You'll likely only find residents of the Bootlegger's Cove neighborhood hanging out here. It's smaller than the Elderberry, but much, much less crowded. There are 5 parking spaces. Unlike Elderberry, it's unfortunately not connected to the Coastal Trail (http://www.yelp.com/biz/tony-knowles-coastal-trail-anchorage), Why would you go here? If you want to picnic, near downtown, AWAY FROM THE RIFF-RAFF. There are also whales for the kids to crawl all over. In the summer you can gawk at tourists coming into Anchorage on the trains, as they gawk at Alaska.

If I lived down in the cove, I'd probably come here quite often to read or write but as it stands, there isn't much reason to visit when you're already so close to the Coastal Trail, Elderberry Park or even the Delaney Park Strip. There are a couple of cute whales here but not much else for kids. I probably see more people walking their dogs here than anything else. Since Nulbay is so far back into the neighborhood, I rarely see many people kicking back on the lawn which can definitely be a plus! All-in-all, a nice little unpopular spot with a great view hidden away in what I think is one of Anchorage's cutest neighborhoods.

According to their website, they offer: Accessible play equipment for 2-5 year olds Accessible play equipment for 5-12 year olds Open playfield Sledding hill Softball field Sand volleyball court Picnic shelter, tables and benches Portable restroom available from May to September On-street parking I was mainly on the "open playfield". It's a HUGE field of grass big enough to play any game that involves a ball and friends. It's quite frankly odd that it doesn't come up as a huge block of green (as most parks do) on Google maps. There's a large pavilion that's great for cook-out's. If you want to get out and throw/kick a ball around, and maybe grill some meats...you can't do much better than here!

David Green park includes a picnic shelter, lots of tables to sit, and lots of green space. Most of the equipment is on artificial turf. There are a ton of climbing/hanging/and slide options. They have a slide that leads to a sand area but it's completely flooded due to lots of rain fall. Lots of swings --including the "big boy," saucer swing. It's a great lowkey park; highly recommend.

A setup that would seem mundane in the lower 48, but isn't very common in the ANC. It's big enough that you could throw a blanket down, have a picnic, and not feel surrounded. The park is beautiful to look at but I just cannot bear the dog poop smell. I love dogs, however pet owners in the area don't pick up after their pets. I do love this park during snowy winters. The kids enjoy sledding on the hill side of the park. It is just a beautiful scenery when the park is covered with snow. In short, I only go to this park in the winter and I avoid it in the summer.

And its finally in front of Folker Park. And boy oh boy has the city utterly demolished some of the best things about this park. Accessibility path? Gone. Garden controlled by the community? Gone. Benches? Gone. Beautiful trees lining the entry path, including a VERY old spruce (probably about 100 years old, i couldn't count all the rings) GONE. I suppose some things may be replaced when they're done the project, who knows. But the trees that made our street so lovely are gone forever. When we asked for sidewalks, we only meant we needed them on ONE side of the street. I guess we weren't specific enough. Now we have sidewalks with nothing to look at but barren asphalt. Its like a mini Spenard. Sigh.

There's an inspirational pond with a few fowl flocking about. Nice views if your fond of water in your park. Campbell Creek subtly makes its way through. They've built a bridge with a wildlife observation deck. Pretty cool, huh? Some soccer and ball fields, but no one currently playing on them. A big highlight is the Waldon park playground...you know...for the kiddies. The Campbell Creek trail runs the length of the park and there's a location map posted for your safety and convenience. For me, it's a simple quiet piece of land to throw down a blanket and grab a guitar for an hour. The neighborhood could be nicer, but I had no issues. 08/23

I probably spend more time at this park year round than any other park in Anchorage proper. It is…read moreconveniently connected to multiple trails and easy to access on foot from most of West Anch, Spenard, Northstar/Valley of the Moon, Midtown, and Downtown. If you've got a bike, you can connect from even further out very easily. As such, the Lagoon looks a lot like a Gilmore Girls community and is popular with people year round. There are frequently small sponsored events going on- the coolest of which involves ice skating in the winter. I personally love this park because it's a great place to bird watch. It's a fragile breeding ground for aquatic birds (take note dog owners - IT IS NOT OK TO LET YOUR DOGS OFF LEASH HERE OR LET THEM SWIM!) Red Neck Grebes are one if the more unusual arctic birds that breed here. The arctic terns also put on quite a show. Various loons and cranes also make an appearance, as well as some unique ducks. There's also an awesome playground and snack bar for the kiddies. A few years ago they also installed a bike counter that tracks the thousands that use the Tony Knowles at various intervals - it's fun to watch the numbers climb as the season goes on. There's also a free bike maintenance station here. Definitely a great location for lots and tourists alike, but parking is a problem, so carpool or better yet, use the trails!

This is a park which also goes by the name also known as Margaret Eagan Sullivan Park, is home to a…read moreman-made water fowl sanctuary, a lake, a disc golf course and a playground. They have private parking lots for you to park free of charge. It is located near downtown and is a welcomed break from the hustle and bustle of the city. It conveniently lies at the intersection of two of Anchorage's most popular trails, the Tony Knowles and Chester Creek trails. There were many runners traveling through while I was there, going through the two little tunnels that run under the road. You will find benches and picnic tables here to sit around the lake. This is home to lots, I mean lots, lots of waterfowl. They seemed aggressive, so I kept my distance. The disc golf course was nice but was covered in snow and mud. The lake is nice and during the winter is converted to an ice hockey/skating rink. My only complaint is that the park could be a little cleaner, even though part is that could be due to me visiting off-season. There were some maintenance guys there do some other stuff. The park is touted as a great place to bird watch in the spring and you can see other animals such as moose, beaver in the early morning or late evening, muskrats, foxes, otters, and minks, year-round, but it is rare. I did not see any of them. This nature park has a calming kind of peace to it, even though you hear the hum of cars on the nearby road. Just sitting on the bench looking out to the lake was so very soothing. If your schedule permits, I highly recommend visiting this place to just relax and recharge.
