I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience tonight at SKY Waikiki was easily some of the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant. First, the hostess wasn't even at the front desk when we arrived. We stood there waiting while multiple staff members walked by without acknowledging us. When she finally showed up several minutes later, instead of being welcoming, she immediately had an attitude. Things somehow went downhill from there. At one point the hostess and our server were openly talking about us within earshot, which is incredibly unprofessional and honestly shocking to see in a place that tries to present itself as upscale. Then the food service was a mess. My boyfriend and I received our meals 15 minutes apart, meaning one of us was basically finished before the other even started eating. For a restaurant that charges premium prices, that's unacceptable. Between the disorganized service, the staff talking about customers, and the poorly timed food delivery, this was a genuinely disappointing experience. There are far too many great places in Waikiki to spend your money somewhere that treats guests like this. read more

So here in Hawaii on vacation with my wife and we are brunch aficionados. We found this place and they must've been doing bottomless mimosa brunch for a limited amount of time so we made reservations and made our way to the top floor of The Waikiki Shopping Plaza. Atmosphere/Appearance: Just absolutely gorgeous views of Waikiki and surrounding areas. The DJ had good lively music playing and the vibes were just the best. This is what vacation should be! Service: We had no issues here and we were well taken care of. Food: We're here for the bottomless mimosas and they were cool. They were juicy and we had to keep on asking for less juice. Like, I get it. You don't want to over-serve or give out too much of your product, but do NOT put bottomless on the menu if you can't handle some real drinkers that pull up. Lol. It's probably why they got rid of it. Anyway, the food was decent. We had the shrimp cocktail and they were cool. Could've used more horseradish in the cocktail sauce and the shrimp were a TTTAAADDD bit chewy, but still delicious. My burger was excellent. I had no complaints. It's easy to write-off the food here because of the amazing vibes and views, so just take that with a grain of salt. Value: This place was NOT cheap. I can't even remember the prices of everything, but I feel like we spent $200.00 between the 2 of us for the brunch including tax & tip. Still worth it for a good time. I highly recommend making reservations for SKY Waikiki because it's a popular spot, especially around sunset. We arrived at 4:15pm and the sun was very bright at first--if you don't mind it, you'll be fine--but staying until sunset was totally worth it because the views were beautiful and the live music paired with it was such a vibe. We enjoyed happy hour and I loved the spicy mango margarita, plus they had $5 beers, which was a great deal. There was a bit of miscommunication with our server around 5:00pm when she told us happy hour was over, but I pointed out the menu said it went until 6:00pm and she checked and confirmed we were right. Just a heads-up to check your receipt, as we were accidentally charged for two glasses of wine we didn't order. Food-wise, the fresh oysters were good, though there was some confusion when we asked how to differentiate the Japanese-style ones and they had to bring them back. The octopus was tasty but I wish it had more char, and the honey truffle mascarpone was just okay since the bread was a bit stale. We really enjoyed the ahi poke, ahi nachos, wings, and ribs, but when we ordered oyster shooters at the end, they took a while to arrive and we were told we only had 15 minutes left at our table. I had been hearing people talk about Sky Bar for a while, so when I came back to visit Waikiki, I finally got the chance to see it for myself. First, I want to say that you definitely need to make a reservation, and I highly recommend calling ahead if you want a seat with a view. I made my reservation late, which was a mistake on my part, but the host was so sweet and accommodating. She also had on an amazing outfit that night, which immediately stood out. Originally, I told her we wanted a seat with a view, but once we heard the live talent performing, we decided we wanted to sit on the couches right in front of him instead. I don't know the gentleman's name, but he was absolutely amazing. I would honestly only want to go back when he's there singing. He performed all the songs I love and remixed them so well, while also playing the guitar. He was truly one of a kind. If you ever see him performing there, please don't forget to tip him. The drinks were tasty, and we also had a small bite to eat which we enjoyed. Overall, we had a great time. I will definitely be back and hope to see him performing again. read more

Absolutely loved my experience at SKY Waikiki. From the moment I was seated, everything felt special -- especially the ocean view, which made dining there even more memorable. My server JP was outstanding. He was incredibly attentive, kind, and had such a great personality. He was friendly, offered excellent recommendations, and made sure our food and drinks kept coming in a timely manner without ever feeling rushed. Truly top-tier service. For food, I ordered the hamachi poke, spicy ahi poke with avocado and taro chips, and the Japanese-style oysters, paired with a spicy mangorita -- everything was so fresh and absolutely divine. You can really taste the quality of the seafood, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. Overall, it was such a lovely experience: fresh seafood, beautiful views, and exceptional service. What a great place to celebrate something, or to just hang out with friends. Came here with about 15 friends to celebrate an impromptu birthday and we had a blast. A little of the pricey side, but kinda expect it