    House noodles with chicken

Just had lunch with my wife. We've eaten here several times and keep coming back because the food is soooo good. I've worked extensively in Asia and the food here is authentic. We started with the Vietnamese summer rolls with duck. So fresh, the outside rice wrapping belies the crunchy and delicious interior which with its peanut sauce could be lunch on its own. My wife had the Basa fish dish in ginger sauce while I had the house noodles. As you can see from the pic's beautifully served. Atmosphere is nice while the service is friendly and efficient. Highly recommend coming by if you are in the Tenafly area.

My standards were a bit high for this restaurant due to the amount of good reviews. I was expecting food with bursts of flavors, but I got the exact opposite. We ordered: Summer roll with shrimp (4 pieces) $11 - 2/5 The presentation was beautiful but the rolls were BLAND. It was basically cold lettuce, plain noodles, carrots, cucumbers, and tiny pieces of shrimp wrapped in rice paper. The peanut sauce didn't do much for flavor enhancement. Spicy Saigon Chicken $19 - 3/5 This dish comes with string beans, bell peppers, and a cup of white rice sauteed in a chili sauce. There was a good portion of chicken and it was cooked well. My issue is that the sauce was SALTY! I couldn't taste any chili and it wasn't even mildly spicy. Garlic Chicken $19 - 2/5 The dish came with zucchinis and string beans sauteed in garlic sauce...... and it had absolutely no garlic flavor. Just another SALTY dish. The STARS of the show were the Thai Iced Tea ($5), Vietnamese Iced Coffee ($5), and the complimentary shrimp crackers with a spicy chili dip. Those were the most flavorful. Service was great, so no complaints there. The restaurant is small with a casual/laidback ambiance. Maybe I caught them on a bad day? I know they have a lunch special menu so maybe I'd give that a try and order something different. But based on this experience, I'm disappointed with the lack of seasoning. Not sure if this is authentic at all. My quest for finding the best Viet restaurant in Bergen County continues...

We usually order takeout from this place. Really good Vietnamese food. I tried their fried spring rolls, pad Thai, fried rice and Saigon chicken. So far I like all the food from them. Service is good. Friendly staff. Inside is nice and clean.

We have been customers for over 10 years. Food is a bit pricy, but you know exactly what you're getting. Until tonight - we ordered the rice platter with grilled pork. The pork was dry, chopped up with maybe half of what we used to get, with a lot more rice. We used to get two full juicy pieces. I'd rather pay more for the same quantity. Never again.

    Banh Mi Sliders

My partner and I stopped by for dinner and it wasn't very crowded. The service was quick and attentive: immediately after sitting, the staff brought out our waters and a bowl of shrimp chips. I ordered the Banh Mi Sliders, which was plated creatively-- basically your average pork banh mi cut into 4s instead of halves, with some pickled veggies on the side. It didn't really taste like an authentic banh mi, but it was still really tasty. The mayo and hoisin sauce gave it sweet and rich flavors. Unfortunately, the pork itself was quite dry / rubbery. It would've also been nice if they had more options for the banh mi protein filling, including vegetarian options. The bread also wasn't a traditional French baguette (it tasted sweeter and was soft and pillowy rather than crispier) but was nonetheless delicious and provided for a nice texture and flavor profile. Overall, the bread and sauces were the highlight of this dish. My partner ordered the Crispy Tofu entree, which was really good! The tofu and veggies were very flavorful and the tofu texture was really nice and crispy.

I had grilled pork chop and my date had the seafood Pho. Both satisfied our craving for Vietnamese food.

Satisfied our craving for Vietnamese food! had the grilled pork chop and my date had the seafood pho. We shared the fried spring roll. All good including service.

Went for Saturday lunch. Wasn't busy, about half full. We ordered summer rolls, Bah mi, rice platter and soups. Most of the dishes were good, but would have wanted the chicken in rice platter to be more moist and bigger chunks. Thai ice tea was okay.

