I'm not normally adventurous when it comes to motel chains, but my mother and brother both highly recommended this particular location. i was pleasantly surprised at my good experience here. It is a "budget" motel with a very friendly staff and clean rooms. My room had obviously been updated, the shower had been expanded leaving a curious architectural feature in the room. The free wifi was fast enough for me. The free breakfast was hit with a variety of options for most tastes. Did i mention the staff was really nice? I'm normally a marriott kind of guy, but they were 50% more in cost and no free breakfast. There is an indoor pool and jacuzzi, but no exercise room read more

The rooms are disgusting and outdated. During my stay I heard and saw multiple cases of poor treatment towards who i believe were newer employees in training, and overall there was a sense of superiority and a lack of care and professionalism from the owners. Word travels fast in Montana- i have also heard from quite a few people that the owners treat their employees poorly and that is why they have a difficult time staffing. I really don't understand the bad reviews here. Because for a budget friendly hotel, this Sleep Inn was just wonderful in our opinion. Every staff member we dealt with was friendly, professional and helpful. The room was updated, clean and comfortable. Swimming pool very well maintained (and I'm picky about hotel pools). Nice breakfast in the morning. No cheap coffee in styrofoam cups like the last place we had stayed in Idaho. The restaurant right next door (Paradise Cafe) was a plus. Had a really good meal there. I've been all over the world, from 5 star resorts to 1 room cabins at the local KOA and everyplace in between. The Sleep Inn in Missoula, Montana meets all my requirements for a GREAT hotel. Here they are... 1) Nice staff: I like friendly, polite, knowledgeable staff and the folks here are great. They bake fresh cookies every night, the front desk and the cleaning staff clearly communicate and help each other and everyone has a common goal: happy guests 2) Clean: these rooms are spotless. Seriously, not a fingerprint or speck of dust. The freshly painted room and newer linens contributed to the appeal, I don't like worn stuff. The decor was cute- with nice photos and art that matched the bedding. Really pretty. Oh and the pool and hot tub were immaculate, super clean and nice! They're open pretty late (midnight, I think?) 3) Quiet: No nearby freeway, and the walls and windows keep this place quiet. No loud parties in the neighboring rooms- Yay! 4) Amenities: if it's advertised, it needs to be there and be terrific. And everything is. As I said, the pool is great. The parking lot- huge and clean and well lit. Business center in the lobby- ready to go. Ice machines and vending machines all working great. My tv, shower, cable- everything was perfect. Side note-- I noticed a reviewer complained this place had no fitness center... they don't claim to. Read your hotel description, folks. You can only expect what is advertised and what you're paying for. Go do push-ups in your room! Okay, back to the greatness of this place- the breakfast... WOW! Biscuits and gravy, bagels, eggs, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, pastries. I could go on. It's all fresh and delicious. Coffees, teas, juices, hot chocolate. Breakfast is included and it's way more than you expected! There are a variety of discounts for rooms- AAA, military, etc- call and ask about the best rate. That's my advice. They'll tell you how to get the best rate, whether that's on Hotels.com or Expedia or direct with them. (Tip: I am often getting better rates and rooms calling hotels directly these days). BED BUGS!!!!!!!! After laying in bed watching TV for a solid 3 hours I saw a teeny tiny little bug crawling on the sheets... then another one... then one that was red and when I smashed it left a red stain on the sheets aka MY BLOOD it had been sucking. I left immediately (know to never put my belongings on the bed from a prior bed bug exposure) and told the front desk person about it. I should've known when I checked the mattress when I first got there and there wasn't a mattress cover that it was a bad sign. I called multiple times over the course of the following week because my TWELVE bed bug bites were driving me nuts. They would not refund me my money and denied it even though I have photos of my bites. DISGUSTING!!! Stay away!!!! I was in room 106. read more

Clean, easy check in and dog friendly. This isnt very easy to find, however, quite a bit of distance between the hotel and 90, and the street you are supposed to turn in on isn't clearly marked. Make sure to keep your eyes pealed and listen to your maps app. They do have a small breakfast nook, but breakfast during the week ends at 9am. I only know this because I came down for a spoon and a staff member was passive aggressively suggesting the people dining hurry up and go, as it was past 9am. read more

On this particular trip we've had many good experiences. This was not one of them. The room was fairly clean but small. The shower door was tilted quite substantially and the toilet seat would not stay centered, flopping down. Worst of all the toilet paper holder had been ripped out of the wall leaving just one post sticking out. The cleaning crew obviously had not mentioned it to anyone as the front desk was surprised about it when I told them. The question was asked if we were sure the cleaning folks had seen it. Uh yeah, the hole in the wall is a give away and they folded the end of the roll of TP and stuck it on the remaining post. Hard to miss. The bed was pretty hard and pillows not so comfortable. This and the air conditioner that sounded like an ice machine all night lead to a pretty poor night of sleep. Why two stars instead of one? They need to finish remodeling before allowing people to buy a room, so when we first got there our room was 106 and there was paint splatters on the carpet, and curtains. Then it was like they didn't vacuum so we asked if we could change rooms. They moved us up to the second floor and thankfully that room was clean but the walk up the stairs the carpet was partially showing nails on the sides so that can be a hazard if someone wasn't paying attention. Overall for the safety of there customers they should shut down until there remodeling is finished. Also the light above every room before you walk in needs to be cleaned and has random dust or dead flies inside them. I hate doing bad reviews but this place has potential if they hire the correct people to do the job. Based off the paint splatters ripped up carpet with nails exposed and non vacuumed rooms; think they are not hiring people that know what they are doing. Please do better sleep in... read more