given its Waikiki and it's perched at the top of a commercial building. You have great views of the night sky in Waikiki, and I can only imagine it would even be more epic right around sunset. Servers are beautiful and friendly. Food is ok, we tried a bunch of stuff. Beautiful rooftop views of Oahu! This is a great place for a date night or a night out with friends. The hawaiian welcome vibes are in the air along with a beautiful view of the city. Visited recently on our first night in Waikiki! The views are gorgeous and I can't even imagine how amazing it would look during sunset. Our server was also great, I feel like his name was JP? He was friendly, fun, and checked in with us just the right amount of times. The view was beautiful and the perfect setting for cocktails and appetizers. We ordered the poke nachos, scallops, and truffle fries and enjoyed all of it. My only feedback would be that I wish the ahi on the nachos was cut into larger pieces, rather than thin/minced - especially in a city with incredible poke options. We also got to try their truffles and cheesecake for dessert. The truffles were rich and decadent - they served a lot but I could only eat 2 at most. The cheesecake was also great! SKY Waikiki is a rooftop bar located on the 18th floor. Make sure to pay close attention as you get close because you may miss the entrance like we did. My husband and I came here on a Wednesday night around 7:30pm. It was not too busy when we arrived and we were seated right away. FOOD & DRINKS | We started off with oyster shooters, which they served with champagne. They were decent. We shared the spicy ahi nachos, which were BOMB. Would need to find a seat on the corner or stand if you'd like to get the full view. The restaurant features a "beer garden" with open seating for those aiming to just get a drink or small appetizers. There is shade provided. The other half is a seating area for those who aim to sit-in and order food. There's also an inside area that, from what I was told, turns into a club later in the evening. The staff was friendly, you can enjoy the breeze you feel in the open-air lounge, and their spicy margorita was tasty. Other posts mention the price ($16 for cocktails) but it is a tourist area and it doesn't deviate much from other spots. I also tried the blue hawaii #2 which tasted like it used too much syrup. I just happen to be pregnant and we came in for our anniversary with a blind expectation for an exciting new adventure--my husband doesn't like seafood and I can't have it, safely. We had the half chicken to share as well as the truffle fries--the flavors were overwhelming. Like they were trying to stand out but it was just too much overall. I must say, the chicken demi glace was a good addition to the plate, though! I make my own demi glaces at home and never thought to try chicken. It was a VERY loud venue for how tight it was. It's been over a year since my first review, so here's my update. We went around a half way through the happy hour. It was raining right before wet got there, so I got a multiple text messages about the reservation confirmation. The happy hour oyster price went up by a dollar per oyster ($3 each)! And the Oyster of the Day happened to be tiny this time...so sad. I finished my half dozen in a few minutes. Sweet Soy Pepper Wings were okay, kind of a heavy side since they were breaded and deep fried. Shiso French Fries still didn't have the shiso flavor but they were good otherwise. The happy hour wine (cab) was generous pour and price ($10) was decent. Mai Tai ($12) was still a bit watery yet not bad at all. The service was decent but not excellent, especially as they got busy. The best thing about this place was the view as usual. However, we didn't get seated on the front side, so the view was partial. Will I be back here again? While there are numerous places to catch the ocean views and a beautiful sunset in Waikiki, this is one of your best options if you want a rooftop view from above. Given that, you should come to expect higher prices for food and drinks and be prepared to wait if you come during a busy hour (or make a reservation just in case!). Came here during Christmas week and met with some friends who just moved here. It was a random day out of the week and we decided to come here for the view, drinks and appetizer. What an amazing spot to take photos and catch up over drinks and pupu's (appetizers). TIP: come here during the week and you will get a nice table with a view. Make sure to check the weather so you are dressed appropriately or drink a lot to keep yourself warm. If you have to use the restroom, they have the code posted out in the front. I believe they change the code daily. PS. please be respectful when using the restroom. Wipe down the sink if you get water on the counter and throw your paper towel in the trash. Taydor the hostess thinks she owns the place and treats guest like peasants. The fact is, I wish the owner was there because I'm sure he would have been more welcoming. I booked this place with the incredible view for Father's Day. I specifically inquired about a seat with a view. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday and Father's Day. Most of the tables with the view were open, we DID NOT get any of them. When I asked why and if we could move, Taydor said "nope, those are for party of 6 and more". Had an attitude with me and walked off. After an hour later as I watch Tadyor ( however her name is spelled) starts sitting party of 3 and 2 at those tables, I start fuming! Wth I spend $600 for dinner for 4 people sitting in the corner when I specifically requested a table with the ocean view. Not okay! We had the best service with the most amazing waitress, ANNA!! She tried to make us understand the situation but, seriously there was nothing to understand. When you have a "upscale" restaurant, you must have a host that is welcoming and friendly to accommodate the guests (especially when reservations were made weeks prior).
