If you're after some adventure in the CBD then why not try the reverse bungy, Sky Screamer. Located on Victoria Street West, by Auckland's Skytower. This bungy is like a sling shot. Instead of being the one taking the plunge, why not sit down and get shot up into the air. That sounds plausible right? I have done Sky Screamer a couple of times and it freaks me out with excitement every time! I have been both during the day in the light and at night. There isn't one I recommend more than the other, but if I had to pick one then I would say its more exciting to do it at night. You can see all the city lights, and I feel doing it at night seems a bit more spontaneous, therefore more exciting. There is no need to book. Here at the reverse bungy you can just turn up and ask to have a go, if they're free you can get on straight away, if not, the ride itself only takes a few minutes, so there isn't much waiting around at all. Where Sky Screamer is located is on the verge of a massive parking terminal. Or alternatively you can always park elsewhere in the CBD and walk to the Sky Screamer, it's not to far from anywhere in town. read more

For years I have watched in fascination, awe and terror as crazy people strap themselves in to this flying, catapulting seated bungy on Victoria Street. It literally looks like my worst nightmare - being hurtled toward the heavens only to then plummet back toward the earth - not my idea of a good time. But everyone else seems to love it. Many of my friends have willingly signed up to ride this contraption (known as the Sky Screamer - need I say more), and every time they do I think 'maybe this is the time they'll realise it's an awful idea', yet this is never the case. Every person I have ever seen come off this ride has been giddy with delight and adrenaline. They love it. Thus, while I cannot personally recommend the Sky Screamer, the hoards of satisfied, excited customers that buzz around this bungy lead me to suggest it to all adrenaline junkies out there. Regardless of whether you are an Auckland local or a first time tourist to New Zealand, if you like pushing the boundaries and losing your stomach, this is the ride for you! read more

We had seen this attraction for years and never bothered to stop : I can't stand any entertainment that catapults me off the ground. However we brought two kids in to the city - one was dying to have a go on the bungy so we checked it out. $40 each and a minimum of 2 people. Bummer, nobody else was keen to get on board. $40 is way too expensive though. They were not very busy although lots of people were stopping to check it out. If they halved the cost they would make a LOT more money. As a business owner myself I am always gobsmacked at how short-sighted and greedy some people are. If your one of those adrenaline freaks who enjoys being catapulted into the air at over 200 kph in two seconds then you will probably enjoy this thrill ride. I'm one of those people who just vomited in my mouth a little just watching people like you actually do it. I salute you I do. I personally cherish my life. Apparently you get a pretty nice harbour view at the top if you haven't got your eyes screwed up in terror. This centrally located bungy ride, is in the perfect location for other people to be able to watch you while you scream like a girl too. It is pretty good entertainment. The price is $40 per person which is pretty reasonable if you take into consideration how expensive bungy jumps like the Skycity one are. The bungy 'rocket' can sit up to three people at a time, so try and convince your friends to do it too, that way you have a couple of extra hands to squeeze. Meanwhile I'll be watching from below,.. This must be the sweetest place to work. You sit there in this tiny little cubicle all day, using the free wi-fi of the central city, not having to try selling any passes or anything. Because the thing sells itself. What tourist, bored of Auckland's underwhelming inner city night life and with NZ cash burning a hole in their pocket wouldn't want to get strapped into this thing and thrown around? I managed to score a ride on the sky screamer once. I'm not sure how it came about, but me and a friend got bought a ride by someone who must have been desperate for company. I'll admit it, there is a moment of fear when you are actually strapped in looking up at the sky, waiting for it to send you flying. Imagine if the ropes came undone? As we were catapulted into the air, I felt my crappy warehouse slip on shoe come flying off and go hurtling across the road. Hopefully no one got hit, cause it would have been going pretty fast. The ride came to an end, we got off and watched the video. It was fun, but not 40, 60 ? dollars worth of fun. Leave it to the tourists I say. read more
