So you need to book a time slot ahead of time and you get to skate during your window. Definitely give yourself plenty of extra time to park and get your skates and change to make the most of your time. If you have your own skates bring them- then it's free (you still need a reservation though) but most importantly, their rental skates have been ridden HARD and are pretty rough. That said, it was a fun time and the decorations at the park are beautiful, even in the rain.

We've tried twice, and the wait was extremely long. Beyond that, people save spots in line for their friends an family, so more people are ahead of you than you think. There should be at the very least a time limit for people to be on the ice, similar to how Rosemont does it.

The main reason to come here is to play hockey the ice is always good, the players are fun to compete with (the occasional goon, but its hockey ya gots to have some goons), they have a Gunzo's for sharping/tape/gear etc ,and last If you leave a pile of money on the floor of the locker room it will magically turn into a bucket of tall boys during the game. The reason to stay at Johnny's post game is The Stanley Club. This is the bar that overlooks the rink. The barkeeps are always spot on. The crowd is as you could have guessed hockey players, girlfriends/wife's of hockey players, and friends/fans of hockey. The bar is wood paneled and covered in hockey memorabilia. They are sponsored by Labatt's which is great since Labatt's is hard to find in this city. They also have Rat hockey most days of the week and fitness skates in the morning. If you play or just plain love watching hockey get your ass over to Johnny's IceHouse east or west!

Based on what we saw, the programs here are well managed and the ice is well maintained (though a little rough in patches). There is plenty of parking if you're visiting. The only complaint is that the "so-called" visitor seating is very small and as a visiting parent I was shocked to be asked to move to the "right" section. Of course I didn't, because I was comfortable at center ice so I could see my son play at both ends. Aside from the unfriendly welcome from the opposing team, I think this is a great place to enroll your kids or come in for an open skate!

Oakton offers the same admission fee only their Resident/Non-resident prices are $65/$75 (significantly cheaper). Quality of the ice. The rink isn't even smooth. Never once have I been here and the ice was smooth. Huge gashes in the ice which cause the less experienced skaters to fall more frequently. It's very dangerous actually. I DO NOT recommend this rink if you're a new skater or would like to teach your young ones how to skate. A better option that is the same price, better quality ice and a much safer experience would be Oakton Ice in Park Ridge. It's worth the extra mile honestly.

So freeing! So much more room and it's a fun course. I think the course is almost a half mile long. Beautiful downtown views and it's such a nice course in Maggie Daley Park. Friendly and helpful staff. Lockers available to rent. Refreshments available outside. I have my own skates so it's free if I skate during the first session, and only $5 any other time. I came here last week on my birthday and it was the perfect start to my special day. It brought me so much joy and I can't wait to return.

An amazingly beautiful park along the Chicago Boulevards which linked a series of parks from Palmer…read moreSquare to Hyde Park. Many of the greenbelts have been disrupted by roads, highways, and in one case a prison, yet the heart of the parkway system still endure in these great large city parks. This park is almost pristine. It is truly one of the prettiest parks I have been to in the city - it lacks the build up and major restoration projects you see elsewhere, but something about it is just perfect. But..... There is only one entrance on Garfield Boulevard (55th), and one on the east side of the park. The day I was here the people in the park were nice, and I was able to go for a walk without any trouble. This is a park that reminds me of Humboldt Park in say 1995 when I remember seeing cars abandoned in the park. There were no abandoned cars, but other than the youth events going on in the parks and recreation building, there was not a lot going on - no joggers, etc. It is not that sort of area. My visit was disrupted by dozens of cop cars flying down the Western side of the park (outside the park) at full speed. I was told by a woman who walked past with her kids "there must have been a shooting south of Garfield Boulevard.." before she said "you're safe in here!" I felt safe. This reminded me of my visits to Humboldt Park in 1995 when I was dating a woman who had a friend whose parents had a mansion on the Boulevard which they paid $60,000 for. It was really a mansion. We spent the day walking the then run down paths of Humboldt Park, before our mutual friend's dad said we better spend the rest of the night hanging out in the fenced back yard off the Boulevard. Cities can change, and I would definitely check this park out next time I drive down Garfield Boulevard on my way to midway. Having good parks like this one helps a lot since the kids programs were well attended, well staffed, and supervised as far as I could tell walking past.

Also make sure that you secure your belongings because my daughter's phone pop out of her pocket then hit the floor of the vehicle and then bounced out onto the ground Next we did the ax throw which we're only supposed to get 2,3 throws but the young lady let us continue until we hit the target because we were the only customers over there so she let us get multiple turns which was really cool Lastly was the Mini golf they don't give you a pencil or a piece of paper or to keep score is really freestyle freestyling and people are walking around the course and kinda in the way so don't think of it as a complete game from start to finish you might have to alter courses But I think my favorite part was the Instagram worthy props and photo ops located all around the property to take some really awesome shots group shots in my daughter and I really got some nice photos together

My friends and I went on a Saturday night because they were new in town and to celebrate a…read morebirthday, so we figured this was a fun outing. When buying tickets online, you have to select a time slot, but that feature is completely useless. You can arrive whenever on your ticketed date and stay as long as you'd like. The problem is that on busy nights you face extremely long lines for the attractions and the park is over crowded- especially during COVID! There was no capacity limit set, no one (staff especially) was wearing masks, even though we were outside, social distancing wasn't enforced, and the props (axe, golf clubs and balls, go kart machines) weren't cleaned after each guest. Every attraction we headed to there was a long line, at least a 30 minute wait-- go karts have the longest line. Overall, Neon Summer is a nice concept, but they need better time management and crowd control because it was not enjoyable to wait 30+ minutes in every line, including the bars. If I were to go back it would be on a weekday or in the afternoon. The park is open to kids and adults, and kids can do all of the activities except axe throwing. On the website it states closed toe shoes must be worn, but that wasn't enforced. Staff was friendly and easy to talk to.

This area of the lake front has been developed for public use w/beaches & marina for docking boats. There is an area where boats can be launched into the lake. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go in very far as the drive up was gated and closed.
