We used to come to Six Rivers Brewery twice a week. It was one of our favorite family spots-kids were welcomed, and we happily supported them through COVID because we understood how hard those years were on small businesses. But it's been six years... and somehow we're still expected to do half the job ourselves. Order at the counter. Bus your own table. Hunt down utensils. Then, when you actually interact with the staff, you're often met with attitudes that make you feel like you're inconveniencing them. Hospitality isn't complicated--it's about making people feel welcome. If customer service isn't your thing, working with the public probably isn't the right career choice. Being busy is one thing. Being consistently rude is another. The beer is still good, but the experience has gone from "can't wait to come back" to "why did we bother?" It's disappointing to watch a place that used to be such a community favorite lose the warmth that made it special in the first place. read more

The price of the rock fish tacos were outrageous upon first glance at $10 a piece, but what made me order them was the blurb that explained it was local, line-caught rockfish from coastline fisheries. Both tacos had a decent amount of grilled rockfish in them and they curated a good mix of toppings to complement the fish. I also tried the stinger pizza which wasn't bad, but just alright for the price and quality. The food took a long time to come out, but I guess it's fine because you can drink some beers in the meantime. There's a sign that explains how the place works when you walk in: grab a menu, seat yourself, then order at the counter. Our favorite brewery find on vacation. We ordered mango habenero wings and a mack burger. Sorry, no pictures as we devoured before we thought about it. We tried every beer that wasn't a pale ale or IPA. They were all awesome! Which is hard to say for most breweries. We love everything about this place. If only we lived closer. Came here for the craft beer. Was pleasantly surprised by the food -- it's pretty standard pub fair with some flare. The Tuesday fried chicken special was quite excellent. The beer is great -- definitely recommend the Chili Pepper Ale if you like spicy beers. Love this place. I used to go every Friday and meet my son for beer and nachos. Highlight of the week. You must try the Sasquach IPA.

I would like to start this by saying- the beer is the only good thing about this place. I showed up with a few ladies after work and sat at the bar to enjoy a beer and split some nachos.. the bartender was immediately VERY unpleasant, it was busy so I understood at first. But she continued to be rude and dismissive toward us..we waited a while to order but noticed she was helping people who came to the "ordering area" before us (even though we had been sitting at the bar 15 minutes.) So I went and stood in line- she then was also rude and told me that I needed to sit back at the bar and we could order from there, okay. Ultimately another server took our order, she was kinda nice, until she and the rude bartender started talking poorly about us in front of us.. the entire experience was extremely uncomfortable. It took about 40 minutes to get some nachos, they were not very good. They had almost no cheese and a weird layer of grease (the food isn't really the point of this post, as we didn't order anything besides the nachos.) As someone who has been a server/bartender/manager for 11+ years I was absolutely taken back by the staffs behavior. If I were the owner I would definitely consider taking a serious look at the people you have working front of house. Their behavior was entirely uncalled for and honestly was disgusting. We will never return and I will be sure to let people know not to come either. Very disappointed. read more

Ordered prawns. I noticed a strand of black hair cooked into one of them. It grossed me out so bad that I paid the bill (NO TIP!) and left. I had to wait for almost 45 minutes to get a table so I was at the bar having a beer. I guess this place is a pick-up joint but I had no idea. I will never return for these reasons. Worst hamburger I've had in years. It was burnt and dried out, the fries were frozen and microwaved into cardboard, the tomato died a month ago, and for that we waited 30 minutes for our food. Pathetic. This place used to be good, not great, but worth it. Now it's overpriced and terrible. Been here twice and must say one of the bar tenders is very rude. I went back a second time to make sure the first time wasn't just a bad night. I was told about the fried chicken on Tuesday nights by another waitress from a different restaurant in Arcata. Honestly the chicken was not that good. The pretzel and beer cheese was very good, but the broccoli and cheese soup stole the show. There was one staff member that was amazing and I think her name was April. If it wasn't for her I would give less than 1 star. Beer was very good, I had the Hazy both times. Unfortunately like I said I will not go back due to the short bar tender. The brewery restaurant that has an open view of the great Pacific Ocean over the busy Central Avenue in horseback riding town of McKinleyville just north of Arcata sits on top of the expansive knoll. There are multiple TVs and pool table in the back and the background music is ok. However their beer is flat and bitter. We tried both Lady's Hazy IPA and Pale Ale on tap. Pizza with extra cheese was way too salty. The thin crust was ok. Due to the fact that the two different toppings pizza was so unreasonably salty and beer flat and bitter, I am giving solid three stars. The service was ok. read more

