Stocking all your office, school and work needs, the Marion branch is just as big as the others with a more extensive electronics department. Printers, paper, pens, scrapbooks, Minties...you name it and Officeworks will have it. Staff in store can be sparsely populated but are generally quite knowledgeable and if they aren't too sure will find someone who can help. The store also runs workshops on the weekend catering to small business owners. Prices are quite cheap and parking is a breeze.

While everything is laid out well, it is still quite intimidating when you enter the store. The aisles on the left are labelled, which is handy. Since I went on a Monday evening, there were a lot of staff on hand to help me out. Saying that, what is listed on the website is not necessarily what is in store ... so I had to improvise. They now have an aisle of upmarket fancy desk accessories, probably to rival Kikki K and to some extent Smiggle (in the fact that they are colour coded) - very nice! I will definitely have to come here again ;) On the right hand side of the store is all the electrical and office equipment - this seems easy to negotiate, and again there were plenty of staff here to help out customers. Pretty impressive!

While generally quite pricey with designer stationary items, you can easily grab a bargain if you know what you are looking for, hence my first piece of advice for shopping here - keep your eye open for $5 clearance tags. The pens at Typo are very nice and its worth looking at finding a nice pen while you are there because even though they are more expensive then what you probably could get from Kmart nearby, they certainly last longer and feel nicer to write with. They also have a great range of phone cases and other cool items here. They even had a wooden QWERTY keyboard for a desktop computer, which I found really cool. The store is quite small though, so it is important to keep your eye open for other shoppers. Make sure that you also check out their funny birthday cards too.

I like the copious amount of skulls in this store - I confess I have a weakness for them, and am pretty pleased to find them pretty much all the time here! I think they go too far sometimes with their un-useful items which are supposed to be 'clever' ... I can forsee many stupid gifts being thrown in the bin. Apart from this, if you're looking for a cute mouse pad, a cool mug, a quirky notebook or an awesome laptop bag, then this should be your first stop. Not as classy as Kikki K, but more grown up than Smiggle ;)

According to the tabloids he sold the business to Woolworths several years ago for a whopping $20 million, so it's no longer and Australian business but it still retains the name. Their image certainly has changed and come into the 21st century, which goes to show the roaring trade they've been doing over the years. The St Marys store is the closest to me and is by far one of the smaller stores located in Adelaide, but never the less there is a general spread of products available and there are good and bad eggs (staff) at each one. It seems to be the way with any large stores and chains as they can camouflage themselves but at a smaller store they're not so hidden! So I have had good and not so good experiences at this particular one. Without going into the nitty gritty I had my issue rectified after six months by another staff member - I can't believe I was patient for so long - that the person who served me initially should've done in the first place or not forgotten to follow procedures. I'm not going to dismiss going there entirely as when I do go back both staffers are still there, but I always wait to be served by the person who resolved the issue, I know will give me the correct information, knows their products and is not VAGUE. Besides parking is easy and directly out the front of the store plus not too busy inside where you don't need to wait too long to be served. They do price match with other stores which is a good thing but I do shop elsewhere too to get what's best for me - just like they do!

Riot sells supplies such as stickers, canvas', paint brushes, textas, cardboard, glue, glitter, beads, kids activities, wooden items, stencils, scrapbooks and even classroom and teacher resources. The list goes on. Located on the second floor near Kmart, I first came here when I needed some stickers for my 21st book. There were lots which made it hard for me to decide. I ended up choosing some pretty butterflies and gold happy birthday stickers. The service was good and the staff seemed helpful when customers had questions. I'd suggest this shop to anyone who enjoys hand-making cards, painting/drawing, scrap booking, etc.

Should have stocked up on more because it seems the store regularly sells out of them! In recent times when I have gone to the store to buy more beads, I have been told by the young female store attendant that the store is out of them. On one particular Saturday, I asked this store attendant if she could please order some more in, to which she replied that this was not possible. I insisted that she write a note to the store manager to ask that this be possible and she reluctantly did so and reportedly left it on her manager's desk. To this day, I have not received a phone call from the store to tell me whether or not they were able to order some more in. If these beads are so popular and selling-out all the time, why do you not order more? In addition, due to the unhelpful nature of the staff at Riot Marion, I am unlikely to return and would rather spend my money elsewhere.
