Wouldn't recommend!!! The office staff is kind but Dr Laura Whitehead has zero bed side manner is rude and cuts people off while trying to explain what has been going on. Took my Pug yesterday tried to show photos and explain and she wouldn't even look at my phone and just cut me off and got no answers really and no recommendations from her on where to take him. It felt like he was just another number and she was trying to see as many patients as she could. I waited longer to get my dog back from the back room than she even spend examining him. She straight up lied on the discharge papers saying owner declined diagnostics and referral when she offered no such diagnostics or referrals. If I had to put my dog down I can't imagine that women being who I would have delt with, she made me feel terrible and hopeless after paying $100 for no answers and she was rude. On 4/14/2026 we took our sick cat (Milo) to the Small Animal Emergency Services in Vass. Milo had been vomiting and acting lethargic for several days. An x-ray showed he had a intestinal blockage. It came down to either putting him to sleep or paying for surgery. We opted for surgery, and today I am happy to announce he is doing great. He apparently ate a shoe string that he could not digest. Thanks to CareCredit, I am able to make payments. The loan will be interest free if I get it paid off within 6 months. My experience at this clinic was very positive. The staff was very helpful and polite. The doctor was excellent and diagnosed Milo's issue very quickly. For emergencies or if your normal veterinarian cannot get the job done, go to this clinic in Vass. They have more advanced imaging and can perform various surgeries, as needed. Just be patient, they can get very busy, but the wait is worth it. read more

I'm so sorry for all the people who had a poor experience. We were hesitant to come because of the reviews but our sweet hedgehog was dying and we made the choice to visit. Staff was so empathetic and understanding and patient. My husband gets very anxious when the things he love have to get treated, but the employees explained the process to him and helped us feel reassured. Brought in our sweet dog, Melody due to a salivary gland rupture. She was taken back immediately and while waiting ,the vet tech brought out pictures of her to show how well she was doing. She was examined, cleaned, treated, bandaged and sent home with 3 medications. We were very happy with her care and would use their services again. read more

7/13/25 I took my 10lb 17 yr old Yorkipoo to be checked for pancreatitis....Arrived at 7:30am.. told I would have to wait until 8 am after shift change !?? ( Emergency needs to be changed to after hours WALK-IN). I was sitting there at 8:20a when the Vet from the night shift walked by me to say they would see us soon. Saw Vet 9 am.. approved treatment, Pet returned to me after receiving fluids at 11:15am. Vet Tech said I would be checked out. I waited until 11:30a before I went to check with reception who opened her window & informed me "I am not ready for you & will call you up when I am". At this point after 4 hours of being extremely aware there were emergencies that took precedent, I was not happy with her rudeness. I watched her get on the phone , eat her grilled cheese sandwich & continue checking new arrivals in. I went back up at 11:45a to ask to speak to the office manager & she informed me she would be in on Monday. So, I asked for whomever was in charge & I was told the Vet was , and was too. busy to see me ( 100% understood). She scolded me for not being patient & how she was the only one there & she would get to me when she could!!! They already had my payment information ( all I needed were the prescribed meds). She offered the office managers name ( and yes I became THAT PERSON we all hate & told her I would talk to Anne ( Owner & Veterinarian). Within 5 mins I was being checked out, being called sweetie & how glad I was able to take my fur baby home ( PLEASE). As a side note, people who arrived at 9:15a were told it would be a 5-6 hour wait!! I will have to make other arrangements in the future. Sad, as I have gone there many times over the years & it would appear other than short staffed they need to understand being on the other side of that desk!! read more

I called to see if I should bring my dog in due to eating chocolate, and the person who answered the phone said I could not even bring my dog in to be seen without paying the consultation fee for poison control. I asked, so I can't even bring him in and then she hung up on me. Totally unacceptable. No wonder why their reviews are terrible!! read more

