He did everything he was charged to do, including selling over $18,000 in advertising in the 3 weeks he was there with minimal training. But, as he was too focused on the community, he was let go with a reason of "it isn't a good fit". My warning to the Summerville community is beware of wolves in sheep's clothing. If you do nothing, the beloved Historical Summerville will be erased.

In the 90's, I wrote 4 screenplays that promptly sat in the drawer with no Hollywood connections, no access to sell my work. Fast forward to 2012 where my idea for a multi-part Fantasy/Horror/Suspense series starts to take shape. I found technology had greatly shifted publishing so that the art of selling a story had drastically changed. People were now being successful in books and music selling their creations directly to a potential audience. After researching a variety of publishers, I chose CreateSpace because of its variety of options and ease of integration with Amazon, their corporate overlord ;) There are a variety of price points and packages to consider. I ordered their book formatting, editing, and Kirkus review services. The service is easu to work with and they answered a myriad of questions along the way. The only hiccups was a phone call scheduling miscommunication at the beginning and minor issues with formatting. Those problems were more than offset by my positive experiences especially in working with my assigned editor Angela. Her understanding of my book and what needed to be adjusted was dead-on and the improvement in my draft after working with her was dramatic.As I work on my second book, i know I think of her comments and hope that I can get her assigned to the second book. CreateSpace now offers matte covers and with my surreal book image it makes the presentation of my book, in printed form, look almost as professional as if it had been printed by a major publisher. Just make sure you have multiple people reread it! Angela and I did not catch all typos and I had to pay another 435 to make minor corrections after the first batch of books were printed. CreateSpace uploaded my manuscript direct to Kindle and everything was fine other than a couple of minor formatting issues which were resolved quickly. I'm very happy with my experience with CreateSpace and highly recommend them if you are an author looking to self-publish. I called early the next day, and spoke to Lisa, who was very helpful and accomodating. She even text me the final image to confirm, and resent me the download of the new image. When I lived in Charleston, this was the only station I listened to when waking up in the morning, to later driving to meet with clients on weekdays. Now I have to suffice with my computer since I am now back in Greenville. I don't have a choice in my car, so I'm forced to listen to the local talk radio show in Greenville which totally SUCKS. When tuning in, you begin with Richard Todd's morning show at 6:00, then it's Neal Boortz at 10:00 and the famous Rocky-D and Donna Darlin' Show at 12:00. Shawn Hannity is on at 3:00 followed by Mark Levin at 6:00. If you're a Liberal, I'd say, steer clear if you don't want to hear the truthful hard facts... And, unless you want to be totally abused by Rocky-D or Mark Levin and are a Liberal, call in! They'd love to hear from you and give you some interesting feedback. ;) Vote for Herman Cain in 2012!

The problem is, it gave me the choice to speak to the station director. I punched that number and it took me to a hold for about 15 seconds and then hung up on me. I called again and pressed the extension for director of programming this time. Again, it put me on hold for about 15 seconds, them hung up. Finally, pressed the number for general voicemail. This time I got a message that said, "we cannot connect you to voicemail." It then promptly hung up again. In the end, I got the hint that they have no interest whatsoever in hearing from anyone in the area. I did end up calling Sinclar Broadcast Group, which owns the station. I spoke with them about the inability to reach anyone at WCIV, or even leave a message. As one of the last generations, age 62, that even watches TV, I want to thank this experience for finally pushing me to tje point of cutting the cord. I watch the internet much more now anyway, and will finally join younger acquainted, who have laughed at my cable bill for years. With 5 televisions, three DVRs and 2 digital adapters, by cutting television and king Internet only, I will cut $250 per month from my budget. Thats a $250 per month raise. I'll take it. Thanks ABC/Disney and especially WCIV. ​​​