I was amazed when I found this little hole-in-the-wall gem in one of my old haunts, Closter. I decided to give it a try. I got two bowls of the beef combo Pho, a single order of the regular beef Pho, the Spicy Ma Mi banh mi sandwich, and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee. These items are the easiest to judge, as most of the Vietnamese restaurants around Bergen County and the surrounding area kind of fail, choosing to cater to the population (skimping on spice, choosing western ingredients over authentic Asian ingredients, etc.). When I picked up my call-in order, the woman at the counter was very nice, though not Vietnamese and neither was the cook (not a problem at all, just an observation). She handed my order and I paid with a nice tip. I made it almost half way home when I got a call from the restaurant, and the same person told me she forgot to hand me the Vietnamese Iced Coffee and apologized. I made a u-turn and drove back to Ma Mi Eatery and picked up my drink. None of this exchange knocks any points against them, in fact, I was happy they called me. When I got home and unpacked everything, it all looked pretty authentic. I started with the combo beef Pho, adding all the toppings, plus the condiments of Hoisin sauce and Sriracha. What was missing was the fresh Thai basil! Then I read the menu and saw that they put the basil IN the soup when they serve it, so when I got home, all the basil was wilted. That's a shame because every single AAA Pho restaurant in Westminster, California serves their Pho with fresh Thai basil so customers can control how much basil they want, and to prevent wilting. That is my only real critique. Otherwise, the Pho was delicious, the broth was flavorful, and the really LOADED the soup with beef. Seriously, a lot of places in Westminster aren't that generous with brisket, but Ma Mi made my day. The Spicy Ma Mi banh mi sandwich was delicious, and loaded with all the appropriate toppings and condiments, though I wish they packed the wet ingredients (pickled carrot and daikon, cilantro, jalapeño) so the bread wouldn't get soggy, which it did, slightly. The bread itself was not the best bread I've had, typically, the bread used in most Vietnamese sandwich shops have a flaky crust and airy soft bread inside. This one a bit coarse on the crust with a heavy crunch. The interior was okay though. All in all, it was a great effort. The next time I revisit my hometown, I'll be sure to stop by Ma Mi Eatery for sure.

I customized my pho bowl by adding the Beef Ball (Bo Vien), which also came with rice noodles, cilantro, onion, and scallions. I was given a mini bag filled with jalapeños, basil leaves, limes, bean sprouts, sriracha packets, and hoisin sauce packets to complement the pho. Overall, the soup was absolutely dynamite and comforting. The broth had a superb flavor bomb, which made the entire meal extremely satisfying. I enhanced my bowl with the addition of jalapeños, basil leaves, lime juice, and sriracha sauce. The order was delivered in a timely manner. The staff member who assisted me over the phone was super kind, especially since I requested extra sriracha packets. The price point of the pho was nicely affordable. Overall, I highly recommend going to Binh Duong IV for a delicious bowl of pho. This restaurant does not disappoint when it comes to the satisfaction and taste of the food.

3.5: A casual, unpolished spot for Vietnamese food that's probably better for takeout…read more We stopped here for lunch on a weekend and there were a few customers already dining in and quite a few takeout orders coming in. They had two kinds of pho: one with three types of meat (rare steak, beef balls and brisket -$16) and one with one meat ($15) plus choice of additional protein at either $1 or $2 extra. Both were pretty good but we felt quite thirsty afterward from the sodium and seasonings. We enjoyed the tofu spring rolls (though the tofu was hard to pick out) and the summer rolls. There was a little miscommunication around the pho and what was included, and my pho came out with the wrong type of protein at first. But they fixed it in short order and were nice and accommodating. The actual space looks like a larger Chinese takeout place so nothing special there. There's also a sign that said to seat yourself and then order at the kiosk. The server was there and said he could serve us. But you can save money by just ordering at the kiosk or getting takeout. 3% more on credit card orders too. I guess the prices are what you get these days but felt it, maybe because of the lack of ambiance. The plaza is pretty sad looking, with some empty storefronts and smaller shops like a nail place, pizza, small Greek spot, and a Fresh Grocer. The plus side is parking is easy peasy.
