After scheduling a consultation, Gina later that same day decided not to take on the project, which is certainly her prerogative, and I appreciate that she communicated that before any work began. That said, the experience left me with the impression that questions, comparison shopping, and our personal decision making process were viewed negatively rather than as a normal part of a significant home investment. While we opted to go with another vendor for our project (to NO fault of JMR), I will say that Patty was in touch with me since I first reached out until when I informed her about selecting someone else. She set-up a consultation appointment with me, showed up on time was very friendly, knowledgeable and gave us the best options that they could offer (without compromising quality or the risk of losing warranty) during her visit. She gave us a quote/proposal fairly quickly and followed up with me for any questions I may still have. Every question/clarification that popped up in my head after my appointment with her that I texted, I got an immediate response. When I shared with her that we decided to go with another vendor, she asked for more information from me so they can maybe potentially offer what we needed for future clients. We ordered top-down/bottom-up cellular shades for my home office and dining room and regular shades for a small window above our kitchen sink. Kaylee was the consultant we worked with. She was personable, positive, friendly and provided superior service. She communicated well every step of the way and set the right expectations each time. She brought several samples/swatches and left them with us to give us the chance and time to see how it looks during the day and at night. What impressed us the most was when we had minor issues on our dining room shades (it felt heavy when pulling down), Kaylee relayed the issue to the owner and the manufacturer's rep to figure it out. While it took some time to get it right, they were in contact with me each and every time which we greatly appreciated. And they made sure that we were happy with the final product. TBH, compared with a few vendors we used for our remodeling project, Budget Blinds was "the only one" who kept us abreast of what was going on and provided updates. The other vendors we hired, I had to track them down, and some didn't even reply to emails. They did not care because they were already paid. I figure things happen and take time so I didn't call until 2:30 pm or so to check on where the technician was. I was told that my job had "not been added to the schedule" but they would see when a tech could be there. I was then told 3:45-4:00pm. No one arrived. I called at 4:15 pm and was told they were 25 minutes away. I called at 5:01 and the voicemail said the office was CLOSED and here it is 5:15 and no one EVER ARRIVED. I realize compared to other jobs this company has, my job was small and not worth a lot of money. However, the measure of a great business is to treat small customers as well as your big customers. If you don't show up when scheduled, fail to add a job to your schedule, and keep lying to your customer about the arrival time of your tech who NEVER shows up at all...why would I trust this company with my larger corporate work? How you treat people matters, whether the job is big or small. This was unacceptable today and I did not appreciate that I had to keep calling YOUR business to find out what was going on, what happened to the tech, etc. Why aren't YOUR people communicating with customers? Why didn't anyone apologize? Why didn't anyone call before close of business to say, "Hey, we're not coming!" I was extremely unhappy because no one cared that I had taken time off work to meet the tech and no one cared enough to even CALL me and let me know what was going on. You guys dropped the ball big time here and were incredibly thoughtless and rude. Update: They just arrived at 5:36 pm. The techs themselves were GREAT and were able to do the work and complete the job. However, I wanted someone to know about the lack of transparency and communication today as it was very upsetting to me. The quality of work and the people you hired to do the actual technical job were terrific, knowledgeable and qualified. I realized it was not THEIR fault today, but I think it's important for people to know about the communication problems. I updated my review from 1 star to 3 because of the actual techs and their skills.
