I found this Pilot Travel Center by using Google Maps to scout out a good gas station to fill up at…read moreon our way from Chapel Hill to Greensboro (yeah, I actually did that). This Pilot is conveniently located just off I-40/I-85 exit 132 (Mount Hope Church Road) in McLeansville, North Carolina. Having grown up in nearby High Point in the 80s and 90s and regularly traveling back and forth between the Triangle and Atlanta since 2020, I hadn't heard of McLeansville until now. Over about the last couple of years, I've learned that Pilot Flying J (Pilot and Flying J merged in 2009) are the best stops for gas and restroom breaks on the merged stretch of I-40 and I-85 in North Carolina, between the Triad and the Triangle. If anyone knows better, please educate me. On this stretch, there are Pilots at exits 132 (this one in McLeansville), 150 (Haw River), and 152 (Mebane). There's also a Flying J across the street from the Pilot at exit 150. I think the only comparable gas station/truck stop on the same stretch is the TA Travel Center at exit 138 (Whitsett). I'll probably have left Yelp reviews for each of these places before our time in the Triangle is up. I-40 overlaps with I-85 between I-40 exits 227 and 259. In between those exits, the I-85 exit numbers, 131 to 163, prevail. This Pilot is situated close to the west end of the overlap, near Greensboro. Relatively speaking, this Pilot in McLeansville is spacious, clean, and well-stocked. It's no QuikTrip, RaceTrac, or Love's, but it's one of the closest things you'll find to those brands around here. My four-star rating is relative to the area. I counted 14 pumps at the filling station. There are Dunkin' and Wendy's fast food restaurants on-site. This is Pilot Travel Center store #7937. It's open 24/7.

If I could leave zero (0) stars I would for this store. The African American woman that works in…read morethere which stated "my store" when referring to the store was a complete jerk! After my husband bought over $100 worth of merchandise which included lottery and gasoline. I went in with my 2 kids. While one was in the restroom my other child who's only 3 by the way, was deciding on the type of candy he wanted right at the front of the store near the cashier that was working there who was possibly of middle eastern decent not 100% so don't come for me. But anyways my point is that the woman there with short hair was scanning items in shelves etc while I was getting drinks and snacks while my 3 year old was looking at candy and then putting back in same place when not wanting the certain ones and his father my husband also there watching etc. then this woman had the audacity to say "she's making a mess" with an attitude and so I asked her what she said to make sure I heard her correctly and she said your daughter is making a mess! I looked very puzzled as I looked at the area where my SON, not daughter by the way, was at with his picked out candy in hand and there was not a thing out of place nor on the floor or rumbled etc and told her there was no mess and that every item HE took out he out right back so I wasn't sure what she was talking about ! She didn't like that I was right or maybe being racist against us being a Hispanic family and ANTI-kid Friendly, and told me to put the stuff I had in my hands back and to leave "her" store and even cursed at me with my child there. Well I told her I'd be glad to leave once my other child was out of the restroom and wasn't leaving until she was out and then still kept harassing us to leave and once my daughter got out the restroom I told her she was wrong for treating paying customers like that and even told her I'd make a video to show everyone her face but she's lucky I'm not that petty! But definitely will NEVER go there again or spend another dime and will not recommend to anyone who passes thru! She can keep "her store" and her attitude!

I would like to start off by saying, I am a huge fan of BPs/Family Fares and strictly stick to them…read morewhen I need gas or snacks. I am parked in front of this location right now trying to find an address on my phone. Not even being in my car for more than two minutes, both the cashier and manager(?) started staring at me...I went inside to grab a coffee and they were still staring at me, I'm very nice so when I walked up to pay, the cashier was rude and still staring at me like she was angry. I am still in my car and AGAIN both the cashier and manager are still staring at me...I have been somewhat of a regular here for 6 years and I feel like an outsider and very uncomfortable. I'm disappointed. I would understand if it was someone sitting in their car for thirty minutes and looking sketchy BUT I'm not! I have never left a Yelp review and I HATE confrontation so this is a big deal for me.