We loved this brewery! In fact, we liked it so much, we went two days in a row during our stay in McKinleyville. The beers here are excellent. I especially liked the Redwood Rye Bourbon Barrel Grand Cru and Macadamia Nut Porter. We made sure we got some to take home. You can get any beer on tap to go in a crowler can or growler. The food was also excellent. The pizzas are especially good. We LOVED the sweet heat pizza. The jalapeno poppers were also good, with the same sweet heat habanero jelly as the pizza. Salad and burger was also good. We did not have problems with the service because we went on weekdays, but I can see how the line can get long quickly when it's busy. It would definitely deter me from ordering more when I see that it's a long wait. It would be nice if you can order from the table if you're eating in. We stopped in at Six Rivers to grab some supper and to try out their beer while visiting Eureka and the Redwoods. Food here we really enjoyed. I liked my cheeseburger very much as well as fries with a citrus salt on them. I got their Chili Pepper Ale and really liked that beer a lot. It had a spicy, peppery heat to it but wasn't too heavy. It was a good lighter beer and the heat wasn't too overwhelming. At least not for me. read more

We were in town for a baseball game and found this place. It is very large - accommodated all of us perfectly. We had a Mack Burger - it was tasty. The light APA beer was very good. This restaurant has so much going for it; nice location, easy access, pleasant interior. I wish I could give them a better rating. But both times I have been there my experience was identical: Poor customer service Mediocre food. In both instances, I called in an order for pickup. No trouble there. But upon my arrival, when I approached the bar to pay for my food, the attitude of the women conducting my transaction was such a turn off. Two different visits, two different women, same bad attitude. There were no issues with the transaction, it was just a case of a smug attitude and unfriendly encounter. Nothing precipitated it. I even paid a tip in advance of knowing anything about the food or service. I ordered Fish-n-Chips on my first visit and I was asked if I wanted Halibut and I said no thanks. This is when I first noticed the smug attitude. Odd, but okay... She delivered my food and off I went. It was the most boring Fish-n-Chips I've ever had. I ordered a Cheeseburger on my second visit and the young woman who waited on me, very much like the first server, just conveyed a superior attitude from the moment she greeted me. Neither of these women were welcoming or friendly. This time I did not pay a tip in advance. A few minutes went by and she brought out my burger in food container and asked in a snotty voice, "Ya wanna bag" I said "Yes" and although she complied, she made it obvious that it was inconvenient to her. I get home (5 minutes away) and I can see that the French Fries are barely cooked - nothing golden about them. And the hamburger was extremely rare. My dinner had been cooked and delivered in a hurry. I have no idea why, I didn't ask them to hurry. Two strikes now and that's it for me. I won't bother. I wish it were different, because I'd really like to be able to stop by and pick up something on the way home, but between the snotty girls at the bar and only so-so food, I can't justify giving them another chance. Good management starts at the top, so after two separate experiences with two separate servers, I have to go with the belief that the air of arrogance that permeated the room is a tone set higher up the chain. read more

Only went for their in house brews. Bartender let me try some different brews and I settled on the Raspberry Lambic over the pale ale. I enjoyed every last drop of my choice. Next day I made sure to stop by again to pick up 2 4 packs to take home. At a cost of $77 it was a bit expensive but when you consider they were 19.5 oz each that's a good deal also factoring in the time it takes to make. That are a treat and not an every day brew. Came in to order dinner and a beer and the snippy girl that took my order pointed to the cold case and said to get a can out of the refrigerator and I asked what was on tap she said oh is that too hard for you? Seriously?! I said no I don't want to come to a brewery and drink out of a can! She then pointed to the four beers that they had on tap none of which were beers that I would like. I said I will just have water. Food came out and the fish was either bad or not cooked properly I took two bites and couldn't eat anymore hands down worst fish tacos I've ever had.