So I had a dog who decided to be stupid and hurt himself. Brought him in mainly for pain meds and possibly an xray cause he stopped putting weight on it. Receptionist is not friendly and has an attitude. Check in no problem we were sitting for all of maybe 30 minutes before getting put in a room. Vet came in wanted to do sedated X-rays (he really doesn't need sedation but some vets prefer it so that's fine) of his injured back leg/foot. They took awhile to do that and the vet had to figure out how to word it for me I guess cause he tore a growth plate. He was then splinted for $159 and it more than likely shouldn't have been splinted due to no actual bone issue and lack of him being able to move it already being on crate rest. After the sedation wore off I could hear him howl and bark (how I knew it had worn off). I was told I couldn't pay till she had my chart and they wouldn't bring my dog out to me till it had been paid. At which point I said I had $200 I could give her right then and there as a place holder for my bill if I could have my dog sit with me in the waiting area. I was told that's not policy and I could talk to someone I asked why I wasn't able to isn't have him sit with me while I wait for his chart to be done. Receptionist caught an attitude again with me asking these questions and asked if I wanted to speak to someone else. I said no I just would like to know why I can't have my dog. Receptionist then went to the back and was talking shit. A person I would assume is a tech came out and said well his sedation hasn't worn off and we are still finishing his chart. I know that he was still sedated was a lie as I could hear him. I had asked for my total multiple times so I could get the money together for the visit which ended up being $640.49 after getting quoted on the phone for $250 for X-rays and a $125 exam fee. $70 in pain management which will do nothing cause he is already on crate rest, no steroids or any other med for inflammation (hock and foot being swollen). $159 for a splint that has already had to be taken off. $35 for sedation for xray that really wasn't needed. I paid her $200 in cash and had to wait for a bit of money to transfer and get sent for the remainder amount. She had a snarky look on her face over the fact she had to wait for the remainder of my payment. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ER EVER. I'm from out of town and the way I was treated for asking simple questions was super rude. They have signs posted all over that you can be turned away and not proceed service for attitude and being rude to staff, but their staff can be rude to you all they want... read more

referred by Urgent Vets for Pets. entrance fee was already $50 higher. explained issue. 3 year old cat peeing on upholstered chair. no previous issue. filled out paperwork and given an estimate for blood work, radiographs? and possible medication $698, in addition to the $125 already paid. granted, we especi needed to question radiograph for $230, but we were distraught. we signed. 2 rectal thermometers didn't work. tho the vet. dr Turner was very personable, she was feeling Coco's bladder and he peed in carrier, from which she couldn't get a sample. so we left Coco there a couple more hours, in hopes of getting a sample. the sample they got was not enough for a conclusive evaluation, but we left with oral meds, our $800 total. told to come back in 2 weeks, after meds were gone, for another try at urine sample and perhaps meet with a behaviorist. won't be back. read more

