I love these guys! While there have always been lots of buskers dotted along Queen Street, recently these dancing, singing skeleton puppets have been popping up. And they're a hoot!
As I am sure most people do, I get a bit sick of listening to kids that can't really play instruments and old couples singing duets - they're nothing out of the ordinary as we see them every day and I admit I almost don't even register them anymore. But when walking down Queen Street a month or so ago I heard the undeniable growl of The Remembrants' Mustang Sally and followed the music to a young guy with a dancing skeleton puppet. I'd never seen anything like it and was quite impressed by the whole concept. It was just fun. And I liked the music.
More recently I came across another 'skeleton busker' down near the Viaduct. Again the music drew me in and I watched the show for a few minutes before getting on with my day. While this may not seem like a big deal, for a busker to actually distract me from my mission and make me stop for a while and watch, is pretty unusual.
If you come across one of these quirky little busking shows, take a minute to appreciate it - they're a bit of fun! Plus, ask where they get their puppets and let me know - I want one! read more
