We put on our rain jackets brought a couple of umbrellas and hopped in the car. This site is much easier to reach if you have a vehicle but in Switzerland there is always some form of public transportation somewhat nearby. The path through the gorge is a well made but in the rain can get a little muddy and slippery in spots. My family was all fine in sneakers but hiking shoes would probably be best. The path is carved out into the stone so a lot of the path you stay covered (perfect for a rainy day). The ascent to the top is very gradual so it's a fairly easy walk for most. The waterfalls, whirlpools and rock formations are breathtaking here. Make sure to stop at the cafe. We stopped here after to get some coffee and warm up. We also got a couple of snacks and everything was delicious. Parking is free but there is an admission to see the gorge. 8 CHF for adults and 4 CHF for kids 6-16.

The cost is about 8sf and right now that's about 8 dollars. It includes a towel and shower and changing are access. The indoor pool is warmer and has a bit of a chlorine odor. The outdoor pool was my favorite. The water is so clear and clean, like bottled water. A little brisk at first but don't let that stop you --it's such a pretty swim out here. I was here on a Wednesday late afternoon and the place was mostly empty. No lifeguards, and I suspect that isn't uncommon out here. So happy to get a lap swim in out in Engelberg!

We were in Engelberg for a couple of days and my 14 yo daughter wanted to go paragliding. I had…read morealways wanted to go so what better place to go than in the Alps! I talked to our hotel desk and they called Urs from Freeminds. Even though it was 2pm in the afternoon he was able find time for myself and my two girls (14 and 11yo). Urs and Julio were our guides and were very accomodating. We met them at one of the gondolas and rode to the top where we hiked up a small hill. Julio took my 14yo first. You should have heard her screams of delight as they took flight! Later it was my turn along with my 11yo. Urs took me and Julio took my 11yo. We were both in the air at the same time so I could see her flying which was cool. Sometimes below us and sometimes above us. We all stayed in the air about an hour each. I had a great time with Urs. We flew around one mountain catching the thermals to gain elevation then flew to another mountain where I could see the rugged terrain and high alpine areas. Then we flew over to another mountain where we caught more thermals. I could see another more rugged side of Mr Titlas from this area which was very cool. We then flew back to Engelberg. Urs let me take the controls as we went back! Finally, we did a few tricks right before we landed gently in an open field. What an experience it was! Well worth the money and now my kids have something to talk about for years to come. Thanks Urs and Julio for a world class experience!!!

This is a great day activity. I arrived first thing in the morning so I had plenty of time. The…read morewalk is very easy. If you're looking for 'downhill' I would begin on the east end of the gorge and walk towards the west end. To be clear, it's very minimal incline going from west to east but in case anyone has difficulty walking. The path is well maintained and easy to walk along for any age. When you begin from the west entrance, you first enter the park gift shop and cafe. This is where you pay. The west end begins very enclosed and opens up slowly as you move along the gorge - if you begin at the east entrance, it's much more open and slowly gets more enclosed. Also, the east entrance, the path is much more narrow and opens up as you move along, the opposite for the west entrance. In my experience, it was much more busy on the east end than it was on the west end.
