Smart and Final has been one of our regular spots for groceries. They have good prices particularly when they have specials. Bob is the best cashier. He is friendly, fast and accurate. He makes the trip there worth it.

One of my favorites! Under $4 for pack of 3 and each one well worth the 320 calories.

Review is for Doordash: Most of my grocery shopping is between Costco, Safeway, and 99 Ranch. In the age of COVID along with poor air quality in the East Bay, its often better to Doordash your smaller-volume groceries and supplies. I never been to Smart & Final Extra! before, but I'm now a fan. Their Doordash menu has hundreds if not thousands of items at reasonable prices. i picked up some of my favorite items here: * 1-gal Crystal Geyser Water - my favorite brand, and just over a buck. I normally buy 12 to 16 at a time at Safeway but will order 4 per Doordash order. * Orowheat Organic Thin-sliced 22-grain and seeds bread. So soft and good! We like this brand more than Dave's Killer Breads. * It's It Mint Chocolate Chip - this ice cream sammie is the real San Francisco treat. Ice cream between oatmeal cookies and coated with chocolate? Yessir and definitely worth the 320 calories. At under $4 for a 3-pack its a definitely bargain. They also have lots of adult beverage options. However, ordering by Doordash may require physical ID verification with the Dasher, which sorta defeats the purpose of contactless delivery and minimizing social distance.

One of 4 c/s calls.

Review for Smart & Final Delivery via their app. This hurts to write as I love my local Smart & Final. However, last Sunday we placed an online order and it's been a disaster. For starters, my drive Justine (at least that's what the notifications said) came to the door smelling like weed and wasn't the friendliest guy I've ever met. No biggie just an observation. I signed for the white claws and while I was putting the bags in the kitchen I went back to grab the rest of my items and he was driving away. I'm rather certain he saw me but still drove away. So I ran inside and sent him a text. As you can see from the image I sent it prior to him closing out the ticket. At this point, I'm feeling like I've been scammed. Justine, while could be a guys name, I thought would be a Woman and then I didn't get my items. So I called the c/s department right away and was told to wait until Tuesday by Sam and he'd contact me. Of course, Tuesday came and went with no update. I called the following day and spoke to a Sara. She said Sam can help me and I found that unacceptable so I made her listen to my issue again. I shared the recipe that was left in the bag, a copy of the finalized receipt that was sent on Monday. A screenshot showing I reached out immediately as well as an image from my ring camera showing Justine only carrying 3 bags to my door. Sara assured me she'd handle it after I read item by item what I didn't receive as well as refunding the delivery fee. She said it would be completed within 24hours. Of course that didn't happen and two days later I called back again. Sara said the investigation was done and they refunded me $58. Even though when we went item by item the total was $68 plus tax, NOT including the $10 service fee. End result is I got to pay $10 to have someone keep a portion of my order. Had to go to the store myself to get the stolen items. Have wasted over 4 hours on hold to receive poor customer service. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Nice, clean; refreshing for a Smart & Final. Service is typical Smart & Final or they would have gotten the 5th star.

My spouse works nearby and I've been in this store several times over the years. I was never very…read moreimpressed other than by the larger size and more modern design than most Lucky's stores. Today however, solidified my never using this store again. No shopping carts anywhere near the door, not the biggest deal as I only needed a handful of items, but left wondering if they expected customers to scour the parking lots to find one? Inside the store no hand baskets anywhere to be seen, walked down each checkout stand and no baskets there either..!! Walked up to the manager station and saw who appeared to be a manager, she was having an open heated discussion with another employee, never even looked up towards myself or the elderly man in front of me standing in front of the counter. I walked through the store to grab my items in my arms and get out of there. Stopped at the Ice cream aisle And Dryers ice cream was $8 & change which is significantly more than what Safeway is typically selling it for! Skipped that, found small packets of pickles on the end cap, grabbed one, and went to the checkout. I asked the checkout woman, who can only be described as "sullen", where the hand baskets were, she tersely replied "we don't have any".. Then came the pickles, they wouldn't ring up, she hollered at a woman in the self checkout asking about the price, she hadn't even seen them before. My checker asked her to go look up the price, had to ask 4 times, had to describe how to go look up the price. Woman comes back, says there's no price on the display, ( which is already what I said) and she says "just charge $2.. (I'm not even sure that tiny packet is worth $2, but I just want out of there by now.).!! Checker barely looks up at me, as she slides my stuff down the counter, gives a 1/2 hearted "thanks".. So much more letdowns, more employees than customers, not one of them made eye contact, most were milling around looking like they were trying to find something to do.. (Which wasn't asking any customers if they needed help).!! I was relieved to be driving away, drove to San Ramon Safeway and bought all of the other stuff I needed, Dreyers Ice cream was $2 cheaper, I was so much happier at Safeway that I spent $120.00 there.!!

The ones in San Ramon and Livermore don't have the fresh sushi chef counter. Their sushi is pretty good for a quick workday lunch. It is comparable to the Safeway sushi that is near me. I would get it again. Not high end but good for a more healthy lunch option.

Tried a third time...nothing. I started walking towards the front to get help and found a staff member finally coming. I guess that's one way to stop theft and stop sales at the same time! Grabbed some unsweetened iced tea bottles and went to check out. The shelf price was cheaper than price at register. When I pointed it out to the cashier he was helpless to do anything. Said I could speak to a supervisor at the customer service counter. Nobody there with a sign saying Customer Service was closed. Not even a suggestion of where to get help? Asked the closest cashier for advice about what to do. She was actually friendly but didn't know, referred me to a crabby career cashier who had no interest in assisting. Said there should be someone coming later today I could talk to. (not helpful) Said they were doing price changes so shelf tags might be wrong. Where is Weights and Measures when you need them!?! This Walmart is a prime location to rack up some fines. Unfortunately it seems that when trying to save money, management cuts payroll first, causing customer service to go down the toilet.

However , it is usually full and you need to Park a little farther away then walk . They have a new items section that I found very helpful. All the new items are displayed on one tall shelf and it is better than reading the newsletters and look for them in different locations of the store . They sell their sturdy trustable shopping bag for 99 cent . It is large , well made and with pretty graphic designs. I hate to pay to get a paper bag then it torn out after one use or in the middle of walking to my car ! Trader has top quality of Angus beef ( rib eye , sirloin) , organic chicken , salmon and other seafood. It has a huge fresh fruits and vegetables section .Healthy bakery and snacks . It has healthy ingredients and the prices are lower than Whole food . Many products are imported from Europe. It is clean , organized, carry all the food and non food items for daily use . Excellent service and friendly staffs . What else can you ask for ? I vote this as my number one choice of grocery store.

I was shocked to spend $11 on just a 20oz bottle of Pepsi and a bag of potato chips -- $7 for chips and $4 for a soda is completely unreasonable, even for "organic" products. I shop at places like Whole Foods regularly, and even they don't charge those kinds of prices. When I asked the cashier to clarify, the response felt dismissive, as if I should just accept the markup without question. To make matters worse, as I browsed the store, I noticed several items that were past their expiration dates. If you're going to charge premium prices, the very least I expect is for the food to be fresh and safe to eat. That's just basic quality control. Unfortunately, between the inflated prices and expired goods, I can't recommend this store. I love supporting neighborhood spots, but this one left a bad impression -- both in service and value.
