I have been ordering from Slice of Italy for years and have recommended this place to plenty of family and friends. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be ordering from them again. We placed an online order for two large pizzas with pepperoni and olives. When the order was delivered, both pizzas were plain cheese. Mistakes happen, and this has happened a few times over the years, but in the past they corrected the issue and delivered the correct pizzas. This time was completely different. When we called to explain the problem, the woman on the phone argued with my wife instead of trying to help. She kept saying their system showed that we ordered cheese pizzas, so that is what we received. There was no attempt to listen, verify the receipt, or resolve the issue professionally. We ended up bringing the receipt and the pizzas back to the restaurant, and even then they continued to insist they were right. The staff was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to take responsibility for the mistake. After several back-and-forth comments, they finally issued a refund, but the entire situation was handled terribly. I understand that order mistakes happen. What is unacceptable is arguing with a customer, refusing to look at the actual receipt, and treating long-time customers like they are the problem. After years of supporting this business, this experience completely changed my opinion of Slice of Italy. This was our first time coming here amd I have to say, we will definitely be returning. The staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is classic Italian style, sit down restrestaurant with a game room for children. You can come here for a nice evening out as a date or bring the family and have a fun casual evening. I ordered the fettuccine with sundried tomatoes and chicken. Perfectly prepared. The chicken was nice and moist, with the peperfect texture, al dente pasta, and a beautiful creamy alfredo sauce. 10/10 Oh, and the breadstick was so soft and warm. My husband ordered a pizza with peperoni, Italian sausage, pastrami, and black olive. He's quite the pizza connoisseur, and he also says 10/10. We showed up just before 5pm on a Friday and it was not busy at all. Leaving the parking lot at 6pm however was a bit difficult. The calzone was not cooked all the way through, meaning it was still doughy and cheese was not melted all the way. For starters we ordered mozzarella sticks they were dark and over cooked. We also ordered cheese garlic bread, they did not use fresh garlic. The other food was good, the pizza was the best thing here. The restaurant itself was clean and had nice music playing while you dine. The whole experience was ok, unfortunately we will not be dining here again. My first experience was ordering take out and I had the pasta w chicken in brandy sauce and it was fabulous!! So we decided to dine in on our next visit. The service was great and the food was delicious!! I had the Florentine ravioli in the browned butter sauce and my partner had the chicken Parm. Never had a bad meal here so far. IMO much better food than the popular "F" restaurant on Brimhall. The dining room could use a remodel but all in all the food and service was great! First and foremost, I would like to give kudos once again to the mixologist that works at Slice of Italy lounge. He goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable and comes up with some outrageous drinks that you want to come back again and again. Jeffrey the mixologist is wonderful and willing to please. Now comes the not fun part and I really hate that I need to share this. But there has been a change in the chef department. He's not the chef they used to have, but he's pretty damn good. The wait staff lead in the food portion of the building, needs to go back to customer service training. She's never smiles very rude, abrupt, and you could not pay me enough to sit in the food portion of the restaurant. Also, can someone please explain to me just because the food portion of the restaurant has no customer customers why they need to close the lounge? People are waiting out the door to get into the lounge. For some reason just because the food lead management lead choose to closed the food portion of the restaurant doesn't mean you need to close the bar at 9:30 PM on a Saturday night. People are standing outside the door just to come in to be told the bar will be closing in 15 minutes. Which makes no sense to me because I'm sure the bar tabs are much larger than what they receive in the food portion of the restaurant. Closing that early on a Friday and Saturday night is so ridiculous. I can't even begin to explain. So you're sending me to some other restaurant that stop serving alcohol at 11 PM 12 PM? Why go to the lounge if the hours are so restricted because of the Food staff. Somebody really needs to do a receipt check and figure out that the bar probably brings in far more money than the restaurant portion of the Slice of Italy. I'm a single mom and sometimes I wanna let my hair down and I do not wanna go home at 9:30 just because the bar will not serve me because the kitchen has told them they are closed. So close the kitchen food does not have to be served. Whoever ever thought of that is completely ridiculous. Again this is my opinion and I'm sure many other people out there. Agree as well. Why close something that is going good just because the lead staff has decided to close the kitchen. It feels so welcoming every time we visit here. We love how they always have family specials and we can change toppings. We always do half one flavor and half another flavor so our little ones can eat the pizza as well. Staff is beyond friendly and always checking in with us. I love how they have an offer if you checkin on Yelp, you'll receive 5 free wings. It's always dim lighting in there which is my favorite because it helps switch up the mood and slow life down a bit. My husband and I have been to Slice of Italy on Hageman several times and really enjoy it. We've had pizza, pasta, steaks, and appetizers and all have been good. We especially loved the fettuccini chicken alfredo with portabella mushrooms, it has been our favorite dish so far. The bar is decent but the last few times we went, we sat in the bar and the service was sub-par. We will continue to go because of the food and proximity to our home. We do recommend them! read more

