My daughter & I jumped there this morning. It was fun - thrilling, in fact. I did get some whiplash when the chute deployed and the harness really hurt the back of my thighs terribly. I recently had an event in the town of Oak Island and. I figured I would cross something off my bucket list while I had the chance. I was able to book an early morning jump a few days out through their website. Upon arrival to the hanger, I was briefed on the event along with a lot of waivers to sign. I was introduced to my instructor, Tyler, and shortly after we got ready to take to the sky. Perhaps my favorite thing of the whole experience was flying around Oak Island and being able to see all of the beauty. Once we were high enough, we jumped and went straight into the free fall. Everything about the jump was seamless and enjoyable. The entire staff, especially Tyler were incredibly helpful and educated on the entire experience. You can tell when there's a group of people who all have a passion and truly want others to learn. I definitely recommend trying skydiving here as they are all professionals but also know how to make for an incredible experience. read more

We took off to the beach amongst a national crisis. What better a time to test fate? Brooke had no fear in all the days leading up to our jump that I tentatively told her I MIGHT actually do. I was nauseous all day leading up to our scheduled jump time at 3pm. We were called earlier in the day to let us know we might be cancelled due to the clouds. She was disappointed but I was relieved. Not even an hour later, the staff calls to tell us "the clouds have cleared and it's on!". I was scared out of mind. I had fully intended on backing out when we got there but I didn't want Brooke to jump alone. She didn't care, but I knew she would have liked to have someone to share in the experience. Our third jumper ended up not making it on the trip. Like I said, I was nauseous and visibly nervous. I have always wanted to skydive, a definite bucket list item. Though when faced with the opportunity, I had no idea I'd be as scared as I was. Upon arrival I was able to watch a few jumpers land safely, this brought me a little ease. As we were signing in and paying for our jump, the owner noticed how nervous I was. He came to me and gave me a huge hug and I have never felt safer than at that moment. He told me how much experience my tandem partner would have, he told me the things I needed to hear to start visualizing that I could actually have fun. I hadn't really thought of that! He matched me with a jumping partner that fit my level of attention needed. He paired Brooke with someone who allowed her to enjoy every minute. It was perfect. Chris and Thomas took amazing care of us! Thomas made me feel comfortable and told me exactly what to expect and what to do if I was unable to breathe. He walked me through every step and made sure I understood what to do. After he told me he had over 5,000 jumps I was certainly relieved to have him there! The vibe on the plane was relaxed and light. There were many jokes exchanged and it made for a very enjoyable time leading up to the jump. I've never been so scared in my life but I knew Thomas wouldn't let me try to back out and miss this opportunity. We had a few single jumpers leave the plane first and then my turn was next. Thomas confidently took me to the door of the plane, just as he said he would. The wind was already taking my breathe away. When we jumped out I couldn't breathe but I remembered what Thomas told me. He said if it takes your breathe away, forcefully let the air out and then a deep breathe again. By the time we were out of the free fall, I had gained my ability to breath again. Then the canopy opened and everything went silent. Thomas made sure I was ok. He knew I didn't want to get crazy, meanwhile my friend was out there doing loopty loos like a maniac and I knew she was having a great time. The coast down to the ground was absolutely stunning. We had a birds eye view of Bald Head Island. It was a sight to be seen! This was an unforgettable experience and it was the staff that made it amazing. If you are looking for a place to take you up and down safely they will suffice. If you you want an enjoyable experience, go anywhere else. You are a $ to them and their instructors as you are just along for the ride. Me and my son unfortunately choose them for a memorable experience and instead got an expensive experience we want to forget. The extra charge for a video is a joke. This was my second tandem so I have something to compare it to. When I reached out to them to let them know of my experience, it fell on deaf ears with "Saturdays are a busy day" and "we could do better". Apparently they forgot or do not care about customer satisfaction. I know you can't please everyone, but how about make an attempt. Skydiving is supposed to be exciting, fun and memorable; do yourself a favor and go somewhere else so that it will be exactly that. read more

