Ask the Community - Skinny's Lounge

Hey, is the cover free this friday (1/31/2025) before 10pm? I texted them on instagram but no answer yet.

Hi Tekla, thank you for your inquiry about this Friday. Yes that is correct, there is free cover before 10pm for our Friday and Saturday events, including this Friday 1/31/2025. We’re excited to have a great weekend! Cheers!

Hello, Sent a request for a reservation and haven't heard back. Is there anyone we can talk to…

I don't believe you need a reservation, just get there early enough to save the spots you want

Hi! Called and left a message on reservation line but didn't hear back for cost of table /VIP area?

    $150 + 20% gratuity, and 15 drinks included

    Is 18+ or 21+?

    We are 21+.

Hello haven't been there in 4 years is there a cover charge for girls after 10 :)?

Hi Priscilla. We believe in keeping things equal, so as such, it is $5 for every person after 10 pm. Thank you :)

Howdy! Do you offer any type of food?

Hey Ruben, unfortunately we do not offer food, but there's a Doghaus and a Sushi Restraunt right next to us, and on any other evening then Friday and Saturday, you're welcome to enjoy their food while having a drink with us. And on Friday and… Read more

    Do you guys have parking?

We do. There is a lot directly behind the building. If that is full, then there is almost always parking on the side streets or directly in front.

Is there a cover charge? What is the parking situation? We are coming to see Flat Jackson play on Saturday!

Hi Franci! We do have a cover charge, but only on Friday and Saturday, but it's only $5. Also, we have a parking lot for guests located behind the building. There is plenty of street parking in front and on the side streets as well :-)

You guys mentioned getting the air conditioning fixed a couple weeks ago, did you ever get that done? Wanna come back in but that Friday it was really really hot!

YES! Our A.C. is working beautifully. We're cool all night. We know with how hot it's been lately that having a cool place to escape to is imperitive. You can now get out of the heat and enjoy a cocktail on any night comfortably!

What kind of music is played on Sundays? Tonight?

Sundays varies. It's generally live music. Pretty eclectic. We can have Funk one Sunday and classic rock the next. Always worth stopping by and checking it out. May find yourself surprised:-)

On top of that, the STAFF - the folks we met on a Monday (senior citizen hour) night were incredibly kind and attentive. We did stay through the first set of musicians that performed and it was great. Loud, but not loud enough that me and my friend couldn't still talk. Now onto the food. A nice surprise, considering this is a music joint! That bread was solid. The side portions decent - mushrooms and broccoli were fine. The steak was a generous size, cooked appropriately medium rare, and came with a unique side of bone marrow salsa. That was a nice, interesting touch. Was it the BEST food I've ever had? Not exactly, BUT it was the best food as part of a music joint, in the Valley. So the 5 star rating is really for the OVERALL experience.

You throw a birthday in the mix and there's a little pressure to make this the right kind of evening. The vibes were certainly not absent. There was the tastefully low mood lighting, and of course, the tunes of a scattered jazz jam session. We get to our seats and are told the place was designed to heighten and maximize the patrons' listening experience, no matter where they were in the establishment. The menu wasn't overwhelming from a volume standpoint. It screamed a curated adventure through a brand of Americana that knew it had ethnic roots on different continents. That's a cool prospect to dig into but knew we weren't going to order the whole menu. My wife and I were still feeling like we had to get our very first selections right though. More pressure. We started with the Hokkaido Milk Buns (super recommended) and the Wagyu Tartare. I'm such a poor sucker for bakery buns from an Asian grocery store. 99 Ranch has a lot of my money because it. These were perfectly fresh and airy. The sweet butter was a good sidekick, but with the right bread that sits with your soul, you never really need much for it. The tartare did taste as advertised. And more sexy bread in the toast! In this case, the toast was the sweet butter. You didn't need it. You could have spooned the tartare like it was ice cream, but you certainly didn't mind the brioche slices tagging along. There were our mains: Dungeness Crab Campanelle, and the Braised Lamb Pasta. We went back and forth about ordering a side of Roasted Carrots, but you only have one specific birthday to start your mid-thirties, so I opted for it. If you've been reading my reviews, you know I don't go out of my way for seafood. I'll have a bite. I'll be as openminded as a foodie should, but it won't be invited to my cookout. I didn't hate the campanelle. The miso and aji Amarillo peppers gave this a really familiar tuna casserole profile. My wife asked me not to tell anyone that. But it brought me back to my childhood, where even then, I was not crazy about seafood, but I was mature in my thinking enough to know the casserole was going to feed me. If you observed us that night, I might've snuck a couple of forked noodles to taste the roasted almonds and some of the uni residue with the cheesy tones. The lamb pasta was the richest, fullest flavor I've had for pasta in a while. The lamb was abundant and savory and lean, providing such a serious punch when supported by the padano. It was a smidge creamy, and greasy - optimally speaking. It had such a dark and cheesy-bitter personality. The charred green onions probably were in the mix more than I anticipated. Roasted root vegetables are just very satisfying potatoes, at the end of the day. The carrots ate more like fun, herbaceous fries, showered in a vinegar concoction. Loved it. The chumichurri and togarashi spices aligned for a peppery bite. The vinegar did give the carrots a pickled skin so it was helpful for cutting through the brightness of the crab campanelle and the boldness of the braised lamb. Verse took the pressure on the night and gave us food baby diamonds. I'd say we're encouraged to check out more of the supper club scene after our visit. If the bar was set at any place, it was for the sensibility of how the music pairs with the food. The strings and the particular pitter-pat on the drums kept us going. It kept us talking. It kept us eating.

It takes place mostly in their rear patio area and parking lot, but a good number of vendors were also in an adjacent air conditioned event room. They have a very small parking lot, but it was occupied by vendors during this event. Do not park in the parking lots of the adjacent businesses, as we were warned when entering the Tonga Hut that cars get towed regularly. There's plenty of street parking in the nearby neighborhood. Entering from the rear, there is a good sized covered patio with around eight benches. We went inside to check it out and grab a drink. The interior is fairly small with four good sized booths, a lounge area with a large J-shaped couch with several small tables, and around ten seats at the bar. It is dimly lit with some basic tiki décor, and has an old-school feel. They had a fixed cocktail menu for this event which is understandable. We stood in line at the bar for about ten minutes, got our drinks and went out to the patio. The bartender was friendly, and didn't seem flustered by the high volume of patrons. I had the Horned Beast O' The Celtic Sea (Oceanus Hibernicus Irish Malt, Jamacian Rum, House Made Falernum & Orgeat, Peach, Citrus, Dash of Cherry Heering, $13). She had the Leprechaun Grog (Three Rums, Lime, Grapefruit, Honey, Spice, Soda, $14). Both drinks were good, were served in souvenir plastic cups, and were a bargain at $13 to $14. If you ordered a drink containing Oceanus whiskey, the bartender gave you a gold coin and you could exchange it with the Oceanus representative on the patio for a free T-shirt. Durango Tacos was setup near the rear entrance for food. We had four tacos (two carne asada and two veggie), and they were good and reasonably priced. This was the first tiki marketplace we have attended. There were around twenty vendors with a good assortment of art work, tiki mugs, tiki clothing, tiki décor, and other miscellaneous items. I purchased a few nice tiki shirts which were a steal at $20 and $25. The vendors and visitors were all very friendly and in a festive mood. We hung out for about ninety minutes and had a good time. We will return at some point to try their regular cocktail menu and see what it's like on a non-event night.
