I didnt make a reservation but walked in and was seated immediately. Dim lights and everything had a hint of purple to it. Definitely like the change from what it was before when crazy Cajun was there. Just a chill kick back spot for food and drinks and good music. I ordered catfish strips and some wings. Didnt realize it was happy hour for wings though, or else I would have got more. It did take a bit for the food to come out but it was hot, fresh and cooked to perfection when it did. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Only issue was I didnt understand the tab at first. In a digital world where we dont get to see the actual tab, I had to ask why it was the price it was. She told me tax, but when I got the actual receipt, it was actually because they added gratuity. I just think being transparent about that goes a long way, and I actually tipped 7% on top of the %15 already on there. Other than that, a really good experience and I would definitely go back for more food.

They had 2 of my favorite white wines on the list, great. Until the sweet new server nervously told me they were out of both of them and only had their house Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay available. Out of a lack of choices I ordered a Chardonnay and when I told the server it was so oaky it was undrinkable, she came back to say her manager wouldn't take it off the bill because there was "nothing wrong with it." Ok fine, I see his logic. What I will also say is that mentality as a manager to make a guest pay for something they were unhappy with due to a lack of managing inventory and limited selections, he lost a repeat customer and prompted a negative review. I was a server too for a long time. I know how wine pricing works. It would have cost nothing to help find a drink a guest actually wants. Putting profit over people always results in losing money. It's no wonder there were plenty of tables available there while San Pedro was on a 90 minute wait. I'd say there's a LOT of room for improvement in how it's run. Treat your guests and servers with respect and be generous with your offerings and problem solving. It always comes back ten fold. There's too many good places to eat in Hudson to come back here.

I have honestly never heard of these bands because I am not in the metal scene and was most likely the odd one. I did however meet some very cool people and had some amazing conversations. I got a chance to speak to some band members and a chance to purchase some of the Merch. The merchandise was very good quality in my opinion and priced decently for the work put into creating it. The bands Ulkum, Wilbur, and Lungs were incredible. When people who don't understand metal hear the word metal they think a group of people playing very loud then head banging followed by loud screaming and smashing things. All metal is not like that these bands had harmony and played gracefully as well and some of the parts had a romantic melody to them. The bands were very enthusiastic and I learned a lot from some of them and that it was not only metal music that inspired them to play metal. The sound at the white rock lounge was perfect it was not like going to some places where it's so loud that it will rupture your eardrums and the sound technician they had was right on point with making sure things ran smoothly. The metal people are not as unfriendly are people would think and you should not be afraid of them if you take the time to speak to them then you will learn a lot about travel, adventure and music from them. I had an amazing night and the white rock staff was amazing as well as Steve the owner who was all over the place running his business. It's rare these days to have a hands-on owner running around getting his hands dirty and mingling with the people. I plan to check out another show there and try metal karaoke lol. If you have not been here and you live in the area give it a try and come with an open mind. #stpaul #saintpaul #lowertownstpaul #Lowertown #thewhiterocklounge #twrl #yelp #yelpelitesquad #yelpelitesquad #metalmusic #ülküm #lungs #metal #wilbur #heavymetalmusic

I have been here two times in the last week and lemme tell ya.. this is quite the spot. I do suggest making a reservation because everytime I go here it is popping! What a vibey place, the lights aren't too bright, it gives a hip, fun, light energy and is not too pretentious but has INCREDIBLE FOOD AND DRINKS. Right now, one of their specials is whitefish toast.. if you enjoy fish at all, you need this. The fish is light and fresh, they put fresh dill on top and it is placed on top of some toasted sourdough bread perfectly. The fish is flavorful, a lil earthy and I feel as if there are capers or olives in in the fish mixture, whatever it is is fire! The burrata, beets, and citrus is a nice lovely, fresh, light app, the burrata is perfection with the beets and fresh, juicy citrus, drizzled with some oil and random pieces of garlic mixed in, YUM. I suggest ordering bread on the side with this one! The wings here are a staple and always delish. Crispy, hot, and coated perfectly in a light sweet chili sauce.. they hit the spot everytime. The housemade ranch is a perfect dipper. The other day I tried the chorizo and scallops... oh my goodness gracious.. it was a lil spicy and creamy with the bean puree and the scallops were buttery, light and divine! 10 outta 10 would do again. Finally, got the goat cheesecake, gluten free ginger snap crust with poached pears. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I want this now and in every lifetime! The cheesecake was light, yet decadent, deep, creamy with a light, unassuming flavor. The crust was delicious and the poached pears added that perfect fruit component. I got Liam as my server both times, he was helpful, attentive, had good suggestions when asked questions and didn't interrupt at all, amazing! This is the spot for any occasion!

I will say the music was good, and the bar overall looked clean. I approached the bar and asked for a dirty martini, specified my vodka preference and requested a lesser amount of the brine. Brandy (the bartender), began preparing the cocktail and I knew immediately that she didnt know what she was doing. I tasted a sip of the prepared cocktail and was very disappointed. I asked Brandy if another bartender could prepare the cocktail. Brandy found Dylan. Dylan was excellent. Dylan asked questions about my preference in vodka, how much brine I's like and asked if I wanted a vermouth rinse. Dylan measure the ingredients well and prepared the perfect cocktail. I was so impressed, I continued to order cocktails from Dylan for the remainder of the night and tipped him well. Later in the night, Brandy reapproached me and asked, "You don't trust me to make you a drink?" I explained to Brandy that once I have a bad experience with a bartender or server, I rather try a different server/bartender. It wasn't personal, but I refuse to pay for bad or mediocre service. While Brandy wasn't rude or mean, I believe she could benefit from more training in cocktail crafting and delivering an experience to the customer. I spoke to Hannah who was kind and receptive to my feedback. I would visit again and hope the next time my experience is even better.

I made several visits While…read morein town to celebrate Prince, I stayed at The W and made a few visits to The Living Room. The W was one of the host hotels for the official Prince Celebration 2022 festivities and the official welcome party was held at The Living Room. As to be expected, this party resulted in lots of people who came to dance, drink and to celebrate the 'Purple Yoda from Minnesota'. Surprisingly, this space was an excellent option for the party it has a dance floor area along with a large well-stocked bar which easily accommodated everyone's drink choice. Add to that, they had a few Purple drink specials for the night which were tasty. The bartenders did a great job in processing the nonstop drink orders and the servers were kept very busy throughout the night. When not used for parties, the ambiance is much more laid-back. As the name says, it has more of a 'living room' feel. In addition to the long bar, there are many sections of lounge seating (chars, couches, etc.) which are perfect for unwinding. Even after the party, the bar continued to be well-stocked; so well-stocked that a friend and I made a couple of discoveries while sipping one afternoon. To our surprise, they had a bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle (10 year) along with a bottle of Weller Single Barrel. It's rare to find either at a bar; having both made for an amazing find. My friend and I quickly made it our mission to empty both bottles so we would each have a souvenir from The Living Room (we succeeded). Following the welcome party, the bartenders could have been a bit tired but that was far from the case, they were as energetic and welcoming as they were at the party. If interested in food to go with your adult beverage, they work directly with Manny's Steakhouse (also attached to The W) which means anything from appetizers to a complete steak dinner can be ordered and enjoyed while in The Living Room. On future trips, whether staying at The W or not, I will make a point to stop by The Living Room for an adult beverage or two.
