Sizzling House was a nice surprise and definitely worth checking out if you're already at Mekong Palace. The restaurant has a cute atmosphere, the music wasn't too loud, and they even had the FIFA World Cup on the TVs, which made for a fun place to sit and eat. If you order one of the sizzling plates, it comes with a bowl of miso soup. The miso was really good and didn't have that overly fishy flavor that some places have. We also tried the fried pork dumplings, which were pretty standard potstickers, but they were done well. The sweet and sour dipping sauce had just a tiny bit of spice that made it a little more interesting. The pork soup bao were another good choice, with plenty of filling and really good flavor. I ordered the Wagyu sizzling plate, and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. It comes out on an extremely hot plate, which gives some of the rice a nice crispy texture. Everything was cooked well, and the overall flavor was really good. The service was excellent too. There were two servers taking care of the dining room, and both were friendly, answered our questions, and stayed on top of refilling our water throughout the meal. This was one of the most difficult rating debates I have had in awhile, and the three stars feels low, as I would recommend this to friends and will be back...but there is a nuance to the experience had. First, Sizzling House sits around a plethora of amazing food options in the Mesa Asian District. It is a small eatery and very casual. We started with the dumplings and karage. These were where the rating dropped. I didn't find anything memorable about either... My friend ordered the tokontsu ramen with think noodles. I had a taste, and while I'd order it if wanting ramen, this was what I expect of good ramen. It hit the right notes on taste and the noodle s were cooked well, just nothing that would make me perk up if someone wanted to get ramen. The highlight, which would have made this a debate between 4 and 5 stars, and which I will go back for (already excited!), was the sizzling Angus beef plate with thick udon noodles. This was one of the better dishes I have had of late, and I am glad I got extra beef and opted for the black pepper sauce. The thinly sliced beef with the thick udon noodles was a perfect pairing, and I ate this much faster than I meant to, not leaving any leftovers despite the add ons. Food came out quick. Discovered this while strolling through the Mekong Plaza after visiting the new Miniso!! I love a good ramen and definitely have a few favorite spots around the phoenix area. The servers were patient and kind, my friend and I were having a bit of a yap sesh which prevented us from ordering right away . I went with the Spicy Cajun Chicken Ramen in medium level spice but replaced the chicken with chashu. I could've probably went to the next level because I do love my ramen super spicy but the broth was very flavorful, the egg was perfect and the bowl of ramen was overall very good. We stopped by to try the fun experience of a sizzling plate, reminiscent of the infamous fajita plates at other fast casual restaurants. Service was quick and organized. We ordered a chicken sizzling plate. The food was definitely piping hot and sizzling when it came to us. It was fun to have the different textures to the rice, as some of the rice and chicken at the bottom became a little more crispy from the heat of the plate compared to the food on top. The place was busy, the husband ordered the sizzling plate, chicken with Yakisoba noodles and the house sauce. I ordered the Black garlic ramen. I came here Sunday night and the service was terrible to be honest. I had a bowl of ramen which was decent but I prefer a creamier broth. The dumplings were absolutely delicious. It's a place where you seat yourself, a little robot on wheels will bring food but a human server takes the food off the robot to serve us. They also provide you a decent size bottle of water to serve yourself throughout your meal. I ordered egg rolls, shrimp tempura and the spicy miso ramen and added extra shrimp. Everything was VERY hot so be careful. The shrimp tempura was my favorite, very light but perfectly crunchy. The egg rolls and ramen were okay, I think they both could've used more seasoning. We ordered the Angus Beef with house sauce and the Spicy Chicken Ramen. There are QC codes at the table for ordering. There were four of us, and between us we ordered the Miso ramen, two sizzling plate with beef and rice, and one sizzling plate with beef and soba noodles. Atmosphere - When we arrived, there were a few people there. While there, a few more people arrived. There was a fair amount of tables and chairs in the restaurant. The restaurant was located inside of a shopping center parking lot. Still, the place was easy to find. I didn't visit the restroom. I am not sure if they have a dedicated one. Temperature inside was good. I have been to a handful of places where it's been hot. No patio. No problem since it is usually too hot outside to sit. Food - We had the rice sizzling plate with chicken. The rice on the bottom got burnt because it wasn't stirred. Got to remember to keep stirring it, unless you like your food charred or fire grilled. The hot stone plate is hot and your food comes out sizzling! Service - I saw three employees there. The service here was fine. They