On Friday May 21st, my family - four people - all participated in tandem skydiving with Tyler, Chris, and Thomas as our instructors. We did it in celebration of my 50th birthday. I was TERRIFIED but Tyler recognized my fear and did his best to make me comfortable with the activity. My oldest son (22 years old) and husband (58 years old) went up first with Tyler and Chris. The desk person announced when they were 2 minutes out and we could see them right above our head and watched them come in and land. Both my husband and oldest son had HUGE smiles on their faces and immediately said "when can we do this again". My younger son (20 year old) and I were on the second flight. We were both nervous but Tyler guided me out of the plane and the next thing I knew I was airborne. SCARY and THRILLING. I could see me younger son at a distance with his parachute. We both landed lightly on the lovely planet earth. It is both off of our bucket lists....and we can always say that "I have "jumped" out of a plane". read more

Hands down the most amazing experience of my life. This was my first time jumping and I did a tandem with Chris. I HIGHLY recommend asking for him if you're planning to jump! From the moment I got there until we landed, he helped calm my nerves, answer any questions, and walked me through all of the safety and gear. I'm eighteen and this was my first time going skydiving. I have a major fear of falling, but I've always wanted to go. The ride up there was beautiful. I was really nervous about what would happen when the door opened. Everything went so fast, and it was the greatest experience of my life. I would definitely go again. The best part was free falling. It doesn't feel like falling, more like floating. They let you steer the parachute for a little bit as well. The staff was super nice. If you just want to watch the people skydiving, there is a great viewing area right beside the landing strip. Great photo opportunity. read more

I did my first skydive a couple of weeks ago for my birthday, and OMG! it was so fricken AMAZING! I was really excited but scared and our instructors, Laura and Bob, really went all out to make us feel comfortable. The plane was TINY and kinda scary, but the view was incredible- you could see down the coast to Myrtle Beach. The scariest moment was sitting on the edge of the door, but once we went, it felt like total freedom. When the parachute opened it was so quiet- like we were just floating and then we landed right next to the runway- very soft. It was SO NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING, but in a really, really good way. I can't wait to go again! If you've ever thought about it, all I can tell you is ya gotta DO IT!!! read more

My husband and I made an appointment back in October of 2012 to sky dive at coastal Carolina for our 5 year wedding anniversary and due to the weight restrictions I emailed Donna Childress and Ashley lasitis to discuss this as the website said to email them if you were over 220lbs. My husband is 6'4" and 270lbs so I emailed them and as quoted directly from the email, "you guys are more than welcome to come out and jump on your anniversary. There will be a $30 charge for anyone over 220 lbs simply for the wear and tear our on our equipment." Therefore, I proceeded to book the appt 5 months in advance. However, much to our surprise... After 4 hours of driving and we stayed down in Wilmington the night before because our appt was at 10am. We got there just before our appt and from the time we walked up everyone was rude and very disrespectful. One of the instructors told the girl checking us in to put my husband on the scale because he was definitely over the weight limit. (which was discussed prior to us arriving.. This was no surprise!) we had friends with us that stayed out in the main area while we watched a video and filled out paperwork. Of course, at this point we were so excited... Just to hear," unfortunately there is no one here that can handle someone your size.. So we cannot let you jump today" I told her I had discussed this through email and we were happy to pay the fee. She said I'm sorry but we cannot let him jump but your can. Of course I was not jumping on our anniversary without him so we left. Our friends informed us of the conversations that were taking place between the very unprofessional instructors while we we're filling out our paperwork and how no one wanted to take him due to his size. I was very upset with the way this was handled and how unprofessional everyone was from the time we walked in. I was even more disappointed at the fact this was suppose to be our celebration of 5 years of marriage and it ended abruptly due topoor planning on their part. I will not be going back here and do not recommend them to anyone. read more
