Some of the park's attractions include: * Bocce Ball Courts * Delaware & Raritan (D&R) Canal State Park Trail Access * Dog Park * Fishing * Fitness Trail * Golf Course * Large Playground * Miniature Golf * Nature Trails * Paddle Boating (Duck Boats) * Picnic Pavilions * Rose Garden & Sensory and Fragrance Garden * Spray Park * Tennis & Pickleball Courts The park also connects directly to the Delaware & Raritan (D&R) Canal State Park Trail via a pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the canal. I've walked throughout the park and along the D&R Trail. Fitness stations are located along portions of the trail, and it's easy to create a scenic loop that passes the photogenic Stone Cottage and the spectacular Rose Garden area. The Splash Park is incredibly popular with families. On hot, sunny days, parking near the playground can be hard to find. So far, I've enjoyed the duck boats, miniature golf, fitness trail, nature trails, Rose Garden, and Splash Park. Next on my list are the bocce courts, which appear to be in excellent condition. If you're visiting the area, Colonial Park is a destination well worth your time.

I don't think very many people outside of Milltown even know this park exists…read more Located near the juncture of Milltown Road and Route 1 North, it is on a path lightly traveled except by Milltowners and those who believe Milltown Road is a shortcut to New Brunswick. It's a fairly large park when you take into consideration the soccer and baseball fields. Boasting two jungle gyms, one for littler kids, and one for bigger kids, as well as a giant rockwall-like structure designed for climbing, there's a lot to do here. There are also about 8 swings; 4 for babies and toddlers, and 4 for everyone else. Because of its location, the park gets a nice breeze, though I imagine you could really bake out here in the summer since there's very little shade to be found. Still, a nice break from all the usual spots around town.

My dog loved it though. Kind of close to a major highway, so it's a bit noisy. I wouldn't come here for a nice, relaxing time. Very easy to get lost in the nature of things, staring at the river and canal. It's actually a pretty long hike if you do the red trail or even the orange one. It's not too cumbersome of a hike. Paths can get a bit narrow, so it's a bit annoying if you're walking and you encounter some bikers. Also wish there were a bit more signs, but that's probably intentional.

It's on the corner of two residential streets that do not get much traffic.The entire area is fenced in, and the neighborhood is safe and peaceful. The paved parking lot fits about 20 cars. The park is basically a big flat lawn with well maintained green grass, and a border of trees. You might see some deer, a rabbit, or some Canada Geese. There's also swings, slides, a baseball field, a basketball court, some picnic tables, and a pavilion. This park sometimes has a port-a-potty but sometimes does not. There is no permanent restroom facility here. I live nearby this park, and in the two decades I've been here, I have rarely seen more than 25 people in the park at once. I have only heard good things about this park from the people I know in the neighborhood who bring the kids here, and who play basketball here. The park is named to honor Patrolman Dunham and Patrolman Lebed, who were killed on duty together in 1960. Two public roads in town, Lebed Drive and Dunham Street, are also named after them.

Finally got around to creating a review for Beech Woods Park. It's been around for way too long…read morenow, but I just haven't had the time until now to add a review here. When it comes to the Beekman Dr parks, Beech Woods is often known as the inferior sister to it's older sibling Veterans Park. Additionally, for longtime residents of South Brunswick Township, Beech Woods lives in infamy for a peculiar reason (won't get to it here). Veterans Park provides more from an entertainment perspective (Basketball court, big playground, expansive walking trail, large outdoor space, multipurpose court). Veterans Park is easy to walk to, if you live off Beekman Road. There's even public bathrooms. However, Beech Woods provides some distinct traits that Veterans Park doesn't have. One is that it's surrounded by trees. Trees that come in handy when you go on a walk and need some shade to protect yourself from the sweltering heat. Second is the the parking and flexibility allowed inside the park. There's plenty of parking spots and a decent sized gazebo + outdoor space where you can hold an outdoor party or BBQ without much issue. There's also a smaller playground for kids to play in too. Third is the walking trail. Due to the hilly terrain when entering the park, you get actually a complete experience walking around from the stop sign to all the way around the park. There's also a hidden trail for the adventurous in Timber Ponds that want to walk through Beech Woods from the development. But one cool advantage of this park is that it's a perfect place to practice driving. The terrain plus ample parking spots allows the young and inexperienced drivers to practice anything and everything, even parallel parking. That's one thing you can't get in Veteran's Park. So go enjoy and stay distanced!

It's set back from River Road which is nice because as you probably know, it's a busy road being right off 287 with multiple businesses and Rutgers nearby. It's a clean playground with a larger playground set for kids 5+ and a smaller playground set for those younger than that. It's got a few cool features such as a "tree" ladder, a rock boulder to climb, a circular swivel type of thing to hang off of, and an uneven climbing ladder. The ground is made with small wood chips, while not my favorite (I prefer the soft bouncy surface like at Colonial Park in Somerset), but definitely better than pavement/grass/etc. There are swings, slides (one of them looked like a hazard as it dropped pretty steep but thankfully my little guy didn't want to go on it), and a pavilion area with bathrooms as well. There is a large field before the playground which looks like a nice place to throw a frisbee or I'm sure people play some pick up games there. We will definitely be back as it was quiet, clean, and offered a good variety of fun.
