I will rate this place a solid 4 stars. Compared to their sister location and dual owned One Fusion on Bayview. Which I rated 3 stars. The difference is the cost. Skyview offered a small, medium and large dim sum special at $5.80 if paying cash. Whereas the One Fusion did not. The food quality was pretty much the same. It's your average dim sum. Absolutely nothing spectacular. No special dishes to write home about. Nonetheless if looking for a bargain and relatively decent dim sum. Then a recommendation is in order. I will be back for a deal but will reserve my gourmet dim sum visits for other dim sum establishments. read more

I came here for dim sum with some relatives. Popular place with locals it seems. Long wait to get in on a weekend. Service after being seated was a bit slow but was to be expected given how busy they were. Place was packed. Food we ordered: Beef balls - ok. Not super flavourful but nice texture. Oddly enough we had to ask for the Worcestershire sauce. It wasn't served with the dish as normally expected. 3.5/5. Rice rolls with shrimp - the rice rolls were a bit too wet and mushy. Shrimp and veg filling were nice. 3.5/5. Rice rolls with cumin lamb - less common version of this. Sadly not much lamb, cost more for same portion size as other rice rolls, too much cumin and celery. And still too mushy. 2/5. Giant dumpling in soup - ok. Nothing bad, nothing amazing. Pretty standard. 3.5/5. Bbq pork with noodles in soup - the pork was excellent. We asked for a lean cut and it was lean but still very tender with a nice char. The noodles were slightly overdone. 4/5. Fried pigeon - a bit overcooked and dry. 3/5. In terms of value, the bbq pork with noodles was a giant portion and great lunch special deal at $15. Feeds 2 easily. Highly recommend. The dim sum dishes varied, typically just under $10 each. Pretty average pricing and mediocre quality. The pigeon was $20 but not done well. Tea was $2.50 per head which imo is too high for a place like this. The restaurant itself has the typical tacky decor with a rainbow of colours and lighting found in Chinese banquet restaurants of this vintage. It was clean and comfortable enough. A bit run down but fine. Plenty of free parking out front. Overall, solid average with an exceptionally good lunch time bbq pork noodle deal for value. read more

Was at Skyview or takeout and they were super busy! This is a popular brunch and dinner spot in the area and we thought to try it out. Takeout took a long time, it was about 30 mins to get the food ready and everything was great at home. We ordered: - fried squid, standard taste and crispy, as expected - salted fish with chicken fried rice, standard taste - veggie with tofu and mushroom, great choice for a vegetarian option Overall, the taste is good, but nothing special compared to other chain Chinese restaurants. I'm always on the hunt for good Chinese food and if I have to go to Markham for some scouting, so be it. We got there for somewhat of an early dinner (5:30/6) and the place was almost fully booked so they had to sit us in one of the small AV rooms (lol). We quickly found out why the place is so packed, the food is absolutely delicious! Our favorite dishes were a black beef tenderloin (pictured) where the addition of roasted sesame cashews was a great touch. I also highly recommend their seafood fried rice that was absolutely delicious and they even added some tobiko for crunch! Skyview is popular, and that was obvious even early on a Monday, with the dining room buzzing and nearly packed. The setting feels like something straight out of Hong Kong: an over-the-top, slightly artificial kind of opulence that somehow holds a very special place in my heart. Noisy restaurants have so much character. In fact, they're one of my favorite sounds. Have you ever just closed your eyes and listened to everything happening around you? The overlapping conversations, managers firmly directing--or occasionally yelling at--staff, glasses, tea cups, and chopsticks clanking. It's the soundtrack to some of the greatest food memories of my life and on full display here. I was a solo diner, which was a first for me when it comes to dim sum, and probably something I won't repeat often. The whole point of dim sum is ordering half the menu and sharing everything, which is a little difficult when you're sitting alone. Still, I went for five dishes--which was far too much, but honestly, over-ordering is part of the experience no matter how many people you're dining with. The portions here are among the largest I've ever seen. These are dumplings on steroids, with oversized versions of many dim sum classics. I ordered the fried almond shrimp balls, bean curd stuffed with pork, fried chive and pork dumplings, turnip cakes, and steamed pork and vegetable