We were actually here about a year ago but I'm just now catching up. We were on a long motorcycle trip and stayed here for the night. It was a very rainy day and we were very happy to reach this hotel. The rooms were modernly decorated, very clean and the staff was great. There was a bit of a wait for our room as it was not quite ready. They were busy and a bit behind...but the room was fine. The small courtesy breakfast was perfect before hopping on the bike to continue our journey. I felt safe, and well cared for in our short stay. I would stay here again without question. read more

I stayed here for two weeks on business. It is a basic, no frills hotel but with that in mind, it's a great place to stay. As a woman, being there alone, I always felt safe. The hotel is clean and the staff was always very friendly. I was on the 3rd floor which meant I didn't have any noise above me. I was also in the front of the hotel. Which meant that I did hear refrigeration trucks that parked on the street out front. But even that was just white noise. For those who like to soak, it's a shower only, no bathtub. The shower had fabulous hot water and water pressure. The location is great as it's pretty centrally located. It's a half mile to Southgate Mall & the movies. About 3 miles to downtown. I would stay here again and I also would recommend it to those who need a place to stay in Missoula who want a safe, clean, no frills place to stay. read more

The breakfast room is very small (three tables and a counter for seating). The pool is tiny, but we'll heated. Upon checking in it was clear that a room next to ours was smoking marijuana in large amounts. The smell consumed the whole floor. We made several complainants to the front desk and finally someone went to the room. We thought the problem was taken care off but less then an hour later the floor again was full of smoke smell. We again went to the front desk. She told us since the occupants had "green" cards she could do very little. I asked and confirmed that the hotel was "smoke-free", she didn't seem to understand that no matter what was being smoked we had paid for rooms in a non-smoking hotel. Finally she asked them to go outside but we ran into them everytime we walked out of the hotel. After checking in we found that due to illness one parent could not make it. I let the front desk know. He informed me that that was okay and they only had one other empty room and would be able to sell it. He stated that he could not issue a refund because the manager was out of town and to later next week when she returned. Since that date I have called at least twice a week asking for the manager. Each time a gentleman answers the phone and informs me the manager is out. each time I explain why I've called and leave a number. I have never received a call back and I'm completely frustrated. Not only was our stay very lackluster but the follow up service has been on a level that is completely unprofessional. read more

There are many hotels in Missoula and I would strongly suggest staying in one of the others... My family was heading to Phillipsburg for a funeral and we needed three rooms for one night. Sleep Inn was reasonably priced so we decided to give them a shot. When we arrived, there was no one at the front desk and the phone was ringing. We stood patiently and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally a young man arrived to check us all in, he was pleasant so we let it go. When I got to my room I discovered that the key didn't work. After several tries I managed to get the door open. I had both my husband and my brother attempt to open the door while I settled the kids into the room and we all agreed the lock was faulty. I called the front desk to complain and the phone rang for quite awhile before the young man picked up. This time I wasn't as patient... I informed him of the broken lock and he told me they were aware of it and someone could come up and show me how "to jiggle it the right way." I asked about switching rooms but they had "a full house" and no others were available. Since our stay was only for one night, I decided to let it go and try to make the best of it. That's when I noticed that there was no bathtub in the bathroom, just a standing shower stall. Okay, for most adults that's fine, but I have two little kids who need a bath. Then my daughter complained that she stepped in something wet... There was a huge wet spot in the middle of our room! I was still trying to make the best of it when my husband asked if I could smell the cigarette smoke... The whole room reeked... I needed to get out of the disaster that was supposed to be a relaxing night before a funeral, so I went down the hall to check on my father and he tells me that the door to his room doesn't lock properly either. So out of the three rooms we got, two had faulty locks. Seriously, what are the chances?! While I would LOVE to give this hotel zero stars, I've opted for the high road and I'm giving two stars because the rooms were clean, the beds were okay, and the breakfast was decent. If you're really desperate, Sleep Inn will do but I'd suggest staying somewhere else if you wanted something extra special like locking and/or unlocking your room's door! read more

This was my first time in Missoula and we needed a reasonably priced place to sleep for a wedding. I'm giving this a low review mainly for the noise. I could not sleep here. Our room was close to the lobby on the first floor and I could hear everything. Also anytime someone in a room above or near us ran the sink, shower, or flushed a toilet -- I could hear it very loudly and the sounds would run on for awhile. Barely slept. read more

