The day itself was my favorite kind of day, a gentle rainy one that most would consider unpleasant or dreary. Not me. I purposely don't take summer vacations or vacations to hot places. My goal for the first part of my day was to visit the Malmö Museum (Museer in Swedish) and Castle (Malmöhus Slott), but I also made time to really explore the Kungsparken, or King's Park, as well. This was really an unavoidable thing anyway as I had planned to continue to follow the canal into town to meet my friend after work for dinner, shopping, and goofing off. I'm big on the free outdoors when I travel, you can tell. I enjoyed the little clusters of flowers most, but also the canopy of different tree species and the series of trails, bridges and passageways along the canal, which borders one end of the King's Park. Weeping Willows create shade and privacy. I found the park very romantic! The many benches along the trail would have been perfect for a rest, but alas in the rain that was not an option. It's an 8 plus acre park, and a complete circle would be great exercise. The route I took through altogether was 2 miles of walking. If you're headed to the castle fortress and museum anyway, you can't miss it. Note: The Yelp listing also says "Zoo," but if there is one in here I didn't find it...

So my experience was a little less enjoyable sauntering, and more Pacman-style weaving to get where I wanted to go. I can see there is beauty here, and I imagine that I would enjoy it more during a less busy time.

That and the fact that botanical gardens are just gosh-dang beautiful. The park closes a little early in the evening, so I didn't have much time to explore before needing to clear out unfortunately. There is a part of the garden featuring hops and beer-helping plants. Loads of paths, lots of greenery...you can't go wrong. In the center of the park is the Palm House, which is spectacular to look at from the outside. It costs extra to go in, and I was at the end of my budget so I didn't get to go inside to see the exotic and tropical plants. If you like walking around in nature and looking at pretty things, you should come to the Botanisk Have. Also then you are close to the national art and geology museums...three birds (attractions) and one transit stop! Worth a stroll through!

(and the occasional llama). They are very friendly and especially friendly if you have food! Make sure to bring sheep-friendly foods like carrots if you want their attention. They are able to associate the sound of plastic bags with food so when they hear it, they will come running! But there's also tons of other things to do in this park, i.e. fish, hike, jog, picnic, etc. There are tons of trails throughout the park and really great views of the ocean. Just remember that the park is maintained only by volunteers so be sure to keep the area clean!

My friend who lives in the area says a lot of the vendors just give what they have left at the end of the day to needy people who can't afford to purchase the items. There were some benches to sit, and made for good people watching, as well as getting acclimated to the area.