dumplings in the Chiu Chow style. Everything was good, but the steamed pork and vegetable dumpling was the standout. It had great texture from the added peanuts, a wonderfully chewy wrapper, and a fresh filling that was both herbaceous and savory. The turnip cake was also impressive, with large chunks of firm taro layered throughout. The remaining dishes were solid but more in line with what you'd find at many other dim sum restaurants. Nothing wrong, but nothing that particularly stood out. Overall, Skyview is a cool spot with a fantastic dim sum atmosphere. Came here back in February on CNY eve, already knew it would it be a gong-show - and it was indeed packed to the rim. Was already prepared to wait, However the hostess just continuously lied, I get they can't project the actual wait time - but do not keep saying 5 more minutes for nearly an hour. Additionally - when we were the "next" table in line, someone went to the hostess that just got there, and was like i forgot to make reservation, and got seated in a minute. When we asked the hostess about it - she said they were waiting a long time. Like come on, why you lying? lol. Anyways - place for quite clean for the most part, however bathrooms seemed pretty ignored. - well lit and tables spaced pretty well. However quite loud, but again very busy. Still a great dim sum spot but prepare to wait a long time. Came on a weekend with a reservation for 12:00PM. Although we had the reservation and even came 10 minutes earlier, we ended up getting seated at around 12:40PM. A bit wild in my opinion and beats the entire purpose of having a reso in the first place. However, was food exceptional here as always? Yes. Service was good? Yes. They have all your classic dim sum dishes like chicken feet, siu mai, har gows, and more. A must get here is definitely their cha siu with noodles - affordable and tasty. Been here for dim sum, which is great if you happen to score a table in a timely manner. This time we're here for dinner and the quality of food is good. Who knew that this dim sum spot on a January day will be busy for dinner! We were planning to just walk-in but thank goodness I called for a reservation on the day of as we got the last table at 6:30pm. They did have another event for a 100 day celebration going on for another party that took up 50 spots. However, speaking with the server, she said this is not considered a busy day so I suppose it could be even busier than this. The restaurant has the standard traditional Chinese banquet ambiance and they can section out for parties and there are private dining rooms too. This is where you would enjoy authentic Cantonese-style Chinese food. In fact, my non-Asian friend who was in my party noticed that he's the ONLY non-Asian in this entire restaurant and that's his gauge for authenticity lol. We ordered a dinner set for 4 which included soup, vegetables and mushroom, fish, beans and veggies, char siu and dessert. They even up the dessert portion to our party size, which was a nice touch. We added a stewed crab noodle and soya sauce chicken (apparently the server noted they specialize in). The food was tasty! Soya chicken is much better than what I would find in a Chinese butcher shop. The stewed crab noodle we ordered like off menu was just okay kind of plain tasting but I suppose went well with our salty dishes as we didn't order rice. However, I would say we enjoyed the food at One Fusion better (their sister restaurant under the same ownership). The char siu (BBQ pork) at One Fusion is the best I've ever had and here, while it's pretty good and up there, the cut of meat is slightly either too fat or a little too lean, not the balanced perfect bite I had at One Fusion. Came here after lunch around 13:30 and it was pretty busy still, possibly popular. Wait time was long over 25mins. The place is huge though, usual dimsum Chinese restaurant. Mostly round tables, couple of private rooms. Small bathroom as well. Order using the paper on the black box side then anything additional for a second round, place the number on the red box "add" section. Food portion is huge here! We usually order two squid tentacles for the kids but it was too much now. Their har gaw is massive. Great portions, no need to order extra for sure. An adult 12 years-old and above when you spend $30 before tax, you will get a free 8 Oz Angus beef steak worth $20 to take home. Basically , spend $30 and getting about $20 back in steak value. What a steal! Ordered sweet and sour pork. Sauce was perfect sweetness and not overly sweet. They have blueberries, pineapples, red pepper and green pepper. Using all fresh fruits. Pork was tender, juicy and had good portion of fat. Only complain was I wish it was more crispy and comes out hot. Red wine crispy oysters was nice