The BEST! We brought a kitten we had found on Tuesday and brought her in at around 10:30pm Thursday night. Terrible condition. they took her back immediately to get her assessed and taken care of. Out of all my experiences with vets. These guys are by far the best, cheapest and the most empathetic vet hero's i've meet. I want to say without them this kitten wouldn't of survived the night. we continued care with a local vet. These guys will get my services from here on out in any emergency. I have grappled with whether to offer a review of our experience but feel folks need to hear from all vantage points. Our 16 year old cat just wasn't acting "right" for her. When she got in and out of box several times in just a few minutes and then assumed the position as if she was trying to "go" outside box we decided she needed help. Our assumption was UTI. She has never been sick. Our regular vet was closed (it was (Sunday) and message recommended a couple places. We headed to Fayetteville and were told it would be 4-6 hours before she could be seen. Found another emergency service in Vass (40 miles from us) so we headed there. Didn't seem especially busy so we were encouraged it couldn't take too long to be seen. Had to pay $100 before they even touched her. We waited a good 3.5-4 hours before she was examined. She's feisty on a good day so they sedated her. Doc came out and said without full blood work up they couldn't be sure what was happening. We agreed For the testing to be done. When results finally came in, Doc said her WBC was exceptionally low and she suspects Emma is septic. We all know how that typically works out. They wanted to keep her overnight with iv fluid and antibiotics. Told us bill would be about $1500. Doc made it appear she might not make it through the night. We left her with the understanding she had to be picked up before 730 next morning and taken directly to regular vet she would not let us see her as she said she was too sedated so we left her after having been there over 5-6 hours. Paid $500 (in addition to the first $100) as they said bill could be more than estimate depending on what happened during the night. Arrived next morning. we paid rest of bill. My husband asked Doc who had been there overnight how she did and he said he really didn't know much about her as the doctor there before him set up treatment plan. Husband said so you didn't check her and he said she was too agitated for them to do anything so they left her alone. So she might not live through the night, but no one even checked her at all? Brought her out in her carrier smelling strongly of urine. IV fluid still attached and off we went to regular vet. When we arrived there, our doc wanted to know if she had been tested for feline leukemia and something else. Other doc had mentioned possibility of cancer. We had no clue but emergency vet said they were doing full blood work up so we assumed so. Evidently not as our vet did the test. We told him we suspected UTI - most females recognize those symptoms and know how miserable one is when UTI is present. Test for leukemia came back negative and our doc said even though it might appear from test results she didn't have UTI, he was going to treat her as though she did and we would see what happened. She was still feisty and just didn't act like an animal at death's door. They removed IV and sent her home. Upon arrival, she let us know she was hungry. She ate exceptionally well and drank water till we thought she might burst. Started her on meds from our doc (note we left the emergency vet $1500 all in with no medicine at all) and the result is Emma is doing great. The point to this review is that we felt they took advantage of the situation. We don't really know what they did for her other than tests and IV fluid. Bill seemed exceptionally high, we were led to believe she was critical and honestly felt on the way back the next morning that she likely had not made it. We are grateful she is doing so well but cannot help but question why emergency vet wasn't more conservative in her treatment and testing. Kept saying she is 16 years old of which we are well aware. BUT she was alive and feisty so we were of the opinion she could survive with appropriate care. To learn they did nothing for her overnight other than rack up charges was quite disappointing. Our local vet was kind and compassionate. We didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling in Vass as everyone was very clinical and interested in the money from the vet to folks at reception desk. We just don't feel she had $1500 worth of care and certainly didn't get any TLC while under their watch. Hope to never need an emergency vet again but if we do, it will certainly not be in Vass. When you find yourself in a situation such as this, you are vulnerable and afraid. It is our opinion this place was all about the Benjamins and not about the animal. We certainly expected to pay and pay handsomely. After all, it was an emergency but one might think for that leveof cost, she would have been checked during the night and maybe even given some Medicine before she left. Yep we know she has going to another vet, but what did we really get for the $1500 when she was treated for a UTI and has responded exceptionally well in the aftermath? I've brought one of our dogs here twice in the last few months for unrelated issues that of course happened on the weekend when our usual clinic is closed. Both times we had a different vet, and both times I was happy with their care and diagnosis. My only real complaint would be that the other staff is not great about communicating with you during the lengthy waits. Today I arrived at 7:15am, the initial person to greet me gave me paperwork and then disappeared for 20 minutes or more. There was only one other car in the parking lot and I watched that dog go back almost right when I arrived. I was hopeful we would go back soon thereafter. We were not called back into a room until 8:30. Someone knocked and came in to ask me what my dogs name was around 9:15 and we finally saw the vet at about 9:30. For an empty clinic it's frustrating to take that long to be seen. If there was more going on behind the scenes like more urgent cases coming it, I would have appreciated an update about that. I would also like knowing that the staff knows where me and my dog are waiting. Maybe a file system outside the doors would help with that? Overall, I would just say to be patient with the staff, because the vets are great. read more

i am soooo happy that Small Animal Emergency Services was open. My 3 yr old Sadie, Pitt /mix was seriously injured by my other 9 yr old female, Ginger (Australian cattle/ Golden retriever mix). Ginger left a few very dangerous contusions that could have been life threatening. At the time I didn't realize the extent of her injuries because she wasn't bleeding a lot. The Front Desk ladies were very helpful with knowledge and processing our paperwork. The Doctor (male) was extremely kind and thorough when explaining Sadie's actual condition. Justin the Med Tech was sooo kind and gentle with Sadie (he has a forever friend w/ Sadie). they took her in the back, stapled all her wounds close with a couple of stints, she stayed there until the morning when she was awake. i met another super kind Med Tech and Doctor (owner) that were fabulous. They listened to me and all of them gave me great advice. These people love helping the animals and their owners. I am very thankful for their help and so is Sadie. read more

