I was reading the notices and schedule posted on the outside window when Maurice held the front door open and invited me in. I got to speak with and be with a truly amazing, caring, " real", passionate and kindhearted lady, Judy Wolfe and I got her, I really got her purpose, her love, her drive and her genuine care. God Bless You Judy!! She shared with me how this center came about, their activities, their schedule, the set up and support and upcoming events. This Veteran Center provides avenues for counseling and support, legal and medical services, transportation, education, financial guidance, special services, media, employment and housing assistance and a " buddy" system. I mentioned that my wife is also an MSW and a social worker who did work at the VA assisting veterans. The Santa Clarita Veteran Services center is a non profit community service establishment located in a tiny shopping center( dry cleaner. print shop) on the south side of Lyons just past Orchard Village Rd heading towards Railroad Ave. Veterans Day is in about 9 weeks. It was an honor to serve my great country and an honor to serve and help any which way I can at the Santa Clarita Veteran Services Center!

I have a daughter with Special Needs and have found the staff to be manipulative, dishonest, unkind and disrespectful. You are told to "submit invoices and they will reimburse you for activiites." However, what you find after waiting a year for reimbursement that either 1. The person who told you this is "gone" and their email has been wiped clean; 2. Oh! Who told you THAT? 3. I have no idea what you are talking about? 3. " You sent me something that is a. Blurry and can't read it, b. Something that won't open {although last week you could} c. Maybe you need to talk to someone else...goes on and on..OR, you can talk to MIJI! Who?? So, then you find out through the Operator who this is and, "oh, no, we can't possibly pay those invoices {even though they were approved multiple times}, as "we just can't do that." It goes on and on. Print and save your emails. Maybe I'll start recording my conversations just to make me feel better. If you have a child or adult in Regional Center, become the squeeky wheel and acknowledge the reality of the situation. I believe, eventually, it will end. I do wonder where they find these people