flavour and had 6-7 oysters. Deep fried big blump oysters drizzled in red wine sauce. Again it was tasty but the food was not hot enough and the deep fried oysters was not crispy enough. Free range chicken with baby greens was outstanding. It was sprinkled with Chinese dry-cured ham pieces. A nice salted ham that goes with every bite of the juice tender chicken. This was my favorite dish. Daily soup (carrot pork bone soup with logan). Soup was very sweet and the temperature came out hot as it should be especially when dining during winter. We ordered the small size for $12. Honestly flavour was good overall but food were not crispy and hot enough imo. I visited during winter months and I think serving hot food and the right temperature is important. I came here with two of my friends for CNY - we were pretty hungry so we ordered quite a bit, but unfortunately we couldn't finish everything so we got to take it home. They had a good selection of dumplings that you normally don't see so I appreciated it. However the server that came around and showed us our tables was very rude and felt like they were rushing us to get out sooner. But you do get the one lady who's kind of rude. And for starters, despite it being kind of busy during dinner service, you need someone to greet your customers at the entrance. The har kow had like four full shrimps in it, it's impressive how it was all contained in the wrapping! 12/10/24 10a While in Markham, I was looking for a place that opened early for breakfast and came across Skyview Fusion Cuisine. It's a Chinese restaurant that specializes in Dim Sum and offers a selective menu of Chinese dishes. There is free parking available onsite, which is a nice convenience. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the host and seated instantly. Right away, we were served two pots, one with tea and the other with hot water. Unlike other Dim Sum places I've visited in the U.S., where carts roll around with a variety of options to choose from, Skyview has a more limited selection. Here, only the most popular dim sum dishes are available, and you have to order from the menu. They do offer other kitchen items besides dim sum, but those are only available after 11 AM. I ordered some of my favorite dim sum dishes: steamed shrimp and snow pea leaf rice rolls, steamed shrimp dumplings, scallop dumplings, and steamed pork dumplings. All of them tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. It's worth noting that the portions here are significantly larger about double the usual size in the U.S. and even with just two of us, we could barely finish everything! Overall, the food was excellent, even with the limited options. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Skyview Fusion has got to be one of the best dim sum spots in the area! Each portion was very fresh and generous and left us already planning our next visit. All the classic dim sum dishes we had were all a hit! Notable mentions include the hargow and siu mai. They were incredibly delicious and quite huge in size, but the true star of the show was the BBQ Pork with Rice. It is a MUST try. We have never had anything juicier and tender! I've had lots of dim sum in North America as well as HK. I was told to come check out Skyview by a NY friend of mine that is Cantonese and owns/runs a classic Cantonese restaurant. The good: food is authentic and BIG portions! Atmosphere is classic dim sum parlor. Huge dining hall with chandeliers. This is a place for sharing. You can chose what to order while you wait by marking off the menu with pencil. Once seated the menu is ready expedited for kitchen . Your food comes out fairly quickly . Always a good time when you come here. The parking lot is very big but parking is tight here so be very careful. You're also competing against the people who are going to Costco or to the coffee shops around the back. Once you enter, it's super gold and bright and the hostess always greets you, loudly. Been going here for over a decade and Skyview's dim sum never disappoints! There's a reason why the restaurant always have a huge lineup for weekend dim sum and it's the quality. The prices definitely aren't cheap, especially that we don't offer any early bird specials, but you can definitely see that the portion size is consistent after all those years and the taste is amongst the best in the GTA. You can find your dim sum usuals like Ha Gow, Siu Mai, BBQ Pork Buns, and Egg Tarts, but they also have some unique features like Pork Feet and Durian Desserts. I like the bird cage dim sum set because you get to try a variety of items for only $20. The seafood soup was spoiled and rotten by appearance alone as the first dish was brought out to us. In particular the crab meat, As the last dish came out. Crab meat with