The beginning of February 2026 I came home to a significant amount of blood and exudate coming…read morefrom my dog's rectum. I called Dr's Lannon's and asked for advice and asked if we could have my dog seen. We sent pics and received a response basically blowing us off. We sought an online vet and ultimately after jumping through a lot of hoops have been treating him with antibiotics and steroids with slight improvement. Dr Lannon's current staff implied we were lying about his treatment and to return to where we took him because there's no way we could get steroids by mail in NC which is accurate information(we had it mailed to family in FL and sent here). We've also been told due to my dog's size to seek treatment elsewhere but when my husband dropped by in person to discuss the matter there was a Neapolitan Mastiff larger than our dog waiting to be seen. Go figure. Prior to this incident, We've been limping along since COVID knowing he's not really a favorite of the office since some of the previous vet techs that he liked have left the practice. After this ordeal, there's absolutely no way I would recommend wasting your time or theirs which is what it would turn into if you bothered trying to have your pets treated there. I trust Dr Lannon 100 % but her current staff is lacking honesty, integrity ,and the grit it takes to be in the industry. They've had some great techs=Chris Haupu, Mary & Zoey were excellent and understanding with my dog and are sorely missed. I understand why techs are nervous about dealing with large breeds but, I have an email from that my dog is welcome, but his chart is marked that he's not. All the current staff can assume is to be fearful, and in that case they might as well work with bunnies. I admit my dog becomes temperamental when his feet or nether regions are examined but his chart is marked accordingly. There was an appointment in the past that his chart was ignored and a minor incident occurred. Things happen when you deal with animals, and we've done everything in our power to ensure that all staff is reminded not to ignore our safety warnings and we basket muzzle him for everyone's safety and we also offer to be on standby to render any assistance needed. I'm in patient care and have had large animal experience(I've had horses and been around animals my entire life), and my pet is 150 lbs so we understand the importance of safety. My boy would never intentionally want to hurt anyone. He's reactive, and we want to make sure everyone is safe. I'm disappointed to say the very least , and I don't want anyone else or their pet to suffer the pain and the wait that we've endured. I've tried to do my best to handle this on my own but, there's only so much I can do. Update:I finally took him to the emergency vet and he has CANCER(Two Tumors). They were phenomenal w/him. They loved him and he loved them. Just goes to show what having the right environment will do, now we can move forward finding him the treatment he deserves so, that hopefully he can go on and live out his best life. Update:Pasquotank Animal Hospital: Dr Blake Lucas saw my boy on Tuesday 4/14/26. He was comfortable, and again so much so laid down, relaxed and went along w/the program. The vet tech loved him, and they got on just fine. He ended up having surgery the same afternoon. Thanks to Dr Lucas and staff for listening to concerns, heeding our cautions w/regards to his reactive tendencies when his touchy feet and "personal areas" are dealt with, and for treating my boy and us w/professionalism and respect. It is much appreciated!!!!

The front desk staff is very nice however and were very sweet when I was upset over the mistreatment of their patient. I also will say I have never spoken to the vet here only the techs which is also concerning.

First of all, you cannot make an appointment which confused me at first. I went about half an hour before opening and stood in line. I was 3rd in line. Once we all got inside and checked in everything flowed really smoothly. Once we got inside to see the vet we were gone in 5 minutes tops afterwards. Total wait time was about an hour including sitting in line before opening. Really nice staff and my dog was happy.

Overall; it's a good vet place with cheap veterinary services…read more They offer price matching for certain medications and don't have any hidden fees. Just like others have said, they are understaffed and quite busy, so I understand the frustrations they definitely feel and experience on the daily. That doesn't mean that it's an excuse but please give the staff leisure especially since they don't make the rules of the establishment. That being said, I did experience quite a few times front staff being snippy with pet owners after they asked reasonable questions about pricing. And when I mentioned a possible price match for my cat's flea medicine I was met with a long sigh and silence before being told, 'I was supposed to mention it in advance when I ordered it.' But I never experienced this obstacle before when requesting a price match. That was personally the only time I experienced a conflict. Other than that, they have always seemed nice, treated my cat well and never made me drop a paycheck for my kitty. I'd say that makes them pretty great. IF THERE IS AN ANIMAL HAVING A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, THEY WILL TAKE FIRST PRIORITY!!!!! That is most likely what happens with the long wait times. (You can always just ask too; being nice goes a long way.) If you go, clear your day and go EARLY! It'll be worth it. Your bank account will be happy. You will be happy and most importantly, your pet will be happy.

A friend of mine whose dog just died, went to this shelter to adopt a new companion. The staff did tell him that he seemed to be skiddish of men but took them out to their yard for them to meet. The dog was a little nervous, but after feeding him treats and letting him warm up, the dog seemed fine. My friend told the staff he would Like to adopt the dog. And was promptly and rudely told no by a staff member. (Whose name we can't get because apparently asking for this woman's name is against a privacy policy...) Then, another staff member suggested he try fostering the dog for a week to see if it would be a good fit. My friend agreed to the foster idea. And was again, rudely told no by this specific staff member who apparently has 0 people and customer service skills... don't worry, it gets better. My friend left, obviously upset and confused as to why this woman flat out told him no. He called back to ask for a manager and for the names of the people who helped them. Which is when he was informed of their privacy policy. A little while we called back because this whole thing was uncalled for and quite frankly unacceptable. When we called this lovely staff member answered the phone with "I already told you the manager is not here." Not a hi, hello, nothing. Just nasty attitude. We were just trying to understand why he was denied, he was very upset as his dog just passed and felt judged by this person. Anyway, this wonderful person continued on with her nasty attitude and when we expressed our disdain for how she was treating a retired veteran who just wants a companion, she lost it. Apparently today was just not the day for her. She was screaming and Told us to kiss her ass because she too is a veteran and has fought in wars. What lovely customer service, right? So anyway, he obviously didn't get the dog, this person clearly works at a shelter because their people skills are deplorable. I'd tread carefully if you find an animal you want to adopt here. I won't say "don't go here." Because the animals are not at fault. Just the extremely rude person we dealt with.
