The food, though, based on our order on a sunny Sunday lunch, didn't set well with us that night. The menu offered more than just fried bar food, but what we got was overly rich and salty. A side of grits was ordered, which we should have sent back; it had been overcooked so long that it had become like a greasy papier-mâché paste. Did you know this is a second location to Eatons beach in Ocala??? They have the same menu! This was our first time at this location, we arrived about noon was seated within 5 min. We were greeted and they have a cute little shop with shirts, hats, shot glasses and baseball caps. Our waitress took a little bit to come see us, it was PACKED for a lunch hour. Almost every seat was taken. We were seated inside but by the water the views were great! After waiting we got wine and water. The water has a funny taste... the wine was good. We waited Another 30 min or so for our waitress to take our order. I had the chicken and waffles and a friend had a pasta dish. I didn't like mine as much as I do at Eatons beach. It was different. Not sure why! My friend did enjoy her pasta dish. We ate and our waitress became more available as time went on. The cost was $40 each. We decided to go to the outdoor bar, it was busy outside too!!! The bartender was nice. We ordered a bottle of wine she poured some and said she could leave it in the cooler. I'm not sure she opened a new bottle but we had plenty. While outside we saw some birds and a gator. The bathroom was clean but the faucets are so close to the edge of the sink it's hard to wash, and only one soap dispenser and one paper towel dispenser worked. We had a decent meal overall, but it wasn't a place that left us wanting to come back. The food was good and portions were generous, especially the seafood dishes. However, the water had an unpleasant taste and the mixed drink from the bar was disappointing. Stopped in after boating on the lakes about 4:30 pm on a Friday and were seated immediately on the back porch overlooking the dockside and water. Our waitress, Kendal, approached us and asked if we wanted beverages. We did and off she went to retrieve them. In a few minutes, she returned and asked if we had any questions about the menus, and after answering them, we ordered our dinners. I asked if they provided bread or rolls to munch on while waiting, and saddly they don't. We could have a hamburger bun, but that did not fit the desire, so off she went to get the kitchen cooking our meals. The food arrived is a reasonable amount of time and all was good. Food pricing is a bit higher than others around the area, but the quantity of food presented was adequate. On 7/9/26 was my 5th time visiting Ski Beach, I usually get the gumbo (which is tasty), but I ventured out and tried the fried shrimp basket with succotash. I drove out to Leesburg to meet a friend for lunch on my most recent visit. My friend arrived ahead of me and put our names on the waiting list. When I arrived the Host explained that they were a little short staffed and were seating in 15 minute increments to help the kitchen keep up with demand. Well, she must have annoyed the heck out of the host because while I stepped away to take a phone call our party of two was seated at the furthest table outside, by the buggy grass, near the swampy water, away from the bar or any servers attention. On the hottest freaking day of the year! Thank goodness for our server, Mimi. She got us some cold drinks quickly and gave us adequate time to peruse the menu. I started with the House Specialty Mighty Tai. delicious and refreshing. Unfortunately, the water tasted ghastly. I threw my glassful into the grass. Fortunately our food did not. My friend got Shrimp and Grits which she said was delicious. I had the Garlic Fries as my main entrée which is on the Starters menu. Delicious and more than enough to take home for later. We are a party.of 4 couples and 1 solo diner, all of whom had visited several times before.and enjoyed their meals, the atmosphere, and the views of the lake. My food at this visit was an unpleasant exception. My meal was not what I ordered. Our waitress was very helpful, but too busy to be attentive after delivering our meals. I ordered the salmon salad that was supposed to come with ranch dressing, croutons and Parmesan cheese. Instead I was served lettuce that tasted & looked like it came from an expired bag, mostly ribs with an orangey color. There was some ranch dressing on it, but worst of all the salad was drenched in Cajun seasoning so strong I couldn't eat it. My mouth was burning. There were no Parmesan cheese or croutons on top as the menu promised. Something clearly went wrong in the kitchen the night of March 12. When the waitress finally appeared near the end of everyone else 's meal, and conveyed to the manager on duty the problems with my meal, he inexplicably said he wasn't going to do anything about it or even come by to talk to me. I think he/she clearly missed the first lesson in customer service. We had to pay for a meal I couldn't eat and I do not plan to ever set foot inside Ski Beach again or recommend it to anyone. read more

My husband and I are from VA. We took my parents and cousins out to dinner. Wrong drink orders, forgot mom's. Didn't write dinner orders and 4 of the 6 came out about 45 minutes after order given. My 87yr father had to wait an additional 30-40 minutes for his chicken and waffles and my cousin had the same wait for her salad. They however dropped off someone else's dinner on our table . Extra beer was dropped off we didn't order. I had chicken strips and onion rings. They gave me 3 onion rings . My hushpuppies were burnt. My mom's friend oysters were on the darker side and my dad could barely cut through his chicken. Needless to say, we will not be back. We had not been in quite a while due to poor service so we decided to give Ski Beach an opportunity to deliver in a positive manner since we would be there before 5 for an early dinner. I'll begin with the positive. The service was very good however ..... the onion rings we ordered as an appetizer were greasy and undercooked for our taste. YMMV so I'll give a pass on those. I ordered the chicken Alfredo blackened or bronzed as they call it. It was dry and over cooked for my liking . Kathy ordered the mahi sandwich. And the total lack of flavor would embarrass McDonald's much less a nicer establishment. The ambiance is very nice sitting outside but at this point I can't see returning for another meal when there are better alternatives. I'll add Happy Hour is a waste when the only things included are cheap beer and house ldrinks. Why not just 1-2.00 off every beverage ? After reading through the reviews. Really enjoyable casual atmosphere with a view! The food was nicely prepared. The issue on this weekend afternoon was lack of help. The sole outside bartender had her hands full making everyone's drinks AND waitressing all of the outdoor tables.