Visited a few weeks ago with my sweet almost 10 year old pomeranian post seizure. Dr. Banta and her techs were quick, gentle and gave us accurate and thorough information. They were at the end of their overnight shift and never made us feel like an inconvenience for coming at that time. Take your money first then tell you it will be a 4-6 hour wait. If you leave, they charge you $30. What a rip off

I usually do not write reviews but I need to write this one. We brought our 5 year old fur baby dog in on a Saturday because he wouldn't eat, was vomiting and wasn't acting right. The Dr. diagnosed him with possible Leptospirosis pending confirmation that would take up to 5 days to get back and acute renal failure. They informed us he would need to spend the weekend to receive fluids and run more bloodwork and we would need to pick him up Monday morning, we agreed. The staff seemed "okay" to us that day, somewhat sympathetic. When we arrived to picked him up Monday to transfer him to a Urgent Vet that they recommended he had vomit all stuck in his ears and food stuck all to his mouth, he had an IV cath. in as well as a urinary cath. in, and a cone around his head (couldn't they at least clean him up a bit??!!). He stayed at the Urgent Vet all day Monday and actually improved dramatically! He was eating and drinking a little and playing with his food like he normally does and kidney functions started to improve. (Oh, and they actually cleaned the vomit from his ears, brushed them out while he was there) Monday evening we unfortunately had to take him back here to SAES where he basically "Crashed" overnight - The Dr. did NOT even call us during the night to let us know what was going on! When we picked him up we were told he went downhill overnight and we needed to take him back to the Urgent Vet. When we saw him he looked TERRIBLE! He could barely keep his eyes open and his head up (because they gave him morphine) and AGAIN he had vomit caked to his ears and food caked to his mouth. Also, according to their notes they took him OFF of his IV fluids for 5 hours during the night AND did not re-check his kidney functions at 2am like they were supposed to!! That day the staff was completely RUDE! The front staff all look like they hate their lives and when I went to pay the bill she slammed the pen down on the clipboard and handed it to me to sign the CC slip - no eye contact - no nothing! They had NO empathy towards us what so ever - if you don't like your job - GET A DIFFERENT ONE SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! I guess they figured they got enough $$ from us and were done (over $3,300) We took him back to the Urgent Vet and on the way there he started with labored breathing, I was terrified! When we got there they couldn't believe how much worse he looked!!! - they got him right back, he went through more testing and basically we were told we could transfer him to a larger facility in Raleigh or we had to make the hard decision to put him down - we chose the later - he had been through enough. We will NEVER EVER bring any future pets of ours to this place!! Highly NOT recommended! read more

I want to start off by saying thank you. Our sweet German Shepard got hit by a car and we knew he had a broken leg and other injuries. We called and brought him in to be seen. They got him in the back instantly, got him comfortable and put us in a room to explain what they could tell prior to X-rays, and to discuss our options. They were caring, honest, understanding, and took their time to answer any questions and concerns. Unfortunately his injuries were to serious and we had to make the hardest decision to date. They were so kind told us all different options and even came in and gave us different quotes. We had our seven year old with us and they even allowed her to say her goodbyes, she picked out the urn for her brother. I don't know all the staffs name but they were all so incredibly wonderful. Jackie was a true blessing and reassured me I made the right decision. Would recommend them to anyone. Thank you again for making the worst night a little more bearable. read more

Don't let the negative reviews fool you--from reception staff to nurses to doctors, they're attentive and kind. I'm sure long waits are often a complaint, but don't let that deter you. Dr. Waldsmith was excellent. She took our MANY questions and humored us as new dog parents. Moreover, she soothed our concerns and, of course, got our pup and his broken foot x-rayed and splinted in no time. All in all, took maybe an hour and a half from start to finish. read more