E noodle, the crab meat was totally unacceptable as the crab meat was bad from appearance and smelled. We tried to explain this to the waitress and captain(Amy) and were met with push back."How are we going to know its bad?" We were at this restaurant for a family birthday dinner. Took 2 tables with a private room. Parking can be a bit busy but there is ample space. Th service had good pacing. We felt everything was made fresh and came out at a reasonable pace. Last thing you want is all the dishes immediately coming out with no space on the table and things getting cold or too slow a service and waiting doing nothing. Food: All the dishes were cooked well. The suckling pig was crispy and moist. Crab balls were freshly deep fried, super hot and fresh. Good crab flavor. Soup came out piping hot with great seafood flavor. 3.5 STARS My mum wanted to go for dimsum during Christmas holidays, and our usual dimsum spot recently closed down. We decided to go to Skyview. My parents and siblings have never been, but I have. Although I made reservations for 12pm, we weren't seated until almost 1pm. The restaurant is always packed and it's somewhat small inside. People would stand by the side of walls where patrons are dining waiting for a table, because the waiting area is already so full of people sitting and standing waiting to get seated. I asked for two tables, they only gave us one or we would've been waiting for a longer time. Food wise was okay, we ordered a lot of dimsum that day since we had 16 people total, 2 toddlers had to sit on their parents lap and two infants had to lay in their stroller (I was one of those parents). Some foods were hit and miss, but the best ones were the siu mai, har gow, and baked pineapple pork bun. Everything else was okay or the flavour profile was a little off or not flavorful enough. We got ham sui gok and the dough was just so thick and very little meat inside. The chiu chow crystal dumplings, again the skin was so thick, I just removed the skin and ate the stuffing inside. Turnip cake was too soft, didn't hold its shape when trying to pick it up and the sticky rice with minced chicken was bland and not flavorful. The menu doesn't offer some of the popular dimsum dishes like others do. Don't think I would come back here for dimsum, but would give it a try for dinner as I've heard good things about it. read more

This review is solely based on the dim sum food and experience. We were really looking forward to eating here when we arrived in the GTA for our first day, especially since Skyview had been on so many "Best of..." lists. Unfortunately, from the first dish to the last one, everything was just bland and not very flavorful compared to MANY, MANY dim sum restaurants I've been to around the world. Being from New York City, I've been spoiled my entire life with great dim sum in the 5 boroughs. Unfortunately, Skyview was very disappointing. We went on a relatively ordinary Tuesday morning at 11:30 AM and, surprise, surprise, it was PACKED. To be fair, it was the week leading into the US/Canada Labor Day holiday weekend. We waited about 15 minutes for a table for 4, so it wasn't too bad, but it still came as quite the surprise that we had to wait for a table on a weekday. The waiting area and actual dining area were separated, so when you finally make it in, you feel this great sense of feeling special -- like we made it! We were whisked into this world of dumplings, rice rolls and sticky rice, but our excitement was soon dashed. The one positive was that we didn't have to share a table because our kids could be quite the chaos creators, so we'd rather not have to apologize for any accidents to fellow customers. ALL of the typical dishes you would expect to be served at dim sum was served here - beef/shrimp/roast pork rice rolls, shrimp dumplings (har gow), pork and shrimp dumplings (siu mai), spring rolls, chicken feet, etc, etc, etc. They mostly had it all - on paper. They don't actually have the carts rolling around (WOMP WOMP), but instead have given into the new way of ordering, which is to fill out the menu instead and have us hesitantly hand it in like a last minute class paper, not sure if we ordered everything we really wanted. In a way, the paper form worked because they did have pictures of everything, so it made it easier to visualize the dishes. We ended up ordering - baked BBQ pork bun pastry, steamed pork dumplings, chicken feet, sticky rice w/chicken, steamed buns with molten yolk, shrimp & pork spring rolls, BBQ pork rice rolls, shrimp rice rolls AND a fried crispy egg noodle Cantonese style --- These are the actual names of the items as listed on their menu. The verdict - as I said earlier, BLAND, BLAND, BLAND. It wasn't just one or two things, it was many dishes that were blah. A