Sioux Lookout (aka the Hub of the North) is a town of 5300 along the Via Canadian route that Gayle and I took recently. We stopped here and had a chance to look around, as the main street was only a block or so away from the train station. We arrived during Day 2 of our journey and appreciated the chance to stretch and breath some fresh air.
Sioux Lookout is in the Canadian shield which means that there's lots of pretty rock, water, and trees that surround the town. And based on our subsequent views outside our train window, it looks like a hunting and fishing mecca. It's also a regional center for the local Indigenous population. read more
