Last August we stayed in central Stockholm near the train station at a very good hotel. Motel L is in a neighborhood called Hammersby, which is a bit outside of the central area so we were concerned about the location. It worked out great. Hammersby is a nice, quiet area and the hotel is on the main avenue with many restaurants and an ICA supermarket and pharmacy right next door. The 30 tram stops right outside the front of the hotel and we were able to easily get to all locations and areas of Stockholm using mass transit, or walking about 30 minutes. Motel also has a 25% off deal with an Italian restaurant called Grandi about a 10 minute walk. Grandi was very good and even better with the 25% discount. Motel L is clean and in very good condition. There is ample seating in the lobby area to relax and the breakfast room is also very nice. Breakfast was substantial, fresh, and had many choices. My wife and I had to resist overeating breakfast was so good. The staff kept re-stocking so everything was always available; the bread was so fresh and so good. Another plus is that unlike many hotels, breakfast on weekdays lasted until 10 am and on weekdays until 11 am-perfect for us! The people at the front desk were welcoming and very helpful. I'd like to give a shoutout to the frontdesk people I dealt with-May, Oliver,Alex, Yallen, Reuben, and Naiomi. Also to one of the breakfast people-Hendrik but everyone helping with breakfast was great. Two very minor things to note and be aware of-the hotel doesn't have a guest computer or washer/dryer. Bottom line, would we stay at Motel L again? Absolutely and we will on our next visit to Stockholm. P.S The rooms have lots of outlets and you have to look on the left side of the bed where there's a cubby hole with hangers for clothes. It isn't obvious so you can miss it at first. There's a bar and coffee station in the lobby, the lobby is very inviting.

They have included breakfast each morning that is an amazing spread, as well as an onsite wine bar every night. It's a nice walk through neighborhoods to get to Gamla Stan and Kings Garden areas. The rooms don't have AC but they provide fans which ended up being just right. It was our anniversary and they made a cute little welcome gift to kick off our celebration! As noted by other reviewers, there is a hidden closet near the bathroom (which is also a bit hidden). The door swings out to reveal a hanging closet and a couple of storage drawers). The location of the hotel is perfect because it's very near the waterfront and very close to the old city. The access to restaurants and shops is close enough that you can walk anywhere. The included breakfast buffet was excellent with an egg station that made some of the best omelets I've ever tasted. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel.

It was overall very unpleasant lugging my too heavy bags over the uneven cobblestones with an umbrella occupying one hand. Anyway, Hotel Reisen faces the water, which would have been a wonderful view but I didn't pay for that so instead I got a still cute room facing the alleyway. I've got no complaints; everything was perfect about the room. The hotel has a lovely breakfast with a sort of deviled eggs and little tubes of fish that was included in my stay. Not a ton of food but surprisingly filling. There is a sauna and a cold plunge that requires a swimsuit which I didn't bring. I was tempted to buy a swimsuit I didn't really care for $180 or so but decided to buy lots of ground coffee from the gift shop instead. The gym was a small one room situation. The $200 for the 1hr Swedish massage that I was hoping to change my attitude about Swedish massage didn't change my mind. Overall, super cute. Great location. Would stay again!

This hotel is located in the hipster neighborhood of Södermalm, which is very safe and boasts many cool shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes. It is easy to get to all of the main attractions and other neighborhoods in Stockholm from here as well. Fun fact: this hotel is owned by the famous Swedish music group, ABBA. The rooms are nice and very big for Scandinavia, with huge windows, which is a big plus. Some of the appliances in the rooms are a little dated, but other than that, no complaints. The staff at the hotel is extremely hospitable - they were happy to help us plan a day to the Archipelago, and when we had an issue with our sink, they fixed it immediately and also comped us a bottle of wine, handling it perfectly. Overall, I would definitely recommend it. If you do stay here, I would recommend Dryck Winebar for wine and small bites, as well as Hagabakeri for coffee and pastries. Both are just around the corner from the hotel.

It is everything you think of when you think of luxury, wonderful, comfortable hotel. The hotel itself is luxurious and swanky. When you walk into the lobby, it's bright and vibrant, fun and funky without being weird. Kind of modern but classy. To be honest, we are big fans of the Kimpton Hotel chain from Hilton, which are modeled after European boutique hotels like this one. But this was the real deal. From what I gathered, there are different color themes for the rooms but we happened to land in a purple room (my favorite color). This was likely not intentional but it was a very happy coincidence. I loved our room. The bed was lovely, the linens were comfy, the room itself was well laid-out and I loved our view of the popular little square/park just opposite the hotel. We watched people walk, play with their dogs, children play and snow fall. It was idyllic and just perfect. The staff was always friendly and helpful, happy to play tour guide as well as host. The woman who checked us in was almost overly enthusiastic about giving us recommendations (that's a compliment). In addition to our room itself, there was a self-serve coffee bar on the 4th floor, which made me so so so happy. It was really nice to be able to grab a coffee whenever we liked with no waiting, especially as we fought travel jetlag. Also extremely notable, breakfast is included in your room rate and it was so good that I never wanted to eat anywhere else for breakfast. The buffet was a pretty nice breakfast buffet, and the croissants from a nearby bakery were SO good. SO flaky. And remember we had just come from a week and a half in France! I didn't say it but possibly better than the majority of croissants we we ate in France (and we ate a LOT of croissants in France). And they made small batches of French style scrambled eggs, which just were so good and so much better than most buffet eggs. I seriously just wanted to eat breakfast there and drink coffee. Also notable, there is a small little menu full of other delicious things you can order from the kitchen - also totally included in your room rate and the morning breakfast. The woman who runs the breakfast service (I didn't get her name of course) was wonderful and even remembered our preferences after the first morning. 5 star. My only complaint at all was that our TV remote control was pretty gross. There was a lot of dirt and dust in the cracks (see my picture), which the internal clean freak in me thought was gross. We would stay at the Rival again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.