Last night I ordered the creamy garlic combo, a pepperoni pizza and the chicken and wedges. I'm impressed, everything was cooked well. I stopped using them for awhile because the pizza was overcooked. I don't know if it's new equipment or new cooks, but whatever they're doing, keep it up. the pizza crust was crunchy on the bottom and soft, not raw. After nearly a year since having our favorite pizza in town, we came back from out of state and couldn't wait to have it again. What a gargantuan disappointment! First, I will note that the service was good and very kind. No complaints there. The pizza itself was trash. The crust tastes identical to a Red Baron frozen pizza; dry, flavorless, flat, and unenjoyable. Not to mention, it was undercooked. The sauce was over applied and tasted like cheap processed generic sauce. The toppings were not as fresh and flavorful as they used to be and the pizza significantly lacked cheese. Don't waste your time or money. The Slice of Italy downtown is WAY better. The two locations are not owned by the same people. The Hageman location is dirty, grungy, dark and bleh. It pains me to write this review but I am so disappointed in our pizza from yesterday. We ordered pepperoni and bacon pizza and a regular pepperoni. When it came we noticed A LOT more cheese than usual. Mixed in was big chunks of tomato, green onions, mushrooms, and on the bottom there was a huge chunk of something burnt that resembled a bug. (Not sure what it was but that's what it looked like) I ate one piece just to try it and barely finished it. I started developing a stomach ache an hour later that continued almost all night. I woke up at three with severe stomach cramps and proceeded to vomit, some other not pleasant things, and the most severe cold sweats I've ever experienced. It's now 11am and I still feel horrible. My stomach is unsettled and nauseous. We usually love this place and order frequently. I don't think I'll order again for a very long time. read more

Very disappointed. I have supported this business since they first opened. Placed an order through their website for pick up. The site says they're open till 10pm. Order was placed just after 9pm. Receipt says that order will be ready by 9:50. Arrived at approximately 9:30 and the place is closed. Locked up tight and not a soul in sight. I called and left a message with a call back number. I hate posting negative reviews but for the rude service I received and for the price I paid for what I got - I feel like I need to put it out there. This place used to be so good - the food was always fresh and delicious. We've been going there for years - but recently everything has went downhill. It is on the pricier side but I don't mind paying if it's good food - well the crust is super thing and our pepperoni pizza didn't even have enough to cover the entire pizza. Not a soul in the building when we walked in on a Tuesday evening. I'm assuming it's because it's a weekday because the food and service was top notch. Tony greeted us and took care of us through the evening. Because I checked in we were able to get free wings! Yay! We ordered the creamy garlic pizza and two orders of kids fettuccine. The pizza took around 20-25 min, I think or maybe I was really hungry so it felt that way. But the pizza came out so hot and delicious. Highly recommend. I came here today to have a long lunch with a friend. We told the waitress we were going to be a while and she was happy to accommodate. We arrived at 11:15am and left at about 3:45pm. I wasn't kidding and everyone was so kind and kept asking of We needed refills or anything while we chatted and caught up muching on pizza. I ordered the $12 pizza lunch special with pepperoni, Canadian bacon, artichoke and olives. It was very tasty. The pizza dough was more on the biscuit side but it had a wonderful flavor and wasn't dry. The toppings were fresh and added just the right amount of spice and saltiness I was looking for. It was pretty quiet in the restaurant there wasn't many people for that time of day which is probably why they didn't mind that we just kind of camped out. The dinner at Slice of Italy with a special menu was among the best. See the pictures below of the plates. Due to some allergy issues, the international chef, Anna, prepared my plate carefully and presented it beautifully. When I choose a restaurant, I look for: First, food preparation, quality, and presentation. Secondly, excellent service (our waitress Michelle). Lastly, the restaurant ambiance is part of the package; the decoration is less important if the restaurant and utensils are clean. The manager Maya said, "oh well...it is $60 now and the ad is wrong". She blamed it on the website company and refused to honor it in any way.
