PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE. You will wait all day, even though you have a reservation - and by the time the sun sets, they will just tell you to reschedule. We got cussed out after asking for a refund - and about 40 people were left hanging for rescheduling. Not only that, but people who had appointments at 1030am ended up going at 630 in the evening - who does that? AWFUL!! You will not get a refund, and the manager will curse at you and threaten to call the police if you press it. I wish I could give it ZERO STARS if I could! We drove three hours to get there, and when mentioning it to Heather, she responded with, "How do I know you drove three hours to get here?" What kind a response it that?! At one point she actually screamed, "You mother******* me" and "I told you f***ing times to get out of here!" I'm filing a BBB complaint. It makes me angry to know how many people get ripped off because they don't have the luxury to go back two or three times to jump, even though they made a reservation. read more

I got the Groupon for my girlfriends birthday and was completely embarrased about the 7hrs it took us to get in the sky, the complete disregard for customer service and communication, and the horrible unprofessionalism by the support staff. The girl at the front desk was annoyed the whole time and would never give a straight answer. The other girl driving the truck was cussing up a storm at the other customers in front of customers. I've never seen such a terribly run business. I could completely reorganize this place after watching the choas for 30min. They didn't even allow us to go up in the same trip. They separated my girlfriend and I and when I asked if we could be together the girl behind the desk refused. Happy Birthday! This place sucks ass! They scheduled us for 4pm and had 20 people waiting before us since 12pm, we waited till 6:30 pm and then they are like it's too late you can't go! Like wtf!! We drove 3 hours to get here and they are so beating around the bush the whole fucking time!!! Why would you schedule someone for a time you know isn't possible !! They ruined our day, wasted our time and now we aren't sure if groupon will refund our vouchers!!! Oh and their safety instructions is just a 10 minute video of people shouting and then a stonned guy says "oh this shit is a piece of cake! All u do is open your arms out and place your legs like bananas" seriously!! I'm gonna jump off 10000ft and that's all safety instructions u have for me. My friend's "appointment" was at 9:00 AM and it's now 12:49 PM and she has not jumped yet. As the previous reviewer stated, people who arrived after us got to jump ahead of her. The last time she came to jump they waited for hours and then there was a storm and they did not jump. Her friends that came with this time, it's their THIRD visit to this place and they have yet to jump. The staff does not communicate with the people waiting to let them know why it's taking so long and there is no where comfortable to go and wait to watch or jump. My suggestion if you come is pack a cooler for drinks and food, bring chairs and possibly an umbrella for shade. If you do that then perhaps the hours of waiting for an amazing experience won't be too bad. read more

Our experience was just as most stated below but then some! We called on the way to add two more people to our slot and they said no problem but then we never got to go up and had not even added the two people that were interested in joining in. We got cussed out something terrible for asking for our money back and laughed at. The owner was full of ready made answers that were far from the truth and the other employees used some of the same lines. The place is a run down barn with a dirt air strip in a field. All of the people live there in trailers and all appear to have tattoos that would have been made in a state ran facility. There was alcohol around and funny smells coming from the trailers. They even sold us a video package even though they obviously knew we were not going up. One of their instructors was injured that day, according to her. So, we were actually to get out of there alive and that's only because we didn't go up! If you can withstand an assault of cussing, lies and threats of police being called in, you will be able to get some of your money back, though... Plus, don't worry, she will not call the police because those are the last people they want poking around that place. Just be patient, realize you are in a bad situation, get what you can and get out of there. Don't waste your weekend thinking you will go up, especially if your appointment is after 11 and unless you are willing to wait 8 hours. We are pursuing the refund of the rest of our money through other channels. read more

We were scheduled to jump at noon and did not jump until nearly 6pm. I jumped with my sister on September 15th and we both paid for videos. As you can see, it is now November 5th and we have yet to receive the product we have paid for and no one has returned our phone calls or emails. Go somewhere else. read more

This place is Horrible!!! STAY AWAY. The staff is unprofessional, rude and unorganized. We had to drive there three times before we could jump, and a few of our friends couldn't even jump on their third visit. for our 4pm appointment, we jumped at 8.30 pm. After us, they did not allow any more jumps because they had a parachute accident - SCARY. I would never come to this place again. Very unprofessional and chaotic - seems like they dnt know what they are doing - how hard is it to stick to a schedule? EVERYONE who makes an appointment with them, waits and eventually reschedules. So save your Groupon money and look for other skydiving places, cuz this one is just NOT worth it!!!! I give this place zero star rating. read more

