I walked into Simpson Shoes in Lambton a couple of weeks ago with a friend.
I was looking for a particular brand of long boots which could take full orthodics. Even though the woman that helped me initially was pleasant, the man who I believe is the owner suggested checking the website as to whether they were available, so far so good I thought.
He then told me they were available from the company and when I asked if he would get them in for me, in a very terse way he told me he would never do that as if I tried them and didn't like them, he would be left with a pair of boots. Plus it would cost him postage!
Now I think of myself as a reasonable person and if he had explained that in a reasonable tone, I fully understand that as a small business owner it is difficult to be left with unsold stock, however he was so rude when telling me his woes, that myself and my friend who overheard the whole exchange, will never darken his door again. So not so good for a small business owner to get such a reputation I would have thought.
I went on to the Easy Living shoe shop in The Junction, who a) also cater for clients who wear orthodics and b) have a much larger range of brands AND most importantly of all are REALLY kind , helpful and very good to deal with. They were able to help me with boots and Mr Cranky at Lambton missed out on a $300 sale. As well as my recommendation to several friends to check out Easy Living. read more
