If I could give Skate Kids more than 5 Stars, I would!! We had them out for a birthday party for our kids. I thought it would be a fun event and the kids would learn some techniques. That happened, and also so much more because they completely blew those expectations away!! They set a new (probably all-time) high for a successful, fun bday party. Kurtis and Truman showed up on time and WORKED so hard. It was a hot day but that didn't slow them down. They somehow perfected the way to balance professionalism, patience with the kids and a fun, positive attitude all at the same time. The passion that Kurtis has for what he does is glaringly obvious and is infectious. Our kids learned so much, the adults were having fun and entertained, and I just couldn't have asked for more. The icing on the cake was when my daughter woke up the next morning and looked at me with a big grin and repeated Kurtis' "mantra"...."always believe in yourself, right momma!". Priceless!! Doesn't get better than that. We'll definitely be skate kids for life thanks to this amazing experience. Worth every penny and much more! Nothing makes you feel better that when your son or daughter tells you that this is the Best birthday party ever!!!!! That's what we got to hear from my son multiple times after having Kurtis with The Skate Kids help us celebrate his birthday! Kurtis took on 2 boys that liked the idea of Skateboarding but have never tried it & 3 girls who laughed & said they have no interest in trying. 1 hour later we had 5 kids adding Skateboards to their Christmas list & 4 telling me they wanted to have the same birthday party as my son. I grew up Skateboarding & I've coached both of my kids in travel & in rec sports so Kurtis was up against a wall of criticism before he even arrived. Kurtis nailed it!!! It was an absolute joy to watch him teach Skateboarding & build up their confidence in a way that brought me back to my own childhood!!! Kurtis was so patient and so kind with my little guy! He came away from his first skate camp knowing how to do so much more than he did before. Skateboarding has been so near and dear to my families heart since I was a kid and it is so cool to see kurtis teaching future generations to carry on that tradition. My son can be a little hard to teach and he struggles a lot with an "I can't do that" attitude and the way kurtis teaches them to keep trying even when they don't feel like they are capable is just so special and I wouldn't go anywhere else if my other kids had an interest in skateboarding. It was worth so much more than we paid for him to be able to interact with other kids with the same interest at varying levels and to have that one on one interaction with an awesome skateboarder who has been in my community for a long time. We live right next to furnace skate shop which was around when I was little and he got to go in and say he skated with the skate kids and talk about the hardware he won from the manual contest during skate camp. Kurtis is an amazing instructor for my daughter! We now take private lessons from him a few times per month. He is very patient with her, but also is very good about keeping her focused and motivated. She has improved tremendously in the past 4-5 months now that he and a few of his coaches have been teaching her. She enjoys it so much and it keeps her active and builds her confidence. Curtis himself is so great with kids. He is so positive and my daughter loves training with him. I highly recommend skate kids! We had been taking lessons from another skate group. However, my daughter did not like standing in the long lines waiting for her turn. At skate kids, she is constantly busy and active the entire time and is learning at a much faster pace. She very much enjoys the skate kids program over the one that I had her in. Plus, she like the coaches much better. She loves skating and I have been very happy with Curtis and his coaches! Hands down, the best idea I ever had was having The State Kids out for my son's birthday party!!! My son repeated himself over & over stating that this was the best birthday party he's ever had!!! My son & daughter each had a guest & my son was the only one who had a skateboard. Kurtis provided everything the kids needed & an hour later, the other 3 kids added skateboards to their Christmas list. Not only did Kurtis introduce them to the live of Skateboarding but he provided them with the confidence they needed to get out there & rip it up. Skate kids is an awesome program for any level of skater from beginners to advance. Skateboarding can be a very scary sport for some parents to allow there kids to particapte in but with Kurtis there are no worries. Kurtis is a professional skater with the know how to teach kids proper and safe techniques all the time helping kids bulid confidence not only in skating but in everything they strive to do in life. I highly recommend trying out skate kids camp or get a one on one private lesson with Kurtis! He has great patience and makes everyone feel comfortable with what they are doing. Wow! Where do I even start! The skate kids program is A-MAZING!! Coach Kurtis is soo great with the kids and the other coaches are soo helpful, knowledgable and most importantly patient with the kids! I saw such progress in all my skatekids skills on the board and a whole new attitude off the board after just a few lessons! As a father of four I highly reccomend the skatekids program! They teach not only how to skateboard but also self esteem, getting along with others, self motivation and courage to reach within themselves and do what they before thought was impossible! Where do I begin? The skate kids inspires kids creativity while keeping them safe and advancing their skill level in an incredibly difficult sport. Safety is the number one priority. Kurtis is able to teach a beginner to probably even an expert. He's great with kids and I would trust him with my rambunctious 4 year old any day of the week. His assistant coaches are terrific as well. I coach t ball and I have been thanked hundreds of times for being so patient with the kids and I know I could not do what Kurtis does. He motivates, inspires, and creates confidence in these kids. I will definitely be booking a birthday party in the near future. Kurtis is an awesome guy. The way he interacts with the kids and cares about their growth is like nothing I've seen at a sporting camp. To have a guy who has lived his whole life skateboarding teach the kids how to do it... what more can you ask for and the way he attaches life lessons to the classes explaining perseverance and hard work that is sort of an added bonus, because I know from school teachers usually come from a negative mindset telling kids they have to live in this box and not strive for anything bigger than average but to have Kurtis counteract that by telling them they can do anything they want but they will have to work hard and fall over and over but as long as they keep going they can get whatever they set their minds too... that is special and so is Skate Kids read more

Kurtis has been, by far, our favorite skate instructor. My 10 year old son and his friend lived for Kurtis' camps because he gave them such specific and individualized instructions. After years of a school based skate class, my son was able to describe how Kurtis would improve his skills by showing him exactly where he needed to improve. He's patient, soft spoken, fun, and always made sure kids had sunscreen, fruit, and water! All the variety of skate parks was helpful too- we had no idea there were so many. Most memorable moment was when the kids begged him to skate - jump over several stacked skateboards! They loved it !! I would highly recommend taking classes from Skate Kids. read more

The Skate Kids are AWESOME! I highly recommend skate lessons from The Skate Kids. We were fortunate enough to attend their free skate lessons at Alamitos Beach in Long Beach and my 4 year old son is hooked! He was able to interact with all of the couches and each and every one of them were very encouraging and patient with him. He is a pretty cautious kid and 10 minutes into the first lesson he was going down a ramp on his own! They adapted to my sons skill level and were able to teach him so many new skills in a very short time! Skate Kids has been a blessing for my 3 kids (ages 6, 11 & 12) these past several months. Kurtis has such positive energy. His love for skateboarding and willingness to share his passion with others is infectious. I called Kurtis to discuss with him as I wanted to learn how to skate as an adult. Kurtis is a great person and his teaching techniques are amazing. After 4 lessons I was able to do some tricks and felt very confident going to a skatepark. I was even able to skate with my dog, which is complicated, as you need to control your dog as you skate. His teaching techniques will get you to high levels in no time. He also went over the session times as he wanted to see me succeed and it was always fun to skate with him. I can't put into words how amazing this company is!! From the very beginning he was very responsive very detailed, and flexible. What Kurtis does for the kids is more than just skateboarding. Skate kids is probably one of the best places to progress your skating in a little anount of time. Im not saying because i know the owner.