Do not go here! We had a reservation for last Saturday at 4 PM. When we arrived, we were told by some of those waiting that they had been there since 11 AM and had not jumped yet. We asked at the desk how long it would be before we would be able to jump, and they could not answer. They had a list of about 30 people in front of us, and said they had 6 people jump in the previous hour. That means 5 hours of waiting, and the sun would set long before that. We were told that the best time to schedule was at 7:30 AM. Since we live 2 hours away, that is not going to happen. We are trying to get a refund. read more

TURN AND RUN FROM THIS PLACE. I would give 0 stars if I could. First and foremost we were supposed to jump from a place called Skydive Lake Wawasee but we were moved to this place instead. We were scheduled at 1pm, my family traveled from 3-4 hours each from various places to meet here and jump. After being given the run around for multiple hours, continually being told we would be jumping soon, seemingly not random "health" issues from the staff/pilot which other reviewers have commented on, and in general no communication we were informed at 5:30 that only two more groups would be able to go and we all had to plead our case as to who would be the 6 or so people to go. Stories began flooding in from people about having been told to reschedule multiple times before etc. The co-owner, Heather, I believe was her name, had apparently done this many times before as she had a canned cookie cutter response for every persons complaint. Saying people only right bad reviews online but never good, for instance. Now we know why this place has so many bad reviews(wish I had read them before we went). She refused a refund or discounted rate and offered no help at all. Sadly it was a long drive all to just sit in a field and wait to make another long drive home. Thankfully we purchased this through LivingSocial and they were able to refund us. In conclusion, this place is a total scam. Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT even consider this place. read more

Paid $109 but never received the video package. A cameraman jumped with us, and they said it'd be a few weeks. I've called multiple times, but they are totally unresponsive. Filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau, they never addressed it. In fairness, the jump itself was decently conducted and I enjoyed it. This place was absolutely terrible. First off, I paid $165 for a student ticket around noon on a Saturday when we got there. Waited an hour and we went and watched the 10 minute safety video. Sat around for another hour and a half waiting to jump and the guy calls me over and asks me how much I weigh....I said I weighed 229 this morning. They put me on their scale and it says 240 and they tell me I am too heavy to go or I can go half way up and just pull the shoot. I asked if I would get a discount if I only went half way up and they said we can see what we can do....(which was nothing). So 4:30 came around and they told us all to go eat for an hour because weather was coming in, and came back and they told us to reschedule. The group I was with went back on a day that I couldnt...(meanwhile they had already told me I was too heavy to jump). I called a few weeks after and have since called 3 or 4 times explaining to them that I paid, was never questioned about my weight, and then they told me I couldnt go because I was too heavy after my money was in their hands. The woman who answered everytime right away would always just say nope, no, nope.....The manager (don't know the name) actually took time to look into it but yet never got back to me...go figure. I have argued a few times explaining and havent heard back or gotten in contact with them for a few months. I am still going to keep contacting them. DON'T GO HERE. read more

At the end of Sept 2012, our scheduled jump time was 2:00pm. Stood around doing nothing until 5:45pm or so and finally got to jump! The jump was the ONLY thing that went well. I paid $109 for my jump to be filmed along with another person in my group. We were told our DVD's would arrive 2 weeks later. More like 3 or 4 months. I emailed several times with poor excuses on why our DVD's were not done/started and ended up filing BBB report. Finally after some persistence we received our DVD's. It's a good thing it was my first jump and I was happy just to have it at that point because it was not worth $109. The editing is pretty sad for $109. Overall, if you have never jumped, I suggest finding somewhere to do it, it is amazing.. I would suggest waiting until the reviews of SGL improve before considering them. The other reviews on here are spot on to what we experienced. Also search them on Facebook to see other comments and the BBB. I hope Skydive Great Lakes looks at the areas they are weak in and works to greatly improve them.. start with customer service! read more

