Great place and great people. My only problem is there was an uncomfortable situation because I requested someone else pierce me rather than the person was randomly assigned to me. It's an awkward situation but the piercer was new when I got my first piercing last month and I wanted someone this time with more experience. She was perfectly fine, I just wanted a more experienced piercer this time(especially since it's my nipple being pierced). She was great and very welcoming, there was just some complications with the piercing because she was new. (It's been a month, I'm sure she's great now and in the swing of things). I just wanted someone with more experience with this very personal piercing. A man who I believe that was the owner asked me why I didn't feel comfortable with this piercer, fair question on his end. But he started talking to me about this in the lobby lobby out loud in-front of everyone, even in-front of the employee who I didn't want to pierce me. It's a simple mistake but if you have someone to talk about and a discussion that's personal, don't do it in-front of everyone and the employees. I felt uncomfortable, especially when I felt like I was being talked down to by an older man when I was just trying to be a paying customer. Really great experience. Went to get my nostril pieced and felt very comfortable the whole time. A bit expensive, but I think worth it :)

I went and got a second pair of lobe piercings. The gentlemen who pierced me was super sweet and super knowledgeable! He told me that my original piercings from when I was a child were no longer symmetrical. He told me what to do in order to fix it (which will take time). Felt welcome from the moment I walked in. Nancy greeted me and had me to fill out a form to get my nostril pierced. I asked for an Iphone charger AND although she couldn't find one, I saw she was actually going around to different staff and asking them on my behalf. A+, Nancy. Meaghan took care of my actual piercing and made me feel at ease even though she was super sexy. She nailed it too, it looks great and she seemed proud of her work which is a good sign. She also implied I would attract more ladies because of the piercing, which is exactly why I got it, obviously, because I am very low on self-esteem. My only complaint is that when Meaghan and Nancy started talking about how hot Lenny Kravitz they didn't ask what I thought of him. I can contribute too!!!! Thanks again ladies. read more

So, I really want to give them a 1-star, but I don't think their work is bad. I went in today with hopes of getting a tattoo -- that is, my fourth tattoo -- but was completely turned off by their lack of customer service. I appreciated it when they told me not to go with something too small since it can get blotchy in the future. I appreciated it when they told me that they would fit me in as a walk-in at some point today. However, I did NOT appreciate being spoken to like a naive person, nor taken for a complete idiot when they wanted to overcharge me for a SMALL tattoo that shouldn't and wouldn't cost more than $100-120 anywhere else. I am a million percent sure that my budget was realistic for what my idea was, and I would've appreciated it if they were willing to work WITHIN that budget rather than blatantly tell me to "save up" instead. Otherwise, he said, it would be something far more simple -- AKA a shittier job. Thanks, but no thanks. I left the shop disappointed, and mostly annoyed with them taking me for a complete idiot, and walked up the street to Adrenaline, where not only were they accommodating, but they fit me in for an appointment tomorrow AND they're willing to work within my budget while still doing a good job. Instead of working with me, you lost a good and loyal customer today. Good job, Slicks. read more

Decided to try a different artist here (Smashley) after seeing her work on a friend. Stopped by today to get a sketch started and put down a deposit. Other reviews claim great work but horrible customer service when in fact the service I received was pretty great. Shop owner was helping a woman carry her carriage up the stairs and welcomed me in, staff at reception were cheery and joked around while getting me the information I needed and the artist acted outright excited towards working with me. This is one of the nicest tattoo places I have been too, very nice and inviting space as well as the staff were very nice. I walked in in the middle of the week at around 12:30 (which isn't a busy time), filled out some papers and got it done right away. The design I wanted was very very simple and it took less than 2mins to complete. Came here to get my nose pierced and was very satisfied. My piercer (can't remember his name!) was very friendly without coming off as fake. He cracked jokes the whole time, but was also serious and honest when he needed to be. I was really happy with the way it turned out and it didn't hurt at all afterwards! It's more expensive than the average place, but you're paying for quality and cleanliness that really makes a difference. Update: came back again and again had a great experience with the same piercer (his name is Richard)! My friend was with me to change her nose jewelry and Richard warned her that once it's in her nose he can't take it back. However, upon sensing she wasn't completely happy with it he offered to give her a new one for free! I came to get a nipple piercing, which was a surprisingly relaxed experienced thanks to Richard's easy talking and jokes. However, he still maintained a professional atmosphere by being honest and serious when he needed to and in the end he did a very good job. read more

So I went into the store one afternoon just to get some information on a pin-up tattoo. After a little while I asked the front clerk some questions. First off, he was an ass towards me. I don't know why, but wait, there's more. I asked him if he or any of his artist had any portfolios to look at, so I can tell the persons style. He looked at me like I was a fuckin idiot. His words exactly " bro, we got books on the table". Ya, no shit. So does every other tattoo place. So I asked even after all that if I could get a quote and once again he seemed confused. I stumbled into working with tattoo artist SmAshley Dale of Slick Styled Steel and she was an absolute treasure. She's a fantastic artist, yes, but also a true professional with a lot of integrity about the work she does. Totally unsolicited testimonial -- please check her out, if you're spending good money and time and discomfort to have a keepsake for the rest of your life you owe it to yourself to get the best work you can. I was visiting Montreal from the US and did not know where to start in finding the right artist. The sister of a friend of a friend recommended this shop, and I chose SmAshley just because I liked her work posted on the website. We talked briefly on the phone and she seemed nice. Totally flying blind, I made an appointment. I sent my ideas and sketches to SmAshley via email. I had concerns, and she took the time to answer back and forth with me. She showed so much respect and care that I felt a lot more confident by the time I walked into the small but cheerful and meticulously, operating-room-level clean shop. Then she showed me her stencil idea. AMAZEBALLS. She took my concept and worked it into something far more marvelous than I started with. For this piece, SmAshley had morphed my moon and clouds idea into a lacy, intricate Art Nouveau-style line pattern. Because I had only one shot to complete the tattoo, she created a design where the lines could pop by just filling in the negative space with vibrant color, avoiding time-consuming outlines. Clever idea, and it showed how much she'd listened to me. The work took a very pleasant and nearly pain-free two-hour session, and the finished piece is gorgeous. Totally beautiful!!! I could not be more pleased. What a cool collaboration! I really appreciate that this artist was so thoughtful and deliberate about creating a piece that was really meant for me, for what I wanted and why I wanted it, the limitations I set, and her sense of who I am. While she worked we talked about her philosophy about making permanent art on skin. She has high standards for herself in representing the profession of tattoo, keeping the client safe and comfortable while making sure the finished product is a piece they both feel excited about. I came admire her professionalism more and more the longer I spent with her. I am so glad fate led me out to this little shop in Ste.-Anne-de-Bellvue, it was a total leap of faith. I don't know about you, but I'm looking for more than just a pretty picture in getting a tattoo -- it matters to me who does this work on my skin. I want a fully satisfying adventure and an energy exchange that leaves me with a good memory of getting the piece done.
