has. Also, I figured others would have my same experience and roast this place. That has not happened. Your experience may be awesome. Mine was textbook shady mechanic trying to fleece me because he thought I didn't know anything about cars. Maybe he was a bad apple and isn't there any more. Who knows, who cares. Why was he even dealing with me directly? It made me feel like he was of some importance there, but I didn't ask. You get one chance to make a first impression and my impression of this place is that they are crooked as hell. read more

I have been going to Simply Toyota for 8+ years for every major and minor service that was needed for my Toyota 4Runner or my family's Lexus. The head mechanic there is very knowledgable and has always been straight with me. From a simple oil change to rebuilding my engine they have done it all. It's funny that as I start to look at getting a new car from a different manufacturer, the one thing that holds me back is knowing I wouldn't be able to take it to simply Toyota for maintenance. Knowledgable, fair, and dependable mechanics are hard to come by! It is also great that they have a fenced in area where they park cars so you can feel a bit more secure about leaving your car for any service that would take more than a day. Brought my 2015 Toyota Corolla in for a check engine light. Contacted through Yelp and told me to bring it in any time. Hooked it up to an OBD scanner and quickly diagnosed it as a small leak in evap system which could've been caused by simply not tightening the gas cap enough. Instead of charging a diagnostic fee, Joe turned off the check engine light and said to bring it back in if the light came on again. All within 10 minutes of me driving in their PACKED lot and full garage. They were busy even at 7am but still helped me without long wait. They didn't charge me one dime. While other shops I reached out to wanted as much as $125 to check it out. First impressions are lasting impressions and they are first class in my book. Few weeks ago I took my 2006 Toyota Matrix in this shop to have a taillight assembly replaced and the dome light fixed (among other things). I provided the assembly and explained that the issue with the dome light was not simply the bulb. They installed the taillight, but forgot to install the bulb. They replaced the dome light bulb, which of course did not work. Today I took the car in to have both headlights assembly and the missing taillight bulb installed. I got​ a call within a couple of hours letting me know that the car was ready. I got there and realized that the headlights assembly were not installed. When I inquired, I was told that the item concerning the headlights had been crossed out and it would take 3 hours to install them and $360. Taking my business somewhere else. I wasted half of my day off on this business and received no apology. PS. One star because I cannot select zero read more