The other reviews of this place describes EXACTLY what my experience was. We picked this place for skydiving because of the Groupon they offered, made our 2pm Saturday reservation without problems. On the day of diving we drove 3hrs in from Chicago and showed up about 15min early, to my surprise there were at least 30 people hanging around since our appointment was supposed to be the last of the day. We checked in with the frontdesk, and were told there would be a 1.5hrs delay, which we had no problems with. Two ladies overheard my conversation and jokingly said they were told 1.5hrs delay 1.5hrs ago, which I laughed off as a joke but I later found out was 1005 true. So we hung around the picnic tables for the next 1.5hrs, and during this time I saw this plane sitting right by the hanger and didn't see any parachutes in the sky. I assumed they have a 2nd plane out at a further place no visible from the hanger. Later I found out that is not the case, the plane sitting in the field is the ONLY plane they have and it needs to cool down for an hour for the whole 20min that it is in the sky!!! Can you imagine getting on the plane knowing it runs close to overheating every time it goes up? I guess wearing a parachute makes even more sense now. So 1.5hrs later we checked back with the frontdesk lady, and now she is pissed at everybody who comes to "bother" her and telling everyone they have no idea when anyone will get to jump. During this whole time she was arguing with the pilot telling him to just get people in the sky while he said the plane needed to cool down. She told me to check back in 2hrs to see where we are, so we drove into town where we struggled to find a place to entertain us for 2hrs. So 2.5hrs later at 6pm we came back we saw the 2 ladies we met earlier getting strapped on, which now I found out their appointment was at noon, a 6hrs delay. We checked with the frontdesk lady, and after a whole 5hrs wait she told us we were not likely to get to skydive that day because the sun is setting, and would have to reschedule. I told her I came in from Chicago, drove 3hrs to get there, and now i have to drive 3hrs back home, another 3hrs to come again and another 3hrs home? To which she said yes and there would not be a refund. We got our refund from Groupon. This place is a complete failure from organization to personal level, down to the essential safety equipment. What made her think our wait would be 1.5hrs when the 10am appointment just got on as we arrived at 2pm? It just shows a complete disregard of people's time, not to mention these are their paying customers. The safety and quality of their equipment is questionable as well, in a business where safety is absolutely the #1 priority. Worst experience of my life!! Appointment was for 12 and never got to go that day (waited around until 7pm when we finally were told that it looks like we wouldn't get to jump today), so we signed up for 730am the next day and were the first to go and didn't leave until 11am. We got there at 7am and there was only one person working for the entire place, people started to show up around 8:30-9 ish. Huge wait and super unorganized. While we were there we got the awesome luck to watch a tandem skydivers parachute not open properly making them use the back up. It was terrible, the staff was so rude and all of them kept talking about how hungover they all were which made me feel really awesome. They also wouldn't give anyone their refunds ever. One person wanted a refund for a video that they never got because they never got to dive and they wouldn't give it to them. Please save yourself so much trouble and never come here. You will not have a good time and your safety is in their hands!!!!! read more

Awful! Ridiculous! Totally unprofessional. Their scheduling totally sucks. When you call them, they say come over and then when you get there they make you wait like hell. We have made 3 unsuccessful trips to the place. Every time they have made us wait and then rescheduled. One time they made us wait of 7 hours and then at the end of the day they said we cannot do any more! Safety is also a concern as we saw one of the parachutes did not open and it flew away. They had to open the emergency parachute! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! ITS GATEWAY TO HELL! read more

