I can't blame the weather for why I didn't have an outstanding time at SkyHigh. But I must say that upon arrival, the sun was shining and view was spectacular. Then after lunch, rain clouds rolled in and everything was un-seeable. We had a window table reserved for our lunch at SkyHigh. The window view was nice and allowed us to take in as much of the scenery as possible. Lunch was good, I had a duck entree, my partner had the steak, and we both ordered tasty desserts. After lunch we did the maze, which was $6, and we won a "special prize" for completing it. The maze was nothing to exclaim over, if anything, it was just a good photo opt. There are also gardens to stroll around in. You can easily spend a few hours here. It was a nice adventure overall to SkyHigh, just be weary of the temps and weather. Mount Dandenong can get pretty cold and you don't want to get rained out so you aren't able to see anything. Now there is a gate fee of $5 per car, but after eating, we received a complimentary gate entry card for our next visit. So because their tagline is "Spectacular by Day, Stunning by Night," we feel compelled to use the comp card to see the evening into night time view. read more

The Skyhigh Licensed Bistro/Restaurant is a really nice place to grab a meal. There is the option of entering either a buffet area downstairs or make a booking for the restaurant up top. There visitors can overlook the view out of long paneled glass windows and this is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The prices are reasonable considering how generous the servings are. Just a hint, don't order the delicious chips if you are getting a main - eating them both is impossible! (The chips are to die for though so it's a pretty tough decision.) The service in the restaurant is very friendly however they often don't have enough staff. The person serving is always really nice though so you tend to feel more compassionate than annoyed when it takes a bit longer for your drinks to arrive. Oh, that's another thing - the lemon lime bitters here are divine! Vegetarian meals are great here too - think massive pizzas, pastas and burgers. There is always a specials board that offers good deals. When you first walk in to go to the restaurant there is also a fridge stocking ice creams and frozen yoghurts as well as a counter offering tea and coffee and snacks like muffins. The service in the main cafe terrible. Fee times I have been there, and always tell myself to never come back. This time I shall keep the promise and warn the others - save yourself the awful service, when they lose your order despite charging you, or bring food late and after several reminders. Observatory is fine but do not go to cafe, it is absolutely third or fourth world level of service. Two queues plus 30min at table plus several come backs to ask them what's up with the order. The view beats the $6 parking fee. The food was very nice. A decent size steak and chips. Nice crispy outside but smooth inside calamari. The staff were nice and friendly but the place was full of tourists and we had to wait for a good twenty minutes to have a table. So booking is recommended on the weekends. Sam was quite attentive and an epitome of what you expect from a waiting staff. Daisy was swift in preparation of tables for next customers. The staff were well trained, above average I may say but something was lacking. I think I love to see people smile a bit more. It changes the vibe. So one star down for the lack of smile. Great place for a function. There upstairs room is huge and has am amazing view through the floor to ceiling windows or from the spacious deck. Downstairs is a nice cafe it too has a nice view but not as good as upstairs. There is also a few viewing platforms on the sides. Out front is a lawn area with for a gathering. Or a giant chair to sit in. Out the back is a few private gardens and a mini walk with little bridge and creek. A maze if gardens. Great for photos if you have you big day here. read more

Sky High is a viewing platform on top of Mt Dandenong. To get here you need to pay a small entrance fee (I 'think' its around $5) to the person in the booth. Once you arrive at the top you will find plenty of parking spaces in front of their buffet/bistro. I have dined at both Buffett and bistro before, and did not find them to be that great. The food was average at most and you only eat there because it seems like the appropriate thing to do. Sky High offers a sprawling view of Melbourne where you can see all the way from Mornington Peninsular to Port Phillip Bay. This isn't somewhere you would go to look at the view of the city as it is too far away and the CBD just looks like a little cluster of taller buildings. To be honest, this view did really take my breath away, perhaps if you came at night it would look nicer due to the lights. Sky High is okay, I mean its nice but...I've seen much nicer. We went to the Skyhigh Bistro on Thursday the 14th of June 2018 at around 3 pm. I was with my wife and son. My son was walking in front of me and walked in past the sign of wait to be seated. I went in and lifted him up to which my son showed a discomfort for about 5 seconds. I came out with him and was waiting to be seated. I asked the waitress there for a table of three and she said that if "my son would be crying then it would be difficult as there were paying customers seated in the restaurant". She pointed towards the tables outside like suggesting us to sit there instead. I mentioned to her that my son is not crying and would not cry unnecessarily. This the subtle and passive discrimination. There were 2 tables occupied in the restaurant and he did not create any dramas to attract any attention from the tables. My son is 4 years old and Autistic, he can't talk and sometimes shows discomfort by saying some words loudly to seek attention. In this instance he had not even said anything yet. I was not in the mood to sit at the bistro anymore and wanted to get out but my partner calmed me down and said that we were there for our son and not to spoil our mood, she mentioned that there would be some discrimination towards us as our son is special and we would have to get used to it. All that while I was at the table I was cautious that my son did not make a sound else I would be stared down by the waitress there. I gave my son my phone so that he can watch his cartoons and be busy till the food was finished. Now when I think of it IT IS NOT OK. We are paying customers and did not ask for any favours from any of the staff. There is a way to do things and the girl at the counter had no idea. She is unfit to do a customer service role if she can't handle children or customers at a tourist destination. I was not just a tourist with a child of special needs, I live in Melbourne. I observed that there was a camera at the venue and I strongly suggest looking at that camera to see if my 4 year old caused even the slightest of trouble for your paying customers. I have gone through pages and pages searching if kids are not allowed at your venue but I am unable to find anything. Please advise me otherwise. I want an action to this. An action which explains why was I told something like this in the first place and what remedy has been taken to ensure that this will not happen to any family in the future. On a sunny and warm Sunday, lunch at this Bistro is busy. There's a constant stream of customers wanting to enjoy the view, the experience and some lunch. I did this with four companions. We booked for 12-30 and ordered drinks. We ordered food soon after. All the food was very nice - a fresh hot Cobb dripping with garlic butter, giant Chicken schnitzel with chips, Angus beef burger in bun and chips, tasty Tomato & Basil Soup with toast; and a Pumpkin Salad. Unfortunately the service let the whole thing down. Drinks delivered without glasses; Soup without a spoon; garlic bread without side plates, worst of all though - there was far too long to wait for food. After the Garlic bread was finished, the rest of the food didn't arrive for an hour and then not all at the same time, so some diners had to watch their food go cold while we waited for the rest of the meals to arrive. A great spot to see all of Melbourne as far as the eye can see. Great sunset spot as well. If yo go by public transport it is free to get in. A big view, deserves a big steak, and they deliver. read more