We are reasonable, kind, educated people. I have left 1 negative review in my 38 years on this planet. This is my second. I arrived at 5:58pm (they open at 6:00) with our dachshund who I had found lying lifeless in our yard foaming at the mouth. She vomited blood (a lot) and had bloody diarrhea twice in the car. We waited for an hour and a half before she was seen by the doc. Her condition was not considered an emergency. It was considered stable. Fine, I'm not a vet. However, during our wait I saw other animals come and go. Animals being taken in before their owners parked, filled out paperwork or followed any of the protocols I followed. Animals being walked in on a leash (that's hard to understand when your dog is vomiting blood out both ends)! The clinic required our dog have a parvo test while I held her in the car. More blood shooting out her back end and down the techs leg and in the car. The vet tech also stated there was a parvo positive puppy in the clinic. We waited still. I saw other animals pull in with their owners and go in without a parvo test. We waited still. In the parking lot (Covid rules). 11pm and still no definitive diagnosis, but the doctor suggested she stay a minimum of 24-48 hours with a boarding charge of $135 a night plus treatment costs $$$$$$$$$$$$ We had already signed off on $550 in blood work and two Xrays. I agreed to the additional charges for one night. At 11:13pm a vet tech called and said I would be charged a higher price than I was quoted and agreed to with the DOCTOR. I said I would be paying what I was quoted. She raised her voice, aggressively argued with me about the charges and the dogs symptoms.....she backtracked several statements that contradicted her original statements and then HUNG UP ON ME. I was shocked. Bafflingly unprofessionalism. The HR lady Jenn(?)'tried to Smooth over the situation, honored the charge quoted by the doctor and then suggested if we every have another emergency we should consider Fayetteville or Cary emergency clinics. I pick our dog up at 8am and will take her to our regular vet. Summary: In the parking lot for over four hours. Poor communication. Unprofessional service, misquoted prices... truly rude tech who raised her voice and hung up on me when I did not agree to paying a higher price than I had been quoted/agreed to with doctor. When we had enough of the wait and stated we was going to take our dog home in place of letting him stay for more test and fluids the vets attitude changed for the worse and down right degraded us for not letting our dog continue to get care. Thank goodness we took our dog home because if we had left him there would have been tests that he did not need. Thank goodness. He got better the next morning. All they care about is getting your money. They require you to pay the office visit fee first. The lady at the front desk seemed rude. Granted this visit was during the Covid pandemic and I will never know how our dog was actually treated while in the office because we were not allowed in the office. If i could rate zero stars i would. My dog became sick with parvovirus and this was the only place open so i went. After going back and forth from here to my usual vet because of the closing hours i was exhausted and so was my pup. Don't really understand how it's an emergency place when they aren't open 24/7 like a usual hospital but that's not my point.. After paying $1800 for my pup to stay 3 days at this place for overnight care and observation that i could not provide as she needed IV fluids I went to pick up my dog who was still very sick. The woman who brought my dog out to me handed me her in a manner that I did not like and i genuinely wanted to slap that lady but I had my dog in my hands. She was covered in urine, feces, and they put a cone on her that was covered in dried throw up and mucus. I will NEVER come back here and i do not recommend this place to anyone. When i first showed up the lady overcharged me $50 and had to refund it to me. Just real shady place and it's crazy cause you could walk in there with your dog bleeding out and they'll still make you wait 3 hours. read more

I have read some of the other views and I hear both sides. Oh well. Our experience was rather rude as our puppy was throwing up and pooping at the same time that scared my wife and I. We took off without any thing to get our boy there. Well we first called and she said you might as well go to Fayetville we are busy it could take an hour or so. Well that is how far Fayetville is We showed up filled out the paper work but was refused service unless we paid up front. Yin have to love a Dr that put the POCKETBOOk over care for an animal they refused service until they got paid luckily my wife had a Christmas present in her purse we used. She also told that there are some The examination wasn't to extensive and gave us to medication sent on our way. The puppy was in a better mood by now I called several vet in the area and let them know what has happen. I even called some boarding Kennels as well and to my surprise I heard some Similar conversations from them as well. I called the next day to speak with the owner and the coward never returned my phone call. I would suggest unless it is life or death please wait till you can say an actual vet that has care and passion of an animal and not to put there pocketbook first. We have brought our dogs, (different ones over the years) here several times over the past few years. Never had to wait long to be seen. Always had professional treatment. Now we have to wait in our cars after registering due to Covid, even in 90 degree + heat. Okay bearable with AC pumping full blast. But having to wait for 4 hours to be seen as we were told 2 emergencies had come n ahead of us.understandable but wait our sick dog throwing up was not seen as an emergency? I am so disappointed. Maybe new management, I don't know. And today is the 4th and this is the only Animal Emergency Clinic that I know of within close proximity to my home. The too few others are well over 80 miles away. And after 4 hours waiting we could have actually gone there. Once again very disappointed. read more