let us pick our own seats and sit down. Ordering went well and the food came out a little slow. They did have a cute robot server that plays music as it brings the food to the table. Pretty unique. Parking - The parking lot is shared with other businesses. Can get crowded during peak hours. No parking meters or parking structures. A parking structure with solar panels on top or plants would be nice. Otherwise, no shaded spots available. Future - The fried chicken appetizer was pretty good. My husband got the sizzling wagyu plate, I got the wagyu ramen, and we ordered a kids beef ramen for my son. It's as good as I remembered!!! It was my husband's first time and was blown away! He added shrimp to his plate. His only complaint was that he had to wait to eat because the plate was so hot haha. The kids ramen is huge! It's like a regular ramen without all the extra topping. This is my second time coming here. I wanted to try their ramen this time and I can't complain about any of it. Keep in mind if you get the sizzling plate, it comes with a caution tag in it (caution band around the plate), it even sounds extremely hot.. wait 5-10 minutes before putting anything in your mouth. I was so hungry that I ignored all the signs and burnt the HECK out of my mouth lol.. they even told me it was hot, but it just went in one ear and out the other. So the service was fast and we got sat down quickly. Food also came out incredibly quickly. We got two sizzling plates. One with yakisoba, poke belly, and kimchi. The other was shrimp with udon. Also included in our meals was miso soup. There is a lot of flash to the the place with it's modern feel and decor, plates, and skillet flare. The server will offer to mix your food for you. As for how the food was, everything came out incredible salty. Now I have a pretty high salt tolerance and even I didn't finish my dish. The quality of ingredients and meat seemed fine for what we had, but the salt just made the meal a 0 for me. Broth was very strong garlic flavor of course.. But where was the tonkatsu flavor.. Ummm more like water broth with heavy dose of garlic. The garnish was alright. The pork piece was but on the tough end. I remember the ones from few other places were it's fatty and melt in your mouth. Noodle was nicely done.. Option of thin or thick noodle. Now to the sizzling dish. I wanted ramen but figure I orders the main dish they are known for. Presentation was nice.. Nice hot sizzling skillet and staff offered to mix it for me. Dish did come with miso soup which was not bad. The taste... Well... Very blend. It was not bad but it was like eating typical beef fried rice. If you wanted mixed rice this style I would recommend going to Korean restaurant and ordering dorsot bibim bap. Let's start off by saying the second I opened the door, I heard a sizzling plate and I knew this place was going to be delicious! The staff was friendly and prompt providing us with stainless steel cups (kept our water cold and refreshing!) * We got for starters the spicy garlic edamame (5/5) and the fried bread was delicious and made to order! * Our main course (which was brought to us by the automated server, which was so cute!) consisted of Black garlic Tonkotsu Ramen and the spicy Miso ramen and the flavors were bursting! I'll be honest, this place just wasn't for me. The appetizers were okay. We got the pork belly buns and the takoyaki. The lettuce on the buns overpowered the flavor, but they were fine. The takoyaki was pretty decent, no complaints there and you get a lot of them. The main entree was the issue for me. Got the sizzling plate with wagyu, rice, and house sauce. I don't know what the house sauce was, but it did nothing to add flavor to this dish. There was barely any seasoning, and honestly the hot plate kept it way too hot for too long. So glad I finally checked out this place. It wasn't super busy on Monday around 5:30 so my mom and I stopped by for ramen. My mom got the spicy chicken ramen, so much flavor. I tried a sizzling plate. Our server was really kind. The most popular one is the angus beef. I traded the rice for udon noodles and I think that's going to be my go to always! It was delicious. This place is so delicious and their robot kitty is pretty sweet. Their service is pretty good and the vibe there is super laid back. I love how flavorful all their food is. The black garlic ramen is so savory, the egg is boiled perfectly, every bite is packed with flavor. The Miso Ramen is also a great vegetarian option. The spice level is pretty mild even at medium spice. Their ramen noodles are easily the best I've had in the valley. Their sizzling beef udon noodles are sooo addicting. If you have not been to Sizzling House, you need to try it. No matter what your protein choice, you won't go wong with tender and flavorful meat. You also have the option of udon noodles or rice. We were a party if 5 and it was a team effort by the service staff. Nathan started off by taking our order and others, including the cat robot, brought out the dishes. They were piping hot and the waiters volunteered to mix up the dishes for those who were fearful of the hot plates or making sure the meat was cooked properly. While we were the last ones in the restaurant, the owner was patient and made sure we were well attended. I ordered the Angus beef with udon noodles and added mushrooms.