Oh man, where to begin... I was scheduled to jump on Sept 23 at 9am. I was with a group of 7, myself included. We arrived 30 minutes, as instructed. We filled out paperwork, and waited about 45 minutes for the instructioanl video. At this time, there were about 20 people there total. After much recommendation, 2 of us in the group (myself included) decided to get the video and still photos for $109.00. At this point this wind started to pick up, but they had run 3 groups up, however, they put people up who had arrived after our group, split our group up and said it was because so many people in our group were getting video (2 of the 7, mind you). By 1 pm, 3 people in our group had jumped. At 2 pm, there were about 80 people there waiting to jump. During this time period of about 1030 am until 2 pm, no explanation was gave about the delay nor was any time table given. At 3 pm, they gathered people and said we could go get food or drinks, etc, and they thought they would be up and running in about an hour. We came back around 4. At that time, they decided to run a group of people (1 of the ppl from my group was in that group of 4 that were jumping that round). They then delayed again. Instructors started refusing to do jumps, so they had to wait for other people to get there. Around 6 pm, they put up a list of people who would be jumping. Noone in our group was on that list.....We were the earliest schedulded jumpers. We said somehting to Heather, she ignored us. We had to conintue talking to her, eventhough she had turned her back and completely ignored us. Finally, they re-did the jump schedules and had us spread out on the next 4 jumps.I jumped about 640pm. Again, I got there at 830am (from Chicago, no less), and jump at 640pm. After the jump I was told there was no editor there that day, and we would receive the stills and video in the mail in about 2-21/2 weeks. NOPE. It is now December 10, and we have not received anything. I called about 4 weeks after the jump and was told it was being edited that day and would be sent out the following. Another 2 weeks passed, nothing. We emailed the business, and Nick responded, saying he would have them sent out right away. Again, nothing. He has since stopped responding. I see there are MULTIPLE pepople this has happened to after checking their facebook page. I reported them to BBB, PROskydiving, and filed a police report. I highly doubt they will be open for business again in Goshen. read more

I scheduled my dive twice in 2012, but because of bad weather it was cancelled. At the time of the first scheduled dive I paid cash for two of us to dive tandem with handcams ~$400. We signed all the release forms and stood around for 4-5 hours waiting for the weather to clear. We had to reschedule. The second time I called before we went to Goshen [2 hrs] and they said the weather wasn't good that day either. I called late in the 2012 season to get some sort of receipt because they don't give receipts at the time you pay. I received an email from Heather for the 2013 season for "two tandems with handcams." So far in 2013, I've left three voicemail messages with no response. I'm pissed and I have a feeling I'm out $400. read more

I went skydiving here last weekend. I loved the jump and I definitely recommend skydiving... just DO NOT do it here. This was my first skydive and I made a reservation at 11am. I ended up getting to jump at 7pm. Yes, I waited 8 HOURS. The people there are very rude and unprofessional. When we would ask when we would get to skydive, they kept telling us "another hour or so." Well this persisted all day long. They overbooked, and roughly 40 people that showed up with reservations did not get to go skydiving. What's worse is that they DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS. They offer to reschedule you, but who wants to come back to a place like this? Some people had driven from New York and couldn't come back another day. Other people had to get a hotel. It was honestly the worst customer service I have experienced in my life. If you want to go skydiving, go somewhere else. I saved about $180 on a skydive+pictures package for two people by purchasing a Groupon deal. I would have rather paid more money and gone somewhere else that actually knows how to run a business. I feel awful for the people that didn't get to go skydiving that day, but take it from someone that did get to go: DON'T COME HERE. I'm serious. You will wish you hadn't. read more

I made a reservation for 2 friends and was told I would get my security deposits back if something came up and I cancelled far enough in advance. After hearing my friend's awful experience here (She and two friends used Groupons, drove 2 hours to get there, and then were told they would have to wait for at least 6 hours if not until the next day, they contacted Groupon and go their money back), I read some other reviews and decided to cancel my reservation. When I called, the owner, Heather, told me she would not give me my security deposits back and whoever told me that did not know what they were talking about. I asked if the website clearly stated this and she said she "thought so" after looking all over the site, I could not find anything that even stated you needed a security deposit, let alone a non-refundable one. She was so unprofessional and I've never been so upset. So needless to say I just lost out on $100. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Go to some place that is reputible and will not screw you over. read more

Everyone complaining on this forum must not understand that nothing is perfect in the world of skydiving. I have never jumped until this past Friday, but went in to it understanding that plane maintenance, weather, and various other factors can affect your experience. We were smart and contacted them prior to scheduling. We were told honestly that weekends are very busy, and you should expect to be there for 4-6 hours. That being said, we booked our jump for a Friday afternoon. They told us that weekdays are much less busy and we could be in and out within 2 hours or so. They were right. We went over there Friday afternoon. We signed paperwork, listened to their quick instructions on what to do, got into our harnesses, and waited for about 20 minutes for the plane to get back from a run they were doing at another airport for some old group of veterans. The plane pulled in, we hopped on, and up we went. The experience itself was unbelievable! I can't express enough how everyone should do this at least once in their life. It was the most intense and exciting thing I have ever done (which I think is to be expected). We enjoyed ourselves so much, we can't wait to go back and do it again.