few were OK, but, it was hard to forget the many that weren't. It's quite rare to go to a Cantonese/Chinese restaurant and say that the food is bland, but it was here. We recall multiple dim sum dishes just did not go all the way when it came to the flavor - like you would bite into it, chew it, taste it and then the flavor would disappear and not remain in your mouth after you swallowed the food. It's difficult to explain, but you know it when you eat it. And, the one time we actually ordered an actual "kitchen" item, as in a rice or noodle dish, it was disappointing too. The fried crispy egg noodle Cantonese style's (aka pan fried noodle) sauce was so flavorless we were in disbelief. The noodle was very crunchy and crispy, so props there, but the sauce is EVERYTHING. If the sauce is terrible, then the order is shot. I really wanted to like the restaurant, well, because when you dine somewhere you want it to be good, but, also, because we came in with such sky high (no pun intended) expectations. I know Markham is known for amazing Cantonese food and I do believe it, but, this was really one of the most disappointment dim sum restaurants I've been to (and, like I said, I've been to MANY). read more

Came here specifically to try their BBQ pork rice and it did not disappoint! It's served over a burning flame to keep it warm and the meat was so tender and juicy! Perfect if you prefer a leaner cut of cha siu as opposed to a fattier cut. The amount of honey glaze was perfect and added just the right amount of sweetness to the cha siu. We saw every table order this dish so you know it must be good! We also got the roast duck with ho fun noodle soup and this was just as delectable. They actually give you pieces of duck with meat instead of just bones and it paired perfectly with the plum sauce. While the cha siu rice is their signature dish, don't sleep on their dim sum dishes! We got the chicken feet and steamed beef balls and both were excellent. Similar to Yu Seafood, portions were huge and prices are decent. Decor wasn't as fancy though and servers were a bit cold and snooty. This, along with the loud atmosphere, made it seem more like a traditional dim sum restaurant. Amazing food and service that went above and beyond. We stayed at the Hampton Inn nearby and it ended up being walking distance. We had a big party family trip so we wanted to order takeout. When we asked for plates or bowls so we can share the food with, they didn't have any Togo bowls but instead they had small Togo boxes that they cut in half to make enough bowls for us! As for the food, it was very legit and must say it was better than Chinese food in California where we're at. We didn't want it to be too greasy or overly salty due to our family members health, so we requested that. Usually it would turn out being bland or restaurant would be too busy to accommodate. But this place, they accommodate our request even though they were super slammed that night as there were wedding banquet going on at the same time. The food turned out to be fabulous. It was properly seasoned, even though it's not too salty, and it was not your usual Chinese food overly greasy type either. Food was very balanced and flavorful. Their service was top-notch and we would highly recommend anyone staying nearby or in Markham visiting to try this place out. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Don't bother making a reservation--it means absolutely nothing here. They still prioritize walk-ins, claiming they "can't let them wait too long." Honestly, if they didn't make a reservation, that's their issue. Why should we, the ones who planned ahead, have to suffer for it? Even with a reservation, we waited over an hour. The system is a complete mess. "First come, first served" clearly doesn't apply, and there's no transparency about wait times. It's laughable. Familiar faces seem to get special treatment too. As for the food, it was fine, but nothing special. We had dim sum only, didn't get the stir-fry or noodles, but it's definitely not worth the hassle or frustration. We asked for hot sauce and had to ask several times. I get that they're short-staffed, but some of the staff were just chitchatting with customers instead of helping. Not sure why this place is badly rated, but I agree the waiting system is sooooo horrible. But the food is in fact very good: - Siu Mai 5/5 - Har Gao 4/5 - eel rice roll 5/5 - baked bbq pork bun 5/5 - Fried seaweed roll 3/5 - glutinous rice 2/5 - turnip cake 5/5 - egg yolk lava bun 5/5 - bbq pork 5/5 - winter melon 4/5 Their shrimp items are deveined, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The Eel rice roll, baked bbq pork bun, and egg yolk lava bun are some of the best I've ever had. Go there after 1:30pm or prepare to wait for 1hr.