Not worth it. Charged my daughter almost $500 for an incorrect diagnosis. Told me X-ray showed that our pet ingested wires!!! Left her overnight to have an IV administered to "flush them out." That did not happen. Picked her up and took her to Lakeside where Dr. Debbie told me the "wires" were intricate and permanent surgical wires and she did not ingest wires!!! Rip off!!! Anyone who knows me knows I don't usually leave or read reviews. Preferring instead to make my own judgements. My wife does read them though and brought the reviews on here to my attention. I am sorry for the pets some people seem to have lost. It appears their angst is based on what they viewed as the staff not moving with the great sense of urgency they themselves were. Much like a hospital ER, this ER gets really busy and has to triage based on urgency. (I'm sorry but a dog or cat vomiting isn't an absolute emergency in most cases) They also take in animals from other vets who don't have the staff to monitor animals for overnight care. This is how we first came to be here. We have had our dog here a couple of times and the staff has each time been courteous and professional. The vet even picked up on things our vet had missed on x-rays. We hope to never need their services again but, if we do, we wouldn't hesitate. read more

We had to take my dog to here because another dog bit him. My dog had a big bite above his eye and another big bite on the back of his head. When we walked in (around 8pm), the person up front immediately said that he needed stitches and we sat there for 2 hours before he was even looked at which was fine, we stayed patient and was just thankful that my dog wasn't urgent enough to be taken care of right away. Then the vet looked at him and told us our options and that it would be a wait before she could do it and we sat patiently for another 2 hours (which was fine, she prepared us for that) and then she took him back and told us her plan. After midnight, there is no receptionist to ask questions or keep updated or anything so I was an anxious wreck the entire time my dog was back there and received no update. I got my dog back in my arms and was told the vet was going to go finish paperwork and get our medicines and we would be out... my dog was shaking because he was scared something else would happen to him there and he wanted to go home and it's about 1:30am... we didn't get the paperwork or checked out or medicines until 2:30am.. also after 11, there were no other outpatients and I'm aware they had inpatients but im curious as to how the flow was much better when the waiting room was full of patients and those same inpatients versus waiting room empty with inpatients to where it took an hour to finish charting and get medicines and get us out. Then, when we got back the next morning, I realized we didn't get one of the medicines she said we would get so I waited and called them when they opened that night again and asked them to ask the vet if she changed her mind about it or if we still needed it and I was talked to rudely and put on hold for an hour and then I called back and that person said she would text the vet and ask her and then give me a call back... I never received a call back... I hope my doggy didn't need that extra ointment. Overall, I will say that the vet did a good job on caring for my dog and getting him taken care of and he is healthy now and staples have been removed but I do feel like the business could be run better. read more

I took my kitty Sylvester there this past Saturday night. He was really weak and sick. I thought it was from fleas. Well they treated him for fleas and fleas only. Even though he spiked a 105 fever and wasnt eating or drinking. I picked him Monday evening. They said he was a little weak still but would be ok. Terrible, non compassionate Dr! Acted as if she could care less that our dearest dog was sick and eventually passed away here. She was inconsiderate and quite frankly very rude at a very emotional and sad time. There was a male tech there that was very compassionate and caring to our sweet 3 yr old dog. Overall it was a terrible experience and will not go back if I ever need emergency dog services. read more

Dr. Ann Turner is the most competent vet I think I've ever met. I've worked as a vet tech for several doctors. I don't work at this clinic and never have. I love her though. She's very compassionate and very gentle with the animals she cares for. It doesn't matter to her if it's a small issue or if she needs to do some major surgery. Each animal gets the same amount of care and attention. She also takes you seriously as a pet owner. The office is nice and neat. It has no strong unpleasant odors. The back of the hospital is very high tech and the operating suites are amazing! They have the ability to do x-rays there and the pharmacy is very well stocked. This is an emergency hospital, so you can't get your flea or heartworm prevention there of course. The staff is very friendly and very competent as well. I believe they are all licensed vet techs, so they are very knowledgeable. I haven't met the other doctors there yet. Hopefully you will never need to visit their office for anything other than a tour. If you do find yourself bring your four legged family member in, I really think you'll feel good about your decision to take them there. read more

