I can't blame the weather for why I didn't have an outstanding time at SkyHigh. But I must say that upon arrival, the sun was shining and view was spectacular. Then after lunch, rain clouds rolled in and everything was un-seeable. We had a window table reserved for our lunch at SkyHigh. The window view was nice and allowed us to take in as much of the scenery as possible. Lunch was good, I had a duck entree, my partner had the steak, and we both ordered tasty desserts. After lunch we did the maze, which was $6, and we won a "special prize" for completing it. The maze was nothing to exclaim over, if anything, it was just a good photo opt. There are also gardens to stroll around in. You can easily spend a few hours here. It was a nice adventure overall to SkyHigh, just be weary of the temps and weather. Mount Dandenong can get pretty cold and you don't want to get rained out so you aren't able to see anything. Now there is a gate fee of $5 per car, but after eating, we received a complimentary gate entry card for our next visit. So because their tagline is "Spectacular by Day, Stunning by Night," we feel compelled to use the comp card to see the evening into night time view.

The Skyhigh Licensed Bistro/Restaurant is a really nice place to grab a meal. There is the option of entering either a buffet area downstairs or make a booking for the restaurant up top. There visitors can overlook the view out of long paneled glass windows and this is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The prices are reasonable considering how generous the servings are. Just a hint, don't order the delicious chips if you are getting a main - eating them both is impossible! (The chips are to die for though so it's a pretty tough decision.) The service in the restaurant is very friendly however they often don't have enough staff. The person serving is always really nice though so you tend to feel more compassionate than annoyed when it takes a bit longer for your drinks to arrive. Oh, that's another thing - the lemon lime bitters here are divine! Vegetarian meals are great here too - think massive pizzas, pastas and burgers. There is always a specials board that offers good deals. When you first walk in to go to the restaurant there is also a fridge stocking ice creams and frozen yoghurts as well as a counter offering tea and coffee and snacks like muffins. There is something for everyone.

Not worth going unless you're already in the area. Views are OK. Maze costs extra $6 per adult. Cafe is touristy and basic.

We signed in and were shown to our private bath area that had a small change room, and a large spa with a small garden on the edges and tables and chairs. Quiet music was played and the spa has a bubble machine if you like that but it was just soothing and relaxing. The bathrooms are shared with the spa next to you but are clean and easily accessible. For the price you pay, it is relaxing however a bit pricey for me and I wouldn't go very often. It has a complete different feel than the Penninsula Hot Springs such as no kids running around and is very exclusive. They do other packages such as dinner and accommodation however be prepared to leave a big hole in your wallet!

Driving up to this place you wouldn't think it existed! Located high on the mountains through off road tracks! You turn the corner in and BAM you see this beautiful bamboo gate and it already feels like japan! We went here for a massage treatment! As we walked through the entrance we were greeted by a host who new my name before introduction (they new my booking remembers my name and had everything ready for the time of arrival)!! We were seated in the dining/bar area to fill out some forms with a nice green tea to enjoy whilst sitting on a lovely long couch with a view of their outside garden and decor! We were then shown to the massage room, a hut with two massage tables overlooking an amazing water fountain! Whistle getting the massage with beautiful aroma door left slightly open to hear the treakling of the outside water fountain! Massage was great, they made sure it was good the whole way through! After the massage shown back to dinning room To have some more green tea and green tea cake to relax and recoup before our journey home. Service was brilliant. Yes it is a little bit pricey but it was worth every cent :-) loved it and will be back to try out the mineral spas and the authentic Japanese hut for accommodation!

They have four self-contained cottages available for hire - the Candelight Cottage, Cottage in the Village, Cottage in the Forest and Clare Cottage. All of them are close to Sassafras and offer open fireplaces and cosy quaint living spaces. I stayed in the Cottage in the Forest for one night in early March and found it to be absolute bliss. Tucked away on an acre of forested land, the open plan cottage features a king-size bed that overlooks a floor to ceiling window through which is a gorgeous view of the forest. The bathroom has a two-person spa bath and another large window overlooking the trees. There were a reasonably good selection of books and DVD's provided, I remember watching "Meet the Parents" snuggled up on the comfy couch in front of the warm fire. The owners are really kind people and make your stay comfortable by providing breakfast provisions - they even stocked up the fridge with vegetarian delights, as my companion didn't eat meat. I was really surprised and appreciative of this. Pricing is quite high but the place is amazing and definitely worth a visit. For Cottage in the Forest and Twilight Cottage it is $245 per couple per night Monday-Thursday and on weekends it is $599 for two nights. Clare Cottage is $230 per couple per night Monday-Thursday and $570 for a two-night weekend. Candlelight Cottage is $260 per couple per night Monday-Thursday and $630 for a two night weekends. They often have deals and special offers so make sure to check out their website ahead of time.

I initially booked this place through Expedia. I was searching for Saturday nights, but it showed me a Friday night, which I booked by mistake. As I really only wanted the Saturday night (for a wedding) I emailed Arnica Views and got a reply fairly quickly. The lady advised that she was 'feeling generous' and would shift it over to the Saturday night, if I'd ring her and pay up front with my credit card. I rang her immediately and it was all locked in. We arrived on the Saturday night, and I found a gentleman who asked for my name. When provided with same, he said 'uh, shouldn't you have been here last night?' Heart started to race a little... I explained the chain of emails between myself and the lady from Arnica Views, and that I had paid in advance with my credit card, to lock in the Saturday night. He said that I was lucky - the room was still available. Whew. We wandered up to the room and it was fantastic. The gentleman said that all of the supplies for breakfast were there (and they were), except for milk. He suggested that I could trot down to the local shops about 10 minutes away, or if I could wait, he'd bring some to us the next morning. As we didn't need milk right away, we were happy to wait for the next morning. Unfortunately, the milk never did arrive, so I had to head down the next morning to the local shops and bought some myself. No biggie. So, to the venue itself. We were in the 'cheap' room and it was awesome. Really comfortable bed, shower and bathroom was really nice too. Felt clean after a shower - a good sign. The amount of stuff available for you to self-cook for breakfast is awesome, various cereals, toast, bacon, eggs, etc. Not sure if the eggs were free range or not, great if they were. We had other people in a room above ours, but you could barely hear anyone. The gardens surrounding the rooms are just incredible. The smells, the quietness, the colours. Just couldn't fault it. I'd really recommend this place to anyone visiting Mt Dandenong. It was fantastic.

It seemed pretty popular though as there were quite a lot of people wandering past the window and grabbing their morning coffee. Actually, that coffee window seems to have becoming the main stay in a lot of places these days, making grabbing that coffee so much more convenient (as well as ordering it on the app beforehand). As for the coffee, well, it was okay, but nothing hugely fantastic.

Standing room only with sparkling water on tap this place is as hipster as it gets. Neutropic offee with MCT oil to allow for slow release of coffee strength, double whizz which is two espresso shots and a cocochai which is chocolate flavoured chai are some of the options. I ordered an extra hot skim cap and the barista refused to make it extra hot and refused to put chocolate powder on it because that's not how cappuccinos are originally made. Oh well then there should be some warning before cappuccino orders are taken. I forced the barista to give me some chocolate bits. Coffee is a strong hit . Strong bodied and very robust but leaves a silky smooth after taste. Good coffee.