This place left a lot to be desired. The customer service was adequate, if done begrudgingly. I am basing that on comments made from the server in the breakfast room as well as the phone technician who came to fix a phone that was non functioning in our room and grumbled about having to come most of the time he was there. Our toilet overflowed while there as well, and the employee was this young kid who needed direction and reassurance and still did an incomplete job. This was an absolutely terrible experience. Not only do they not have an area to wash cloths but they also don't have a fitness center. I scheduled my rooms for 4 nights starting on a Saturday. I had housekeeping barge in 3 times first thing in the morning starting at 8. They claimed that we checked it of our rooms. We went down and fixed the issues and extended the stay to Wednesday like it was supposed to. Well the next day I'm sitting in my room about 7pm and an old couple comes in the room. Uh oh... When we checked in the television was not functioning in our room; we asked for a quick repair, though, and Kaz, the guy at the front desk, fixed the problem. Down in the pool room, the hot tub was "closed for repairs."The underwater pool light in the small swimming pool broke loose and floated to the surface! Yipes! There was a huge sodium light aimed at our window all night, which meant that a lot of light leaked in around the curtains. The bed was (gulp) soft and lumpy. The dome light in the (tiny) shower was broken. While we were dressing this morning, before 8 a.m., the fire alarm for the entire building went off. Everyone piled out onto the parking lot while the siren blared and the odor of burnt toast filled the second floor. The place looked clean, and Kaz was professional and helpful. But with all these issues (and more that I didn't mention) at over $100/night, next time I'm going to spring for a few more bucks and stay at the Staybridge, where I had a much nicer stay last time I was in Missoula. read more

We called to reserve a room from our starting point (Seattle, WA), and we're told we were good to just come in as soon as we got there, no card number required - even after we asked. We got to the hotel and were told that we weren't in the system, that there weren't any available rooms, and that "sometimes that shift doesn't know what they're doing." One downside - no safe in the hotel at all. Not even a safe deposit box at the front desk, despite advertising on expedia.com is having a safe deposit box at the front desk. Negative stars! BEWARE! I ended up getting conumed by BED BUGS and the manager denies tgere was a problem. Originally wanted to move me to another room then asked me to make reservations somewhere else because they didnt want the bugs to spread so o got kicked out because I discovered a weeks old problem (i took the bugs i found to the front desk the adults take up to 5 weeks to mature and there were 3 and 2 more at different stages.!) Only wanted to refund me one night, then when I pressed two- out of the 5 I'd been bitten up in in the middle of a reserved and paid for 15 night stay! The morning i took them down there were new mattresses lining the halls and piled up from a shipping container in the parking lot. With that I figured they were aware of the problem already. I had to go to a laundry mat to wash every speck of everything i had in the room because the bugs can crawl up to 20 feet in one night causing me a huge expense because there was 6 of us total. 45 bites and finding more as I sit here and scratch. Wow, there are a lot of hotels in Missoula! Plenty of high priced ones off the freeway. Sleep Inn had the best value for the 2 days we stayed here. Previous reviews of this hotel would lead me to believe otherwise but they must've renovated or changed owners. The rooms were CLEAN! Beds were comfortable. Room was nice that was about all. Our card was charged two times for our one night stay! When we called back we were put on hold or the phone would ring for half hour with no one answering. Finally day three we get that manager, well front desk supervisor Christina who's husband was the manager, she was rude rude rude to us. First she said we left the room trashed, which is a lie my girlfriend cleaned the room! When confronted on that lie, she changed her story to well your stuff was in the room until 3pm. Yet another lie we were back in Kalispell by 2pm, so once confronted yet again she changed her story a 3rd time. This time we apparently left the do not disturb on the door yet another lie. However at this point she informed us she would reverse the 2nd charge, at this point my girlfriend asked for the corporate # and was hung up on! At this point I called to ask for the # and was told I was harassing her personally and "to look the # up yourself". I informed her asking for a # is not harassment and asked again at this point I was given the # to the police department in Missoula and told, "I am reversing the refund and charging the card yet again", and then hung up on. It was a Friday evening that we arrived at this hotel. Our motorcycle had broken down unexpectedly just east of Missoula and we had dropped it off at a Honda repair place a few miles out of town. Our tow truck driver was kind enough to drive us back into town, and asked each hotel that we stopped at (Sleep Inn was the third) if they honored a special rate for stranded motorists. At this particular hotel the snotty young male concierge chose to snark that we "should have booked a room in advance" because the Testicle Festival was taking place at the time. Not only had we NOT PLANNED to stop in Missoula, we had less-than-zero interest in the annual Testicle Festival as we are both ethical vegetarians. He handed us a list of neighboring hotels, and when I inquired of the area code he responded condescendingly "uh, EVERY city in Montana has the same area code" without answering my question -- as someone from out-of-state this comment is not helpful because I still don't know what the three-digit-code is. To actually spend a night at Sleep Inn Missoula is likely not an unpleasant experience but if that concierge is any indication of the attitude one should expect from the rest of the staff, stay ANYWHERE ELSE! read more