Although the Victory is in the heart of Gamla Stan it is relatively quiet in the area late at night and early mornings....good sleep was in the cards for us. The breakfast is also free, and is pretty darn good! I highly recommend the Victory is you are open to something traditionally Swedish. Will come back for sure.

We walked from the hotel to the Vasa Museum which was awesome. The hotel was great. We had a suite with a huge bathtub and shower. Who really has time to soak in a bath? Well since we had it available and it was cold out, we took baths. They were great and relaxing. The hotel also had a great restaurant and bar downstairs which was great since we didn't want to have to bundle up to leave the hotel. We had burgers two days in a row for lunch, they were really good. The place itself is beautiful and service was great. We went down two nights for appetizers and drinks at the bar which was great as well. No complaints for the Radisson Blue from us.

The Cafe in the hotel was fantastic and convenient and offered a wonderful breakfast. The staff were also very kind. What we didn't love: apartment 5 was on the first floor and was very very loud. We heard delivery trucks coming in as early as 4:30 in the morning every day. We heard Tour groups walking right by our window every day at all hours of the day. If we opened the windows, the noise was very very loud. There was also a clock from the Stockholm church that rang 24 hours a day every 15 minutes. The bed in the apartment was two small Narrow beds pushed together. Unfortunately the shower did not drain and caused a lot of flooding in the bathroom every time we bathed. Anytime we used the bathroom automatic lights would turn on which would light up the entire apartment because there was glass around the bathroom near the ceiling. There was no way to control this. The lights would stay on for five minutes. There was a smell in the apartment that was similar to kitty litter which we were told was likely from the drains in the sink. Lastly a fire alarm went off one morning time is the fire alarm go off at 4:30am---we didn't hear this initially because we had earplugs on. Once we heard it we called the front desk staff and sadly they didn't answer---prompting us to get dressed and run across the street to notify them. One of the perils of wearing earplugs so you can sleep!! If you are assigned to apartment 5 we recommend ear plugs and a sleep mask over your eyes any time you attempt to sleep, flipflops for the shower as you will be soaked in water on the floor, a candle to freshen up the smell in the unit, and fans to try and remove the smell from the unit. This unit may be ideal for someone hard of hearing or deaf. Enjoy!!

Touted as a "posh hostel," I expected much more. I guess that's what I get for trying to be cheap,…read moreas I only paid $130 for 4 nights. The lobby area was cute, with a nice area to sit and chill by the window. However, the room (I chose the 4 female only option) was kind of bare bones with 2 bunk beds, small 1 seater couch seat, lockers (need to bring your own lock) and a large window. Also, during check in, I had to pay 35 SEK for sheets (one time fee, but still). On top of that, towels were 30 SEK and I couldn't even get 1 the first night because I returned after hours, which was quite early at 8PM. I was pretty upset about that. I've stayed in hostels all throughout Europe and NEVER had to pay for sheets and / or towel, but I later learned this is common in Scandinavia. Location is very central and in the city center. It is walking distance from the train station, shops, bakeries for Fika, restaurants, the park near Royal Palace, Gamla Stan (old town), along with T-Central (and others) metro station. The hostel uses a code system for access to the courtyard to get to the rooms (which changes each day), the room itself, as well as for night entrance. All the codes are listed on a small piece of paper, and is attached to a map of the space. Before entering the main area where all the rooms were, there was a place to put shoes, which I didn't mind doing. One morning I put my boots down for a few seconds and when I got back, they were not in the same spot I left them. The staff was great about this though, as they checked the cameras and located my boots. After that I didn't trust leaving them there and carried them to the room. There was a downstairs common area, which includes a kitchen with free pasta (have to bring your own sauce though), cozy hang out area, and showers. I went down here with one of my roommates and quickly made friends. I ended up chilling here after exploring the city for 2 nights in a row, just chatting with fellow travelers. Definitely a great place to socialize! After around 11PM, we were asked in a very gentle way to keep the noise level to a minimum, which I thought was a considerate gesture for other guests. The place offers a breakfast, which costs 95 SEK. This consists of a berry smoothie (or orange juice) and ham with cheese panini (or mozzarella with tomato), which was pretty tasty. I think it should have also came with coffee. The folks working here were nice and friendly. They even have a way to chat with them after hours on WhatsApp, even though they couldn't help me with the towel situation since I hadn't paid for one. Overall, these were decent accommodations, at an awesome price point, but some improvements can definitely be made.

The rooms are fairly nice, I was in a huge dorm with many beds (I think 12 total) and it was a fairly good experience. There were many other solo travelers my age so it was really easy to meet people and everyone was so friendly. The hostel was very clean which is what I liked most. It is required that you take your shoes off when inside, which helped with the cleanliness and I really respected. The kitchen is also really large for a hostel which was nice to be able to buy groceries and come back to cook them. Overall I had a great experience here, my favorite hostel out of the 6 I stayed at across Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. Would definitely return when in Stockholm again