I've never written a review before; however, I feel obligated to protect other pets. I brought my critical pet on the direction of my vet. After waiting 45 minutes I complained only to wait another 10 minutes for a response. Now I worry about the care she'll get or even if she'll be alive tomorrow when I pick her up to go to my vet. I'll drive an hour or more to reach another place before using this place again. I've waited another30 minutes and still don't have the paperwork to complete the intake so I can go home to my other pets who are hungry and need to go out. Poorest excuse for a pet care facility I've ever experienced. Never again!!!!!! read more

my wife and I took our 3 year old cat to the small animal emergency services in Vass N.C. on 4-24-23. our cat suddenly stopped eating was lethargic. our normal vet was closed so we went here. this place opens at 6pm. we were there at 5:15pm. The first to arrive there. by the time the door opened there were several other people and animals there also. we checked in and started waiting. They got busy fast and the one vet seemed to be overwhelmed. They called in another vet. her name was Dr. Whitehead our vet for the night. We were the only persons with a cat except a young couple with a very small kitten, they eventually left without being seen. Well we were there for six hour, we had to ask for x-rays and blood work. Dr.Whitehead finally told all she could do was give our cat antibiotics and fluids just kinda wait and see until the am. at that time he would be taken to our vet for them to monitor him for a few day. She had absolutely no personality and was very unprofessional. Whitehead finally told us (They don't see many cats). REALLY then they should put a sign up saying NO CAT. we had them call Blue Pearle in Cary. So we went to Blue Pearl and got outstanding service. I have never given a one star review before, the girl at the front desk was very nice and that's about all I can say about SMALL ANIMAL SERVICES in Vass N.C. they should return my 550 plus dollars because they gave us no service. I will say the dogs seemed to be treated ok. too bad I can't give negative stars. I love all animals dog, cats you name i I guess some people don't feel the same. It wasn't an emergency per say, but I was having difficulty getting solid answers and advice from my usual vets and I felt a little desperate to know I was on the right track. I am disgusted and livid by this vet. I called at 6:30am to let them know I would be there in 30 mins with a very miserable, sick cat and needed him looked at. The staff on the phone said no problem, they will be open til 8am, but they do ask for people to be there by 7:30am so they can leave on time. I arrived at 7:05 and the vet was speaking to another client outside. She stopped talking, looked at me and said what are we doing with kitty? I explained he is shivering, distended belly, and throwing up. She said well we close at 8:00, is there somewhere else you can go? I said I just drove 30 mins after calling and being told you could see him. She went inside, after 10 minutes she came back out with a card to another vet up the road. I was upset after seeing my sick cat shivering and sick waiting in the cold and asked why couldn't she see him as it was an emergency. She stuck her wrist up and shoved her watch in my face and said because we close in 45 minutes. She said if he needed long term treatment, they wouldn't be able to give it to him. I didn't need long term treatment, I needed to know if he was truly an emergency and if he would die. After a diagnosis, I could get him regular care, but he couldn't keep his eyes open, I felt he was a true emergency. So I had no choice but to take the card and go 12 more minutes up the road (putting me 45 minutes from home). I get there and they don't open til 8am. While waiting for them to open, 8 cars show up waiting to get in with their pets and they all have appointments. As I am looking at my cats eyes rolling around, I am pissed! He could have been looked at 45 minutes ago and he has got even worse over time. When I explained the emergency clinic sent me here they said they never received a heads up and asked for referral paperwork. Sigh, I explained she barely noticed I had a cat, much less looked at him. When the Vet at the new place came over and saw him, she took him back right away. I will be writing a great review for them, as they triaged and understood our distress and stepped up. Oh btw, he had a urinary blockage. His bladder was soo extended it was about to rupture. All he needed was a catheter at the vet and I took him to an overnight clinic to be taken care of for 2-3 days on fluids. read more

We appreciate this animal clinic so much. We arrived not knowing our per coca would need surgery. They were caring , fast & compassionate care, called us with updates, explained everything well!
