Sinangag Express has everything going for it: It's cheap, it's yummy, and it's open 24 hours. What else could you ask for? It's pretty hard to order something wrong at Sinangag Express. So far, I've ordered the Tapsilog, the Tocilog, the Longsilog, the Liempo, the Bagnet, the Bangusilog, and the Adobo, and they're all so reasonably better than their cheap price tags would suggest. If I have to think of a gripe, it would be that one order is not enough. I'm not saying that the orders are small; rather, the food is that good that you want more.

Served in red plates with partitions that will either make you feel like a kid or a student in a cafeteria, this place is anything but fancy and it's also self-service so don't expect any the "customer is king" treatment here. They've also got their own iced tea to accompany your meal so order a glass just for good measure. If you're not into that, they've got a giant fridge with C2 for you to indulge in. So yes, SEx is a simple tapsilogan but then again, a really obscure place like this could be the start of many an interesting story. Hey, I've had my first order of two cups of rice here!

I have yet to find another restaurant that serves better pancakes. I can have two (or three) pieces of their Classic (or walnut) pancake any time of the day. Like their pancakes, the other food on their menu is also good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Their spaghetti is delicious and so is the Best Taco in Town (the title is debatable though), and I'm assuming they're using one meat recipe for these. For those who are loyal to their 'Silogs, their Beef Tapa is a runaway winner. My current favorite though is the Spicy Chicken Fillet with Brown Rice Pilaf. The staff at their new location in SM Southmall (they transferred to the lower ground floor) seems to not have settled in yet. Only one person goes around to take orders or assist the customers while the others are always behind the counter and aren't as attentive and perky as they used to be. Basically, it's rice that tastes like sinigang and has the vegetables and meat of your normal sinigang. So what makes it so great? It's such a cool idea to be eating rice that tastes like sinigang yet there's no soup! How on earth do they make that thing? Their Chorizo Rice, Tinapa Rice and Bagoong Rice are good, too. It's pretty mucch the same concept as the Sinangag na Sinigang. I also always order their Turon KC. For me, this is like a better version of turon. It's sweet, filling and you'll want more. By the way, if you're planning to drop by this branch, make a reservation first. Lots of people dine here especially for lunch and dinner.

You can see guys in shorts and t-shirts seated next to office folk in uniforms. All are there to catch a quick meal, particularly during daytime. After office, the clients tend to stay a bit longer. I went there one hot summer noon and it was surprisingly cool inside. There's nothing spectacular about the food at Sinangag Express, but that may be the point. It's just one nice place to have a quick meal with fried rice as the base. It's nice to know that if I ever get hungry at 3am, there's a place where I can have an early breakfast.
